Looks good. 3 units for $176, which should cover most homes.

  • Now for a deal on the MW3 3 pack - thats all I need :)

Not familar with these multi piece mesh routers - if we have a single story house and a central main router location, is there any benefit to go with a mesh system?

    • +4

Only if you find dead spots or reduced throughput around the edges or in certain rooms. No benefit if you're happy with the current router's performance.

      • Thanks for that.

    • Currently using 5 devices. 3 connected with each other via wire and 2 wireless. Good devices but software control is bit dud. But I can control all devices from anywhere.

Just in case people jump on it thinking it’s the lowest ever, it’s been lower before.

  • I have mw3 and they are awesome 👏

    • Are they easy ? Ie could my parents set it up?

  • i think $150 is a good price for 3 pack, specially with the new MW12 due to come out later this month so this would still be a bit expensive for my liking

  • Shows $182.94 now

    • yep they put the price up!

      • That's how Amazon works. Prices are dynamic based off supply and demand, especially when stock is low.

  • What happens with a mesh like this when you want to upgrade? Do you have to throw out the old nodes, or do they still talk to each other but at lower speeds? Do they have to be the same brand?

    • +1

Tenda support mixing MW nodes but not with other brands - yes they will talk to each other at the lowest speed. If you have MW6 (like I do) and want to add MW12 in the future, just add the new nodes and keep or remove the old ones - they should all work together.

      • What sort of speed you can achieve after having this mesh system? For example, speed test near the main router is 80mbps download and what sort of speed you can get on the second floor or far corner? Previously I purchased TP Link M4, It does give me the good coverage. However I found that the good coverage doesn't mean you get the good speed comparing to the traditional access points. In my case, I usually get around 90mbps near the main router on my first floor but I only get around 60mbps on my second floor by using access points or Tp Link M4. Thanks

        • Depends on your topology and whether you have a mixture of wired nodes and wireless nodes.

Wireless nodes MAY be slower as they need to connect to your client device AND to their upstream node. This may be what you are experiencing. But this can depend a lot on what your network. If your mesh network is faster than your client devices/endpoints, or faster than your Internet connection, you may not notice it.

This applies whether you are using a mesh network, or multiple access points/extenders.

  • Hmm, I haven't used the MW6 before - each node has 2x Gb ethernet ports. Does that mean all 3 nodes can be wired to your LAN? When I try to research, Tenda's information seems to refer to '3 identical mesh nodes' (see OP's description), but other times they seem to infer there is one WAN port and one LAN port on the primary mesh node; 2x LAN ports on additional mesh nodes.

tl;dr - can all these nodes be wired into my LAN?

  • I would be keen on two if anyone wants to buy the third one off me?

    • Just buy the 2 pack.

  • I have TPG nbn fttc , the tenda nova doesn't appear on there Modems supported by TPG technical support page.

anyone know how it works or if it works with tpg fttc? thank you for your advice

    • FTTC you don’t supply modem, the NBN does. You get an access point you plug your router into. So it should be fine.

  • Anyone know is this will work with optus HCF?

  • I'm currently with Dodo for NBN. The NBN box and router are placed in the study at the front of the house. Unfortunately my lounge where most of wifi electronics doesn't get very good wifi speed. about 30% of the time I can't even stream video at 1080. Also the garage where I just set up a new TV and soundbar setup doesn't get wifi to those new products even though my phone and iPad do. Would a mesh setup help with this?

  • The pirce is now 208. Ebay has better deals.

  • Can someone please help with my Query. Can you add 1 more mesh and make it a network of 4 mesh around the house?
I may start to resell my NBN to neighbors :-) (Joke)

    • Yes you can

  • Wouldn't these replace the current router you have? i.e the first MW6 node acts as the router or do you bridge the first node to your router and disable WiFi on your main router?
