[Refurb] Acer Veriton L4630G USFF 8GB i5-4440 $194.95, Optiplex SFF 3020 8GB i5-4570 $189.95 Shipped (Metro) @ ClearanceGuys

Got some good prices on the following systems:

There's also only one unit L4620G (3rd Gen for $174.95)

The Optiplex 3020 unfortunately can only have a single slot low profile GPU installed (so no 1050ti). The Veritons don't have a PCIE slot.

The HP Compare Elite 8300 can fit dual slot low profile GPU such as low profile 1050ti/1650.

  • Any suitable for haxkintosh, logic pro?
My 2011 imac is no longer able to handle it.

    • 8300 should work well.

      • Yeah, I did a quick search. Just unsure if I need to add an Audio card.
        I have a spare 2.5' 500GB SSD.
I may also need a supported Video Card, depending on what is inside, as well as Wifi Dongle.

        • I got the audio working without a card on an 8200.

          Wifi - yes, you'll need a dongle.

        • If you want it without the included 128GB SSD (no drive at all let me know and I can give you $25 off the price).

          • @chiefbodge: Thank you.

            Lools like a good buy.

I had a look at the processor, and it will probably work well for most things, but It appears to be not much more advanced than the iMac I am using with 16GB of Ram.

Back to the drawing board of building/dreaming. :)

    “Heavy dents and scratches”

It’d be good to see pictures of the actual item with that description.

    • I have uploaded example images for the 3020/elite. Not all of them will have damage that bad though. All are in perfect working order with warranty.

  • Is that a parallel port!

    • +1

sure is! I was shocked to see it as well on a 4th gen machine.

    • Thought you were joking until I had a look. I can use my parallel dot-matrix printer again … yay!

  • Will it GTA5?

    • Not very well, The 4th Gen Veritons have HD4600 graphics in them. You can look for examples on youtube like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVen70UCjJw which looks playable to me but I'm not sure.

  • Better off getting HP comaq for 174.95 and adding a gtx 1650 (250$) to it or can I build a better system under 500?

    • Would you trust the (aged) PSU to run a gtx 1650?

  • Hi Everyone,

Sorry to ask I built my newest machine but a bit out of touch with some of the previous gens.
Been looking at the cheapest way to get a PC for my son to play simple games, Fortnite would be the most taxing on the system currently.
Minecraft, Roblox, Portal knights and games like this is what he currently plays.

I still have an old case so I could swap the insides of one of these with it and open up for GPU options as there would be more room.
I'm thinking probably a new power supply and GPU would be needed adding another $300-$400 to cost roughly.

Do you think this would be worth it or there maybe better ways to achieve what im after?

    Thanks for any feedback!

IMO If you start spending that much more on one of those machines stretch to a new build if you can

      • Thanks Heaps @splango!

I kind of had this in my head already but think i just needed someone else to tell me :)

        Greatly appreciated.

      Kenada,
if you want "the cheapest way to get a PC for my son to play simple games", these will do it as is. But consider looking for a 5th gen i5 for not much more.

The official minimum specs for Fortnite is Intel HD4000, so the i5-4* chips above will do the job. (4th gen or better, not the HP Elite) .
It will be playable, though you may need to adjust the settings.

If you want to add a graphics card, get something else. e.g. Optiplex 9020.

      • Thanks very much for the feedback @manic.
Seen a few of these type of deals around recently but never really knew what i was getting into!

There are also the auction sites out there that have some pre leased PC's which have great specs but its just trying to get one for a good price.

    • That's the X4630G SFF model. The ones we are selling are the L460G (USFF model) which are much smaller and consequently don't have PCIE slots.
