  • Thanks OP.

  • Does the black colored bar drive have a metal casing? I bought a similar design once and it was plastic.

  • anyone know the warranty for these items since they are from the US? Does Samsung AUS cover it if it breaks down?

Wouldn't it fall on Amazon to take care of it?

      • Not in my experience. Amazon have a limited DOA warranty. My failed Samsung SSD failed within a year and I took it Samsung Australia HQ. 11 days later they responded:

"Please be advised that Samsung is not liable for the products purchased from overseas , and it is not covered under warranty of Samsung Australia. Except where an International Product Warranty has been provided with your Samsung product, warranty service will only be provided in the specific country where the Samsung product was originally purchased. For example, if you have purchased the Samsung product within Australia, warranty service will be limited to Australia only."

Claimed under Samsung US warranty and cost $148 shipping. Lesson learnt!

how's write speed for bar plus with usb 3.0/3.1/3.2 gen1 (5gb/s)

old bar I get 20-25 write

    • This, I splashed out for one of these 6 months ago and it was the slowest hottest shittiest flash drive I've ever bought. Barely even sad about losing it months ago

      • I just hate the usb 3 jargons, from usb manufacturers upto 150mb/s upto 300mb/s, the write its so slow and hot that transferring 1gb takes ages.

What usb stick have you been using since.

        • I rarely use USB flash drives any more. I needed one to reinstall Windows on my laptop and bought this just for that purpose. Next time there's a ~$10-20 flash drive sale on here I'll just get whatever.

Shocking how bad the performance is. My 10 year old WD portable hard drive (spinning rust) easily get 100MB/s whereas this crappy flash drive barely got above 20

          • @Ezekiel2320: For the bar drives, I have a 128gb one and 60 is typical.

Then I copied some crap onto an external spinny drive and it was doing 100.

I wish I knew where my Sandisk Extreme went.

@Manny Calavera: are you referring to the 60 write or read.

Does the different prices- bar, extreme and extreme pro have different write speed cause they certainly have different prices

              • @[Deactivated]: Write. No idea what the read speed is because I just dump stuff to watch on my TV on it.

And no idea again, you're getting an anecdote from something I own.

I have one of the older (smaller) Samsung FIT drives, and it's great. I've had it in the coin section of my wallet for about three years, and it's still going strong, not showing any signs of physical damage.

While this is a good price for the newer Samsung FIT drive, if you want something physically smaller, you can get tiny micro-SD readers, smaller than this Samsung FIT drive. Here's one:
    https://www.miniinthebox.com/en/p/tf-microsd-to-sd-memory-ca…
Team it with a fast and reliable brand of micro SD card, and it's actually cheaper than the Samsung FIT drive:
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Samsung-Select-microSDXC-Adapter-M…

However, because the above card reader is USB2, you won't get as high a read speed as the Samsung FIT drive, you'll be limited to about 40MBytes/second. But if your "drive" ever gets physically damaged, you can always pop the micro-SD card out, and put it into a new reader.
