I have checked and this is not available to existing amaysim customers wanting to switch to the Annual Plan, they will get only 120 GB.

amaysim has increased the Data offering on their new Long Expiry Annual Plan.

I'd prefer they decreased their price.

    Kogan $200 for 200gb. Catch $120 for 120gb.

Ripping out intl calls makes this Amaysim plan very uncompetitive.

    • +1

Yes would be a far better deal if it had international calls then I'd grab it.

  • Is this Amaysims idea of 12 months, i.e. 28 days per month or a proper 12 months?

    • +2

Nah this is 12 months. So 365 days (non-leap year). Also, amaysim's plan expire by-the-minute, and not by-the-day.
If you activate today, 10-Aug-2020 at 4:00:00 PM, your expiry will be 10-Aug-2021 at 3:59:59 PM.

I didn't know this thanks for the heads up

    • LOL, good point.

      As their website say,

      "renews every 1 year
Automatically renews for $200 every 1 year - how this works
You pay upfront (prepaid) for this plan"

Unless they have their own year definition, that will be a normal year.

  • In the past we have seen deals like https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/499807 from Telstra.
2$ less than this one and on 6 monthly basis.
Big catch is 20 countries international calls and Telstra, huhhh…

  • People want 30 day plans ban 28 day plans

  • This or the Woolworths plan?

    • +1

      Depends on your needs.
      Woolworths is 84GB data, against Amaysim's 150GB
Woolworths gives you 10% off Groceries, and may be a good consideration if you shop there at least $100 a month. Would get your cost down to: ($150 - 12 x (10% of 100)) = $30.

If you dont need the additional data, go for Woolworths. If 84 GB isn't enough for you, take Amaysim.

      • Telstra vs Optus as well.

I've had Amaysim before, and where i live there are some black spots (usually 1 4g bar at home) - keen to see what Telstra coverage would be like.

        • +1

Yeah it'd be better for you to try Telstra/Boost from a friend/family and observe the coverage. Using a particular operator depends entirely on the places you spend your time the most. I had amaysim before, now on Boost. For me, Telstra's coverage is far more better.

          • @djoz: how are the data speeds compared with optus/telstra -

I noticed that when calling on Amaysim the network switches from 4g to 3g for voicecalls so the coverage does get a tad better.

Does boost/woolworths have the same scenario of network switching at all?

            • +1

@eriklee: Boost uses Telstra which will give you VoLTE if your phone supports Band 28. Boost is the only MVNO Prepaid operator which has VoLTE ability. With VoLTE, you stay on 4G even on a call, and the audio quality is High Definition - you will certainly observe the loud, crisp, clear voice quality while talking over a VoLTE connection.
