This deal is toast here for 2 reasons:

    • 1080p at 32"

    • VA panel

    • +3

Also because Kogan. So many Ozbargainers hate Kogan products; some may even have a reason :-)

      • +1

…“allows eyes to track smoothly across the screen” until you see the words “Kogan” on the bottom centre of the bezel.

  • +11

I wouldn't touch anything bigger than 27" for 1080p, even 27" is pushing it imo.

    • Would you say 27" is a definite no go for 1080 or maybe it's not too bad?

      • +3

        I have both 27inch 1080p and 27inch 2k

If u have the budget go 2k else 1080 is not too bad

      • +5

Depends if you've spoiled yourself yet. Personally I don't mind 1080p at 27", but I'm a 24" person anyway. Also depends on sitting distance.

      • 27" @ 1080p could work if it was far enough away, but on an average sized desk, definite no-no IMO.

the whole point of getting a bigger screen should be to add more real estate, and to do that you need to add pixels.

unless I suppose you just want to play games, then it's easier to justify larger screens at lower resolutions.

      ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

        😳😳😳🥵🥵🥵

    • Depends on the viewing distance. No good on a desk, especially productivity. Might be decent for a race or flight sim.

  • +2

Too big for 1080p at the distance you'll be sitting to it, you'll see the pixels clearly.

    • +2

      Unless you have poor eyesight!

      • "lower socioeconomic eyesight"*

        please be more politically correct.

  • I'm looking at getting a gaming monitor for ps4, any gurus out here kind enough to share some advice/opinions? TIA

    • Because you use a controller (you… you do right?) you don't have to sit as close as us PC gamers, so this won't be as bad.

      • Unless you have poor eyesight

      • Ideally want a decent enough monitor that isn't curved so I can connect the laptop to it if i want and do work… Not sure how a curved monitor would be as i've never sat infront of one…

        • (yes i do use a controller)

    • … why not a tv?

I don't know why people comment that the pixels are visible, I have owned a 1080p 32inch screen for years and I couldn't see the pixels unless I was uncomfortably close to the monitor.

For the size and refresh rate of the monitor, I think the price sounds like a pretty good deal, albeit I don't really know what the quality of the monitor will be like.

    • Have you compared side by side to something that is 1440p or higher though? Thats when its super noticeable I find.

      • +1

Yep, I have a 32 inch 1440p monitor right next to my 32 inch 1080p monitor. People even say that they can see pixels on the 32inch 1440p monitor, I have no idea what the hell people are on about. My assumption is they are just straight up lying and have never used a monitor like that themselves.

        • Alternatively, you just have below average eyesight. Which is probably a bonus because it'll save you a lot of money.

Sadly, for those with better eyesight, we can spend $600+ for a high end 32" 1440p and still see the pixels pretty easily.

          • @Nukkels: It's really relative to how far away you are from it. I have 20/20 vision and I'm 1.2m away from a 27" 1080p panel and it looks fine. The desk is 80cm deep - of course, if I move in a little bit, I can discern the pixels.

I learnt a while back that some people sit <40cm away from a screen… That's just too close for me.

            • +1

@Goldfire: Almost nobody sits 1.2m away though, it's more like 70cm for most people. You're definitely a minority.

If you sit <40cm from a 32" screen, you'd get RSI in your neck!

            • +2

@Goldfire: I'm with you, I would prefer not to strain my eyes by sitting super close to the screen. I sit about 55cm away from the screen. Although that's why I purchase large monitors, so they're not right up in my face.

          • @Nukkels: Sure, I could believe that, if I hadn't just had my eye sight tested. I honestly think it's just the distance between people and their screens.

    • +1

Ignore them. They're the same as audiophiles.

    Kogan. Enough said.

  • Awesome. With those great big pixels and fast refresh rate it will be great for Tetris on speed.

Candid photos and videos look bigger. Bigger is better.

But, Kogan is a no no for me. It's been in my blacklist for years.

  • If you had to sacrifice 1 of a monitors specs, which one would you choose:
    1ms response time to 5
    2k to 1080
    10 bit to 8
    144hz refresh rate to 60

    • 1ms response time to 5ms. Still within 144hz's 6.9444ms window.

    • Response time. 1ms more often than not is marketing bullshit unless it is on a TN panel. I've watched a few reviews where the overshoot from the ultra fast response time modes is so bad it is essentially unusable. As long as the response time is quicker than the refresh rate the image will look fine, as stated by Rajeh (VA ghosting excluded). If you're competitive gaming the case will be different but for the average user you won't notice.

  • +1

Depends on what you use it for. For office use where you just want the extra real estate 1080p at 32" is ok. Fine for documents etc. Horses for courses

    • +3

That's not really how screen real estate works though…

  • -1

Anyone actually have this monitor? I'd imagine it would have huge ghosting issues as other VA panels that cost quite a bit more still have severe ghosting.

  • +1

I bought this at the $319 price but wish I'd read the comments here first. I thought I'd compliment my 4k with a nice big side monitor for work but for gaming and movies it's a fantastic huge screen but if you want to get close up for text documents then its not a good idea. Anyway… they are selling for $499 on Kogan again so if anyone wants this deal I'll sell you it for the price above if you cover postage otherwise if i send it back I'll lose postage. It's one day old as of writing this.
