*Seems to require student/corporate access, such as UNiDAYs

HP is running a 30% off a whole bunch of laptops, including Envy, Omen, and Spectre series on their store.

I don't think cashback is eligible for this code, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Kicking myself for not buying a Spectre when they had the HP40% off deal. I think I'm just going to hold out till they bring it back, maybe early next year.

    • You and me both

  • Nope..wait for 4800u

    • Any particular reason? I the 4700u is an amazing chip. The power it has is plenty for 99% of office work. Unless you're doing video editing on the go? But that's pretty niche. The 4800U will also just cost more.

      • The 4800U will also just cost more.

        How much more?

      • 4700u is like 80% power of the 4800u, while 4750u is roughly 90-95%. For most of the light work, not even mention 4700u, 4500/4600 is enough but why not wait a little bit more time for the most intelligent low power cpu this year. It wont cost too much.

        • Hey Joeyrr. What did you say about the 4800h and 2060 laptop combo from PCCG https://www.pccasegear.com/products/50824/infinity-o5-ryzen-… The deal that you posted your reply to got taken down and I couldnt see it

          • @Alaken: I dont find the original post either. Inifinity O5 won't be released until next Friday from the above PCCG link.

The specs are great no need to worry about cpu itself. Only concern is if it has throttling issue (wait to see).

Another downside if say so, this 16gb ram seems a single channel. The cpu latency in single channel is higher than dual-channel (roughly 50% under same ram frequency).

My 13 year old Dell latitude finally died in march this year. I was trying to wait for ryzen 4000 later in the year and laptops just weren't available at the time. Finally they are out and now your advice is to wait for 4800. The 4700 is fast compared to the i7 10510U 10th gen intel and 1065g7. It's true to wait for a newer model if its vastly superior, but for people who were already waiting a long time the 4700 is fast af and they should bite the bullet if the discount is good. I did and am happy with my new inspiron black edition, although I had to settle for the 10510U], its fine for an adult going back to study. If you want to play games on these ultra portables then you purchased it for the wrong reason and you should have gotten something with a stronger graphics card… These laptops with fast cpu but weak gpu are great for productivity and study but struggle when you want to play games…

Worth noting these DON'T work with any active stylus technology (I believe the 15" model may? But do check)

Just a reminder, HP does pricematching.

It took 2 attempts as the first rep was lazy about it but last week I pricematched https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/p/1XV-000B-006C5 with HP it's meant to arrive tomorrow.

      How much after price match?

      • +2

        $1400 because of shipping

        • Hi please can you share your hp order number if comfortable as I tried pricematch with HP to newegg and they said not possible to match and can do if I can tell them order number. Thanks

          • @CheapsterOZ: 906122641322

            • @TheXylis: Thanks mate

              • @CheapsterOZ: Tried ordering just now but no luck after giving order number as well. Sales rep said graphics card is different as newegg is integrated and HP is dedicated graphics card. They wanted the name of sales rep who sold it and I thought they are just going in circles and avoiding to price match. Thanks heaps for your help any way.

Got a work HP and had a few personal laptops before that too. Never had a good experience with HP.

  • Need a deal on envy or spectre with 4k display.
