Yeah, I'd go with the Bunnings 9W over the OP's ones. You get Bunnings return policy and availability, and you pay delivery for both or more easier for Drive and Collect from a local Bunnings.

I recently replaced 52 old style gymbal downlights for the Bunnings ones. Simple installation and a great improvement over the old crap. So far so good.

Can the plug wire be removed to hardwire it?

    • Not a sparky but I would say no

Or course it can but why would you want to? Easier to put a plug base on your cable so you can replace them in future rather than cutting to hard wire

    • Yes very easy. You remove the lead and screw in the one in your roof.Only reason they have plugs is to sell as diy. I suspect most ppl remove it. Needless to say it's illegal but equally illegal to install sockets yourself. I wouldn't install multiple sockets in my ceiling for something that may be replaced every 5yrs or more. It's a 2 min job to rewire

The only question i would have is if these things have a delay. Bought a few over the years that have a half second delay when you turn it on. Bit annoying
