[Refurb] Dell Premier Wireless Keyboard and Mouse - KM717 $55 C&C (Brisbane) or $70.95 Delivered @ Megabuy

171

Was searching for a new keyboard and mouse. Was hoping for a logitech MX keys for the keyboard and a MX master 3 but couldn't justify the price. Did some research and was considering purchasing this set for $120 but then I came across this refurb.

Prices for a brand new set are currently selling from $118 (+ Delivery) to $169 which i think makes this great value with a 12 month warranty.

Here's the link from Dell Directly for a better write up on the keyboard and mouse.

  • Appreciate the post, good find. Looking at some of the reviews the materials differ from the MX Keys though - plastic in the Dell vs aluminium in the Logitech makes the latter super-weighty. Be good to see if anyone has first hand experience of the Dell to share

Yep definitely not expecting the same quality as the MX Keys but given it's about a third of the price (Based on the best avaliable price of $200 for the windows model ) and comes with a mouse i'm willing to give it a crack.

Worst case i'm sure i'll make my money back reselling it and upgrading.

This company has a terrible reputation for misleading advertising and some of the worst customer service around.

For anyone who doesn't know about megabuy yet, checkout feedback from their customers before you consider placing an order. A couple of links to get you started.

ProductReview feedback (Sudden rush of 5 star reviews recently from one post wonders makes me dubious given their history but make of that what you will)

Whatever do you mean? Like manipulate the market to dictate how much an item should sell for? 😜

        • They've cleaned their act up a lot. I've put quite a few orders through them for work, including one a week or so ago for over $3000 - delivered the next day.

Only real complaint is relatively high postage cost and payment surcharges. However, they often still work out a fair bit cheaper than alternatives.

    • I was tossing up between the two, but as OP pointed out its a lot cheaper than the mx keys. I think I paid retail ~$120 for the dell set. Really good keyboard, multi PC function is a godsend and has all the multimedia functions too without using fn keys. Keys are plastic, top layer of board is a metal finish bottom base is plastic. Slight incline, not as much as a normal keyboard

Only gripe is after heavy wfh use I'm starting to see abit of discoloration between some keys, it looks like the graphite colour finish is rubbing off. Battery life is not bad, i think I might have recharged my ikea rechargables twice since March? Thats Mon-Fri about 10 hours a day though YMMV.

Would buy again. I think the main concern here is trustworthiness of the seller as somebody else has pointed out.

and to add, the mouse is "mash potatoes". I'm using the keyboard with a MX master 2S which is a great colour match too.

Be aware, the mouse in this package is not particularly ergonomic and for anyone with larger hands, is very difficult to hold on to. They keyboard however it fantastic.

    • True, I have this set…horrible mouse. Keyboard is good.

logitech MX keys is great, using it since March. Very happy with it.

I have the Dell Premier Set. Highly recommend. Best feature is i can seamlessly switch connections between my work laptop and my personal macbook. I purchased new for $120 after a JB pricematch. $55 for refurbished with warranty is worth a shot.

    • Awesome to hear, that was a key reason why I chose it as ill be using it between multiple devices.

  • I wonder how many cookie crumbs will i find under the keys.

  • +1 for keyboard - excellent although I advise turning it off at the end of each day as the battery drain is fast in my opinion.
    -1,000,000 for the mouse. Junk.

    • Thanks for the feedback on the mouse. What would you recommend instead?

      • I use a wired mouse. Just a basic one. I'm not really up to speed with newer ones and I've used OK wireless one's in the past. This one i found very inaccurate and jerky.

  • Currently using this set now and agree with everyone else here. Keyboard is awesome, perfect feel for typing but that mouse is horrid. Don't know why they made it arch so weirdly and definitely not comfortable.

I use this keyboard daily. The switch between the 2.4GHz receiver and two other BlueTooth devices is nice. It seems to work well and doesn't feel like a chore to use day in day out. The mouse is pretty garbage though.

    • skegger I'm hoping you can help me been trying to find bluetooth on option 2 / 3 on may laptops and desktop tried holding button down not sure how to get it to sync mode or if mine is faulty perhaps? The dongle USB is working fine however.

      • +1

Enable bluetooth on your laptop or desktop. Flick the switch on the keyboard. Detects the keyboard and wants you to type in the numeric 6 digit code. Done.

Did it yesterday with my Macbook (switch setting #2) and my Dell desktop (#3)

        • Thank you! Easier to sync than I expected :) My laptops sadly didn't detect it on bluetooth old models only my desktop machine. Other devices work fine on them maybe bluetooth version is too old on laptops. Ahh well keyboard is still decent to type on main machine.

  • Thanks philmurray91 I need replacement work keyboard logitech K800 and Solar one.

  • Note this is OOS now.

Mine got delivered today in Sydney - remarkable given it was Couriers Please.

Check the batteries when they arrive - 1 set of my AAA were pretty much dead. Not a big deal given I have Ikea Laddas at hand but still mildly annoying. Keyboard feels good, compact size. Types well. Mouse is decent, it's not gaming mouse but seems to do the job - haven't noticed any jerkiness so far. Good value for $70-ish delivered.
