How cheaper larger SSD has become. I remember when a 1TB SSD was about $800 and people didn't believe me that it would be a fraction of the price in a few years time. And now we have 1TB SSD for about $165-180 and 2TB SSD for about $400-440. In a year or so the 2TB SSD will probably be about $300 every day.

    • I still remember purchasing my first Sandisk USB Drive 1GB for $99 from Big W

      • Try a 128MB Sony USB with blazing USB 2.0 speedsnfor $99. It was a big deal for me heading into middle school. Still have it today.

  • I have old copies of the green guide in Melbourne with 20GB spinning hard drives for $1000.

Please post as a separate bargain.

  • Is this relatively easy to install as an inexperienced user? (I have a dell desktop and I want to get a second SSD).

    • It's easy to install. You just need to ensure that you have a spare NVMe slot for it.

Depending on your use case, you may be better off getting a SATA ssd.

      • You are right. The sata 2.5 is probably more suitable for my Dell desktop.

  • I have been hanging out for a deal on a 2tb m.2 drive.

Seems pretty good to me. Now to justify it lol.

  • I just shelled out for a 2TB Sata SSD. 100 bucks less, but I would have paid extra for the etxra speed.

Good to see prices getting more reasonable on the larger drives. The days of spinning rust are numbered!

    Thanks ordered.
Available for $392 from Amazon US if you got prime free delivery and can wait extra for the delivery :)

Yeah but what about the local 5 year warranty you get if bought from Computer Alliance. I don't think you'll be getting the local warranty from the parallel import from Amazon US. All for what about $3 less. No that's not worth the $3 saving. Much easier to deal with if it's DOA.

      • Just an option.. that’s why I ordered from Computer Alliance and not Amazon.
Depends whether you got eBay plus or Amazon Prime, need the local warranty or not.. Amazon is kind of good with returns too but anyways Ozbargain is all about good options yea..

  • OP, May I ask what model was your failed drive?

    • 970 Evo plus

      • What the heck could have made a 970 Evo Plus fail?.

        • +1

All silicon chips have a failure rate.

        • Just bad luck. I would have just taken a replacement drive if one was available.
