    Not working :(

  • Compatible with HomeBridge?

  • +1

Try this if you want a local service that can be driven off Home Assistant or similar. No need for a Chinese app. https://opengarage.io/

      Same same.
      Doesn't work
"The promotional code you entered is not valid."

      • Unsure if joking, but he said to try the product, not the coupon…

        • Either he edited his comment or I had a brainfart!

    • Does it work with Google or Alexa? No? NEXT!

    Code not being accepted.

  • Not sure if this will be seen but does anyone know a compatible controller for the acdc motorised solutions garage door

Haven't found a controller compatible with it

  • Code no longer working?

    • It expired over an hour ago.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Controller-Smartphone-Compatible-A…

Saw this one seems good enough no coupon required

  • Damn, went to check my garage model and this expired :( would be handy to check if the garage is closed as I get super paranoid it's left open while we are out

    • +1

Amazon occasionally sell them in their lightning deals, which is where I picked mine up.

The app will notify you when the door has been activated, and also at a pre configured time delay if the door is still open.

I use the xiaomi wifi reed sensors to check if my garage is closed. I have even set them up to notify me each time my garage opens and closes. I tried to put a notification if the garage is open for longer than 5 mins, but wasnt able to do it successfully. But I atleast get notifications each time it opens and closes - cost me ~$10 for the sensors and ~$30 for the gateway. Working for over last 2 years like a charm.

      • I have very minimal tech knowledge lol I looked up the Xiaomi Gateway thing before and felt overwhelmed. Is it relatively simple to set up?

        • Yes - I think most if not all smart products these days are fairly simple to setup, especially the packaged ones. I consider myself an above average user but still struggled to set up the gateway on home assistant on raspberry pi, etc. so I wouldn’t recommend you that route.
But just plugging it in, installing the mi home app and following instructions should be easy as. Same for the wifi reed sensors.

What happens if a thief yells from outside the window "hey google open the garage door"

    • +1

You can set it to have a PIN.

      • Thanks, was just about to ask the same question.

        • What if you rename Garage to SesameBangBang or something?

          • @debo: Just tested that - works fine.

  • Seems to have expired early…

    -Alexa, open my neighbor's door.
    -Door's opening
    -Oops!…

    • Exactly.. I'm all for automation but I think doors / entry points are a no no with smart assistants.. That'll be the next thing schmucks will do.. Roam the streets shouting "Hey Google, open door/garage" and wait to see what works then pinch your stuff!

      • Yea, probably don't put your Google Home on the front yard or post box.

  • Can this tell if the garage door is opened by hand or using a remote controller?

    • I can comment based on my similar Kogan setup - and no - the sensor transmits door open/close notifications regardless of source trigger.

I'm at work. Wife drives out. Garage notification sent. I ring "Hi darl, where ya goin?" (creepy….)

      • I think it need an extra sensor at the door

  • I now have two of these for my two garage doors. Obviously the second was easier to instal and I am over the moon with their simplicity, ease of use, security and abiliry to open or close wherever I am. OK Google opens either door and insists on the Pass number which adds to the security. I highly recommend these.

  • Those with Home Assistant, and dont mind a bit of DIY, you can make your own using a sonoff sv. All kept local via mqtt and home assistant
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMepwpyjMCY

  • Can someone outline what the use case for this is? Like do people ask Google to open the door when you know you're about to leave? Do you talk to your phone to open it as you're coming home? I'm just curious what the advantage is of this over just pressing a remote button on the garage wall or in your car?

    • It's a spare key if you're walking home
Let someone in if they're waiting downstairs

One time, I was nearly at the train station when the thought of "did I close the garage door? “ came into my head and I had to turn back to check (yes it was). Also for people with unobservant spouses, they don't have to get out of bed to check if the garage is closed at 4am in the morning 😴

    • Bugger, just lashed out on the $52 one posted earlier up the thread! :(

    • Thanks. I think they are the same thing under different brand. Glad i missed the amazon deal

    • thanks hackseed. Just purchased with au plug with 5% cashback. u should post this deal!

  • For those that missed this, could we please have a new code?

  • Got mine today.
Took me approx an hour to complete the installation and cable managment and now I am up and running!

Only issue I see is, Alex is responding to "Switch on" instead of "Open commands".

    Nonetheless, easy installation. Working well.

  • Mine is still not shipped - anyone else in the same boat?
Op - can you please advise on when it will be shipped? Thanks!

Edit: Just realised Op may not be associated. Will check with the seller on amazon.

Reporting back here after receiving mine today - extremely excited. I was worried that my item wasn’t even shipped till yesterday. I read on amazon that it may happen if the item is due to be shipped from a warehouse close to the delivery location. I recieved the shipped notification late yesterday and already recieved my package before lunch today. Skipped my lunch and spent time setting it up. Setup was easy as. I have a steel line SD800. Took me under 20 mins to set up. For anyone with the same garage opener, use the two reciever terminals at the top.
Additionally, to optimise security, I hooked a wifi plug to the main garage power. My plan is to switch off power to the garage door over night and also when I am away. Will switch on power when I come back and before opening the door.
Extremely happy with my purchase so far, although it’s been only a few hours.
The product quality is not much different to the sonoff switch - it is probably the same thing with some additional stuff soldered on. So for the guys who are handy with that kind of stuff, might save money by DIY. I am not into soldering etc and this works perfectly for me. Each to their own I believe.
      Cheers.

      • Thank you for your detailed review. I missed out on this recent promotion. Might just pay full price and get one.

I have same Steel Line SD800 at my place. Do you mind shedding some more light on receiver terminals. I can see 4x terminals on top - Red-Black-Black-Red. Which one did you use??

        I'm sorry I'm noob.

        • +1

The red and black on the left called reciever. The order doesn’t matter. Just plug the two wires coming out of the device into it and it will work.

  • +2

Just a FYI for anyone wanting to fit one of these to a Boss BRD1 (or its Steel Line equivalent). Fitting one to my BRD1 today.

Disassemble the cover by popping the 2 clips at the bottom and removing the 2 screws either side of the courtesy light. Remove the 2 screws holding the circuit board onto the base, flip the board over. You'll see 3 terminals in a row, J2, J3 and J4. The trigger is via J4 (ground) and J3. J2 is 12v, which is not used. Use some female spades and connect some twin flex to J3 and J4. Drill a hole in the side of the box and run the wire through the hole. Reassemble and connect the wires to this kit's corresponding trigger wires.

Don't forget to disconnect the mains before you do this stuff.

  • My parcel arrived yesterday from this offer, instead of what I ordered I received two LED light show stands, like WTF. Now to go through the process of returning, not happy!!

  • Has anyone tried to install this on a ATA garage door opener?

this is the manual (https://www.ata-aust.com.au/AtaAust/media/Manuals/GDO-9v2-En…) , but for the life of me i can't figure out where i would plug in the wires.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks guys

    • I just installed one on another brand opener and worked first go. Looks to me like terminal block (01) is the right area and the O/S/C INPUT and 0v would be where the actual wires go - on pages 8 & 9.

      • Thanks a lot Mate! will buy one and give it a try :)
