Refurbished iPod Nano 6th Generation $99 Delivered, Back for The Third Time

110

Was checking the Dealfox website hoping that some of the Extreme cards have come back in stock (they haven't), noticed that they've put up this deal again, which was the same deal as this before - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/55136.

Again note that it's:
- the 6th generation, not 7th generation
EDIT 1- it appears that there is no hardware difference between the 2 generations, main change is software-based
EDIT 2 - now it appears that the iPod Nano announced on the 4th of October (along with the iPhone 4S and iPod touch) doesn't classify as a update in generation..
- a refurbished model with minimum of 6 month Apple International care
- comes only in blue colour

With Dealfox's good reputation and quick delivery, hope this is a deal for some of you..:)

  • Anyone know whether refurbished model got a new battery ?

    • +1

Yes. The refurbished unit comes with a new battery, outer metallic case, and new whatever else that was originally faulty (e.g. it could be the screen, chipset or perhaps even both. Not to mention it's thoroughly tested and comes with Apples 12 month warranty so essentially it is brand new.

Okey, Thanks for the reply, no offence. Where did u get that ? I mean the source of your information.

      • Im not sure that's entirely correct. I got one from this site last time and I was very disappointed that there was visible scratches and bumps in the metal casing, so that clearly wasn't replaced. Unless of course, this is not how it should be and I am entitled to a refund.

        Any opinions?

I don't think there is any difference between 6th and 7th gen iPod Nano other than the software which can be updated in iTunes correct?

But that being said, $99 delivered isn't that much cheaper than the street price of around $140-145 for a brand new 7th gen (as a result of the price drop + discounts at various stores). Better yet if you're an Apple EPP customer, that $140 is inclusive of free engraving too!

EDIT: In hindsight as a percentage it's a big difference but if it were me I'd just spend the little bit extra and enjoy the hassle free newness but I can't dispute that this price isn't too bad.

    • Yeah, it does appear that the main (and only?) difference between the 2 generations is software…but still, $99 for an iPod nano may present good value for some..

    • +1

The difference between the 6th and 7th gen is that the 7th gen hasn't been released yet…
Yes, you can update the 6th gen's software/OS in iTunes.

6th Gen and '7th Gen' are exactly the same. Just update the software n u have the same exact nano. If u don't mind the blue and refurbished, this price is pretty nice.

  • Would've got one but probably not on blue.

    Your information is wrong.

"…[it's] the 6th generation, not the recently released 7th generation (EDIT - it appears that there is no hardware difference between the 2 generations, main change is software-based, to 1.2)"

The 7th gen has not been released yet…
A software update doesn't mean a hardware upgrade.

Stop being so lazy and do so research… http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1353

    • Um, ok? Sorry, my bad..I shall change it to "soon to be released'…

      • -1

"soon to be released" How do you know this? A release date has not been set as far as I'm aware.

Instead you changed it to "…recently launched…". It hasn't even been announced yet…
Just so you know, the order is: Announcement of product, release of product to the retailers and then retail launch of product.

If you're gonna tell us about a product, at least have the correct information.

        • Ok, I may have made a bit of an assumption that the iPod Nano being announced at the same time as the iPhone 4S and the iPod touch is considered a 7th generation launch:

          http://www.techshout.com/macintosh/2011/05/7th-generation-ip…

However, I do stand corrected, based on your apple link…I'll re-edit my post again…

        • "…Pod Nano being announced…" As I said, it hasn't been. You're referring to an update. For the iPod Nano, all they announced is a software/OS revamp, that's it.

I had a look at your link, these guys are referring to the update as "the 7th gen" for some unknown reason.

You'll definitely know when the 7th gen has been announced…

  • I snapped one of these up last time. I ummed and arhhed about $99 refurb, $140 new and so happy I went for the refurb. Save about 28% and works just the same, its only a ipod after all. Only deal breaker would be if you didn't like blue.

  • i first read this as refurbished for the third time
