    • should be
its mandatory to include tax in australia now days

      • sydney the same price too!
        bah
paid 950 a few weeks ago lol

      • Prices are in Australian dollars and include charges/taxes as at 25 October 2011 but may fluctuate due to changes in charges/taxes.

        First sentence on the website

  • Just checked a random date in Feb12 for SYD-SIN, and it turns out it's $11 cheaper to go SYD-MEL-SIN than SYD-SIN direct!!!!!! wtf? lol

    • +3

I'd pay $11 to avoid the extra stop :)

      • +1

Or save $11 AND get extra SC/points? :P

    • Maybe it's a 747 instead of the A380 for that day to Melbourne?

  • Wish there was something over the christmas period. Prices are too high :(

    • If it was, I'd be gutted. Just bought tickets for more than that ONE way.

      • +3

        Don't worry, won't happen. It's called peak season for a reason :)

    • things tend to be cheaper after new year and cheaper yet after mid Jan

But that said, there were quite decent fares on Air China and China Southern. I'm not sure what the safety record for them are like.

  • Oh man, from the title I thought it was all those cities!! (jks)

Now I'm feeling hungry. Need a gastronomic multi trip with BKK for satay chicken sticks, HKG for some pork jerky, Singapore for chilli crab and Shanghai for dumplings. Possible for $888?

    • +5

surely pork jerky isn't the first food that comes to mind when in HK ?!

      • haha fair call, but right now I really want some! I miss this awesome place in TST which has a ginormous line and runs like the nazi soup kitchen…

  • Qantas site says $30 credit card fee does not apply if you pay by BPAY

However, if you get to the end of the checkout process and select BPAY, the price does not change from the credit card price. What gives?!

  • MEL-NRT (Tokyo) for $1016 for Feb-March period. Not bad, trying to decide to get this now or wait for jetstar to have another sale..

  • anyone know if qantas has in headrest Tv's like cathay for these flights?

    • Yes on A330-300

  • +1

As if fly Qantas when their pilots/engineers/ground crew can and will stike anytime.

  • Really good deal OP. Premium airline for shitty jetstar pricing

  • Is one way $444 ??? :O

    • Unfortunately not, full price airlines like Qantas does not work like that, one-way fare is never half the price of a round-trip fare.

A quick check shows one way SYD-SIN is around $760, and one way SIN-SYD is $500 (AUD equiv).

Closest you are gonna get to $444 each way is on Jetstar, which is around $460-480 each way.

  • If you buy using your Qantas frequent flyer points, do you need to pay tax/other charges?

    • Yes.

This is even better than using your points.

eg, return from Mel to HKD, will cost you 60,000 points + tax or around $350

    Lucky price :)

Emirates is generally cheaper (and better in my opinion) for the SYD-BKK return, priced at around $880 today but was $861 yesterday (I think it fluctuates with exchange rates).

Having said that I booked a Qantas flight yesterday for SYD-BKK return as I preferred the arrival time back to Sydney. Then I found it cheaper on zuji at only $873 including all taxes and booking fee! Fortunately Qantas have a price guarantee if you lodge a claim on the same day, we'll see how that pans out…

    • Update from Qantas:

…After assessing your claim, we have found the discrepancy will qualify for our Price Promise and happy to provide you with the following for your qantas.com Flight booking:

      • AUD13.86 to match the lower rate found. Please note the matched rate will be refunded to you once your travel has commenced. Your fare booked on qantas including taxes was AUD887.44 as we have taken out the AUD30 credit card service fee which we dont include as part of your fare.
      • 1000 Qantas frequent flyer points, in addition to the standard points offered for your flight booking…

Is 1000 points equivalent to $30 credit card fee? Next time I'll check Zuji first.

      • 1000 points is lucky to get you $5

    • Known about this promotion from an email of a travel agent. Then checked the proce via travel.com.au. Surprisingly found SYD/HKG at $775 returned for end of March for the family. Too excited booked it right away, after checked the other airlines' web sites! After the excitement gone, checked the Webjet, damn it actually cheaper by $68 for the whole family (cost around $4350 from travele.com.au)! Depressed, then send a email to travel.com.au to see whether they have price guarantee, the answer was NO! The lesson was Webjet maybe more expensive for buying 1 ticket, but could be cheaper if you buy 6 at a time!
Wonder does Webject charge credit card fee for Virgin's flight??
