$20.75 Inc postage for 6 on eBay - my link was not referral or affiliate so no idea why was unpublished

    • I can't find it eBay other than the Coles deal that's the same as Amazon. No idea why you were unpublished, but feel free to share with me in a direct message?

Canned corned beef from Amazon? 2020 is out of control.

    $4.50 in Aldi

Are you sure? I’ve only ever seen their own brand and it’s ~$2.50 a tin.

      • -1

which tasted 90% similar to the hamper

        • I don’t get it, can the negger explain that neg? Aside from c.o.o there isn’t a huge difference between the two, even if the hamper one is marginally better

      • We bought a few from Aldi and it was really nice, let alone healthy!

      • I picked up a tin to try it out, it's on reduced price red ticket, $2.29. The texture is not as good as Hamper, but acceptable. One thing I dislike about Hamper is it mexed with beef heart gristle, I mean the white chewy gristle.

  • It says 100% beef in Amazon description & then lists the Ingredients: :
Beef (90%), Beef Hearts, Salt, Vegetable Gums (412, 407a, 410), Mineral Salt (508), Preservative (250).

    • it refers to the fact that all the meat used is beef not mutton or other offcuts.

      • I was just thinking this is misleading. Maybe if a label said 100% Australian beef, id infer all the meat came from Australia.

  • This is price matching Coles

  • How do you put it in salads?

    • Small Cubes works
well it did 30 or so years ago
may have tested better too :)

      • Most certainly……you used to be able to slice "corned dog" quite thinly as it was a solid, semi-dry block (thinking original Fray Bentos).
Haven't had a decent tin for many years as now they all have far too much aspic/ gunge and fall apart when cutting.
Most have the consistency and taste of a tin of dog food so stopped buying, Aldi's is pretty bad now too.

Also, when you consider how much this is per kilo ($13.91/kg or $15.44/kg), it's cheaper to buy real beef!

      Chum or Pal?

  • Good for an occasional breakfast. Mix some with mashed potato, diced onion and parsely or peas and cook in a frying pan.

Light spray of oil, fry one side til crispy then turn and repeat. Serve with poached egg/eggs.
