  • don't these only work for Shure?

    • +2

Compatible with all Shure detachable earphones with MMCX cable connectivity.

    • Yup, and Bluetooth 5.2 - complete with low latency and higher fidelity codecs - is about to be in the mix.

Should be an improvement over LDAC/aptX.

    • They should work for anything that has a mmcx connector and which doesn't have outlandish resistance. Not sure if the output voltage and current but my reading from a few months back suggested they would be appropriate for the vast majority of in ear monitors.

  • These look interesting!! I have Shure SE846. The reviews on Amazon don't seem amazing though, has anyone used these?

    • +1

I can't make comment on these Shure, but I've been using the Fiio LC-BT2 for a little while and really enjoying it with my IEM's.

    • I love them, the battery life is much better than the BT-1s and they support multipoint connections. Although I use them with 215s and am not an audiophile, so not sure how to comment on audio quality!

    • +1

They do work great with the upgraded BT5.0 but the design is bulky and clip is pretty bad. I would go looking for different options esp with something as nice as the SE846.

    • If you own se846 I guess you are looking for quite high level of earphone performance, why try to make it as Bluetooth earphone?

      • I'd use bluetooth with my SE846 if a phone doesn't come with a headphone jack or in transit.

Fortunately still got my V30 with the quad DAC, though phones with headphone jacks are becoming a rare breed. Stationary at home or work of course use cabled.

      • Because bluetooth is much more convenient whilst the sound quality is still 90% compared to a cord on the formats you will find on most phones.

    • +1

I have the SE846 and started off with the Shure BT2 and moved to the Fiio UTWS1. I don't really have a problem with the BT2 except it was a bit bulky for running. The Fiio UTWS1 is a much better fit for running. In terms of sound quality, I would say both are similar but they are about 80% of the peak volume vs a corded solution. Both the Shure BT2 and Fiio UTWS1 don't have great mics if that is important for you.

    • I use these with my SE545 and SE846, they work well. I'm no audiophile, but I forgot these were wireless a few times.

The battery life is good, I get almost 9 hours on a good day.

The clip is where it kind of sucks. Maybe if I had a shorter neck or a taller collar it will be good, but it's more comfortable for me to leave it dangling.

    • I use these with my Shure SE846 and they work great. Audio quality great, range is pretty impressive too, can walk to the kitchen and remain connected to laptop in my home office.

I also run regularly with these, I just shove the receiver inside the collar of my shirt, never had an issue.

      Multipoint support is also great.

    • FYI the more recent release of the 846 comes bundled with this exact Bluetooth cable.

Still, I'd recommend the earstudio es100 or one of the fiio devices mentioned below.

Earth (aka.landfill) is getting hammered by non-battery replaceable gadgets. Should be banned.

    • I'm not sure if banning them is practical, but throwing out something that's perfectly fine because the battery died is very wasteful. Unfortunately it's not going to change. Really just need to hope we get a really high cycle battery before too long.

      • I mean there are recycling companies that handle such electronic waste, and many councils have free services tied into this.

        • Recyclable != Recycled. Former's been debunked in recent 4 Corners program - in practice, it's an elaborate hoax.

          • @AlexF: My understanding is that you don't want the company to be exporting anything toxic, but otherwise to just research what your council is doing.

Electronics are highly recyclable if the company knows what it's doing, and it's an important thing to do given the pacing of device upgrades in the world today.

            • @jasswolf:

research what your council is doing.

the council is doing what every other government institution is doing - outsourcing the problem to someone else. As “War on waste” program showed - it inevitably ends up in either Australian or Asian landfill. “Recyclable” label is a hoax perpetrated to make population feel at ease about buying more stuff.

              • @AlexF: You can't apply such a blanket statement on anything of the sort. Recycling is not a hoax, it's just not a well regulated business in this country it seems.

  • Note there are a number of these that are fake from non authorised sellers on amazon.

$89.89 if getting from Amazon UK

Although I think this would be a much better deal, SE215 + Bluetooth dongle for $169 (I've seen it as low as $149 from Amazon AU a few weeks ago)

    • I think this is the old Bluetooth dongle. I think AddictedtoAudio is selling the SE215 with newer dongle for the same price.

  • Check out the Fiio UTWS1 if you don't want the cord between the two units.

  • Sony should make a new version of their MW600 (pity probably not market for it to viable).

Would recommend the earstudio es100 at this price point.

Has balanced, unbalanced, lots of decent codecs, 10 band EQ, various filters, incredible app for Android and iPhone. And good sound quality too.
