Oppo Reno 5G 256GB (Optus Variant) $647 @ Harvey Norman (In-Store Only)

590

Has been slightly cheaper before ($599) but still very good value for a phone that retailed last year for $1500.

I highly rate this phone.. for the money it's brilliant particularly with the new Android update.

    • +3

Great phone. Still trying to get a glass screen protector that fits though and there is a bit of dust in the popup camera.

      • +3

I hear glass protectors don't work well with the in display fingerprint reader. One of the reason why Oppo pre applies a plastic protector for you out of the box.

    • Is it better than Huawei mate 20 pro? Thank you.

      • +3

Imo it's better apart from the battery and super charge. My mate 20 pro lasts a couple of days where the wife only gets 1 day out of the OPPO.

OPPO feels much smoother to use and the front camera is fantastic

        • How do the cameras compare?

          • @payless69: Cameras are close however imo the oppo wins

      • See my comment here after owning both. The only real annoyance I've noticed switching to the Reno 5G is the lack of waterproofing (a bit of a pain at the moment being in winter but not a dealbreaker).

        • I use the phone alot to surf the internet. Is the screen resolution much better for the mate 20 pro?

          • +2

@Jared17: Mate 20 Pro has a higher resolution screen but I've never really noticed a difference unless using VR.

            • @donnot: Thanks. The camera wise, also not much difference between the two?

              • +2

@Jared17: Much faster to launch and take the first shot on the Reno and zoom is significantly better. Can't seem to notice much of a difference between the two other than that.

  • Can't wait for the x2 pro to go down.thatll probably be my next phone

How do i buy it? Oh instore only my bad, won't bother my HN wont have it

    • Yep, this for me. Gonna hold out for the 4a next month I think anyway

  • How is this if i compare with Samsung note 20 ultra

    • it's not ultra in any way

    • +5

      Worse, but much cheaper.

  • work on 5g Telstra network?

    How's battery life on 5g

  • Is this and oppo 10x same , but that has dual sim and without 5g?

  • +3

I want dual sim.. this stops me

    • I am living without it, and also without the 3.5mm plug

    • -1

Better to wait deal on oppo 10 x , which has dual sim but no 5G

  • Hopefully the camera is better than the Oppo Reno Z. Never owned such a crappy camera phone in my life. Does HN, have these on display that you can try in store? Just can't remember if they display phones or not

    • +1

Did you try download GCam for it?

      • I downloaded it, but not sure how to use it. Will watch a video soon

    • +5

Camera is good. One of the better smartphone setups from 2019. You can't really complain. The stock camera beats the ported gcam in most lighting situations. Not sure about videos as I mostly use it for stills.

      • Thanks. I've watched a few reviews and this review comparing to 1plus 7 pro got me interested. Camera seems alot better on the 5G. Might buy one. HV is closed, so gives me a night to think about it

  • is Harvey Norman still allowed to open in Victoria during this Stage 4 lockdown? How are they essential?

    • Phone orders are still allowed with car park contactless pick up, and/or they can arrange delivery, AUS Post/courier etc if more than 5km away

      • so means that's no way any victorian able to purchase 1. the doors are shut, and for any pick up, order has to be made online, and in this case, this offer only available in-store. So, no deal.

        • I ordered mine by phone….

  • +1

I got one, still not using it,i will, soon [note, it is heavy]

In any case i purchased here in Vic from my local HN store and they ordered it from South Australia,, Marion store i think, S/Aust. have tons of stock

    I paid $599

Sent overnight in a air bag

    • How did you get it for $599?

      • +1

As per the post, was $599 before on special, no idea why the raised the price, it is without doubt the best phone for sale at that price-point, its like near $1000 off

Just ask if you want one, they can only say no

@Brofung OPPO Reno 10x Zoom 5G Green priced matched at mobileciti_estore + I think 3% cashback with shopback at the moment. and Amazon

    • +1

Thanls mate, $599 at Mobileciti after discount

      • Not sure what discount brings it to $599? Is there a code?

        • +1

Thanks @pharmacy. You just helped me save big time. Came to $597, even cheaper than the previous deal at $599. Try incognito, they gave me a $50 off code for over $200 spend. I don't even have eBay plus.

    This or Pixel 4a?

    • Wondering the same thing!

Also, is this locked to Optus? I need to lern2read

This unlocked phone includes full manufacturer’s warranty and features Optus network branding

  • +2

I bought this phone last deal and its an amazing phone for the price :)

  • I have never tried Oppo before, having Samsung s9+ at the moment and was thinking how is that one compared to it?

    Thanks

  • I'm still enjoying my Reno2 Z but good to see an affordable 5G option that's viable as an upgrade for me.

  • +1

Does anyone know if there is a way to flash this to a non branded ROM? Like XSA so as to get rid of the Optus logo and apps?

  • there's no way to check in-store stock levels on HN's site?

    • I was able to check store stock in Adelaide. Only store that had them was Marion and I rang to confirm.

  • +1

Just picked up one of the Jet Black models at HN Marion (SA). Got two Suncorp gift cards ($500 & $100 with 5% off = $575) and then asked the salesperson if they could do a better price. He came down to $629, so all up it only ended up costing me $604. Not quite the $599 they had a couple of months ago, but pretty damn close. If you find a store with stock and you don't mind dealing with HN, it's always worth asking for a better price.

    • +1

      Actually, I just realised I made a mistake with my calculation. $500 + $100 - 5% = $570 + $29 difference = $599, so I actually got it for the previous best price. Winner winner. :)
