It’s skincare stuff (saved you a click)

  • Just tried and it didn't work "BESTSKIN" is no longer available

    • Still works for me. Perhaps the product you tried isn't eligible?

  • Honestly (profanity) this brand and their ever-increasing prices. /r/asianbeauty get onto Korean skin care brands and save yourself loads of money and better quality products.

    • I've found Paula's Choice the only stuff that controls my oily and sensitive skin and have been too nervous to try other brands. I don't know anything about Korean skin care brands. Do you have any that you would recommend?

      • What Paula's Choice products do you recommend? I have the same skin type. For Korean beauty, check out Yesstyle which has their best sellers list of products.

I've been using the 2% BHA lotion exfoliant for years and works really well. I notice the difference when I don't use it for a couple of days. I found the gel version pretty ineffective but the liquid one is good too.
At night I moisturise with the Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator. It's a great formula but the pump dispenser is crap. Half the bottles I've had don't dispense properly, they say to bang it upside on a hard surface for a minute or two, but having to do that every time I want to use it, at night after the kids are in bed, is annoying as hell. I just ended up taking it apart and scooping it out.
Daytime I use the Hydralight Shine Free Daily Mineral Complex with SPF 15. I don't know if they've changed the formula recently cos it's got more of a white cast than I remember but it's still acceptable.
I have really sensitive skin and haven't had any reaction with these products. And no more caking on the powder either :)
          Hope this helps

          • @00broke00: Thank you! There's so many products in the PC family so it's hard to know what's good :)

            • @sydneyswans910: No probs. My oily skin used to be the bain of my existence :/ but now I reckon it's almost normal. If this Korean stuff is anywhere as good, I'll be a very happy camper

      • COSRX I found great for that. Ultimate honey moisturizing mask is honestly the best moisturiser I've recommended to anyone with oily skin. https://fiftyshadesofsnail.com/2015/10/02/cosrx-sleeping-pac…

Their low pH good morning cleanser as well.

An of course, their BHA/AHA - if you use paula's choice BHA/AHA then you'll find these familiar.

This is also quite good for a toner if you have oily skin https://fiftyshadesofsnail.com/2015/05/23/review-cosrx-natur…

BUT most importantly, their snail products. E.g https://www.roseroseshop.com/cosrx-advanced-snail-96-mucin-p…

NOW let me say that I think due to corona prices have gone up a lot, it used to be cheapest to just buy off ebay but now I think the best value is to use roseroseshop and do a big haul at once, though not sure on that.

There's also countless good Korean brands and skin care products that will amaze you how good they are, but I've found myself lazy in recent years and only stick to the same 2 brands + a 3rd for vitamin C.

        • Thanks for the info, I'll have more of a look into those products. I agree Paula's Choice has been getting more expensive, but it is still considerably cheaper than the big name brands. If these Korean brands are just as good for cheaper, I'm definitely keen to try.

@00broke00: I just did a big haul on roserose shop, check this https://imgur.com/pR8J0FN

Worked out to be about $340 aud for 16 items = $21 an item average.

Note that I bought some 10% niacinamide serums for less than $20 each; paula's choice sells them for like $60++

COSRX AHA/BHA (I didn't purchase this time as already have some) are probably even better than Paula's Choice ones or at the very least they're basically the same product - much cheaper than PC.

The cleanser I bought and the honey moisturising cream I highly recommend for oily skin.

If you wanna do a big haul, I recommend roserose; ebay is usually cheaper and can buy smaller amounts but I think covid-19 is inflating shipping prices for small korean/japanese ebayers. If you use roserose, play around in your cart with the shipping calculator, it goes off weight, try add items until you hit the next tier of shipping fees then subtract one so you get the maximum amount of items in that shipping tier.

I used PC from about 2011-2016 but their constant price hikes annoyed me plus I found out about asian/korean beauty and haven't looked back, so much better + better value than western stuff.

I would say pre-covid if I did a haul like this on ebay the average cost per item probably would have been a few $ less as well. But considering PC is probably $40 average per item it's still far cheaper and imo better products.

            • @flooressence: I'll give them a go then, thanks @flooressence.
Especially looking forward to trying the serums, used a couple from PC and they were good but pretty exxy. These Korean ones sound like the way to go, thanks
