    Stock up

    Dan said don't.

  • store brands are exactly the same still 10% cheaper

    • +11

store brands are exactly the same

      They don't taste the same.

      • I eat 4 pieces everyday. Every single day for many years. I slightly prefer Uncle Toby's and less Woolworths they have slighly different taste than other 3 but Coles, Aldi and Weet bix taste very close to each other.
But overall there is no difference

        • +9

My kids can easily tell the difference between the Aldi one and Weetbix.

        • +4

          Vitabrits has no added sugar.
Weetbix has, which is probably the difference in taste.

          • +2

@calcium: salt and sugar content will be the main differentiator between these cereals.

            • @garage sale: more to it then that. The way in which they are pressed and density, makes there consistency quite different especially when eaten with warm milk (weetbix goes to mush far quicker than vitabrits). I enjoy both(needed some variety after eating 9 vitabrits a day for 30 years) but would never mix in the same bowl, they are quite different (can’t speak of the home brand but perhaps need to give a try)

              • +1

@grover77: Oh and vitabrits has more whole grains - 99% versus 97%

                • +3

@grover77: I never understood why Vitabrits get 4.5 health stars and Weetbix get 5.

                  • +1

@Illyria: Probably same reason milo used to be 4.5 stars..

        • +1

I've been eating Weetbix every day for over 40 years. There is a difference, and since Coles and Woolies brought out the $5 box for 1.2kg as every day pricing it's not even worth looking elsewhere.

    • +1

Woolworths home brand are made from only wheat and salt, these and Aldi Gardenvale have sugar, malt and other stuff added.

    Money goes to a church

    • Woolies isn't a church….

      • +5

Seventh-day Adventists are though, and they own Sanitarium.

        • +6

I pay Woolies though, not the Seventh-day Adventists.

What does it matter if it is owned by the Seventh-day Adventists?

It might even get you some extra points on judgment day.

          • +1

@jv: Is it plus extra points or minus?

            • +3

              @bargainparker:

Is it plus extra points or minus?

You'll find out at the right time…

              I don't want to spoil the surprise…

              • @jv: I'd like to prepare beforehand. It's too late when the surprise hits you and it's not the one you hoped for.

          • +2

@jv: I prefer Everyday Rewards points

          • +1

@jv: seventh day adventist’s are vegetarians, so they have had time to work at vegetarian food for their own flock to get it a what they deem is optimized taste for a cereal biscuit.

            • @garage sale:

              seventh day adventist’s are vegetarians

approx. 30% of them are according to Dr. Google.

          • @jv: Separate post for judgment day bargains please.

  • I really dislike the taste of weetbix. Not only does it look like wet cardboard, it’s what I imagine wet cardboard tastes like

    • +1

I just tested for you. Wet cardboard (Amazon brand) has less sugar.

    • +1

I think you tried the gluten free one, now that… that's cardboard.

    • And Weetabix has quite a particular aroma that you either love or hate…

  • +4

The 1.2kg is $5 everyday and I have never seen it lower.

This deal is a 20% discount if you normally buy the value pack.

    • -2

And that's why this deal doesn't make any sense. If people stock up then they might as well buy the value packs and there will be no 50% saving! False economy.

  • +1

Weetbix sucks. Dunno why they feel the need to add sugar to a product like this. Vita Britz has zero sugar and doesn’t go instantly soggy. Tastes great with banana.

  • I use to think this was a healthy breakfast til I found out that wheat is very bad for you in any shape or form, especially with added sugar.

    • +1

wheat is very bad for you

and 5g too right? Bill Gates and Vaccinations?

    • +3

Yeah, I wonder how peasants survived for centuries, must have been cursing wheat all day long…

BTW, living is very bad for you too, you will die, but if you weren't living, you'd be fine.
