A lock similar to the one in this deal. Good price considering it's usually sold ~$90. Even Wiggle has it ~$60 (excluding delivery fees).

  • Hey OP - how would you compare this and the previous deal? I have an escooter that I really need a lock for but have been lazy and now I have these two on my radar. For $10 less would you have any reasons to recommend the Kryptolok over the Evolution Mini 7?

this is rated 6 vs the mini 7/10. the mini is 13mm vs 12.7mm steel shackle. (Not sure if an extra 0.3mm will do much difference. But you're also factoring in the size - for an escooter you might not need it.

Exactly, lower security rating but all depends on your need budget. Not all of us can afford high-end locks. If you're securing an Escooter maybe you should invest in something more solid. Take measurements and see whether the lock is long enough too. My rule-of-thumb is invest ~10% of the the value of the bike in its security.

    • for an escooter, just make sure the shackle itself can fit through your wheel. Assuming your wheels are similar to my xiaomi escooter, the rear disc brake will block locks that has shackles that are too thick.

14mm shackle is the max, I have found, for my escooter - using this lock https://mobil.abus.com/int/on-road/Locks/U-Shackle-Locks/U-S… - and this require some fiddling to get it through the wheel.

escooters really need to provide an easier way to lock it up.

  • Sold Secure is 6. For safety, try to get rating of 9 or 10

Thanks for the link OP, bikes seem to be a very hot item for thieves atm (or maybe I'm just more aware since purchasing an expensive bike).

This lock seems to be better value for me - https://www.amazon.com.au/Kryptonite-Evolution-Mini-7-Bicycl…

$10 more and has a slightly higher security rating (7 vs 6), also includes the flex steel cable.
