    Sticky Notes

This seems so expensive. Last conference I went to, almost every single technology vendor gave me one. I ended up with so many I had to throw them away…

  • +3

    masking tape- $.0005c per cm

just be careful if you have a macbook because of how flush the screen sits

    • flush the screen

      Sounds like a crap screen…

  • If you're not in a hurry to get one, aliexpress has many, many listings at much cheaper prices: https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=S…

  • has anyone ever had their webcam hacked?

    • +2

i got hacked and me noodies was sent far and wide

      • are u serious or just joking?

    • +1

I wish someone hacked my webcam and watches me picking my nose constantly. 😂

  • Those vinyl self-adhesive book cover from newsagents, Officeworks or Kmart can be used too. You cut to size to suit your personal needs.

  • +1

This is really good product, if you want to look professional, you cant have sticky tape with dirt in your everyday use

    • yeah agreed I bought some for my devices, they look good and don't leave sticky shit on your camera lens - just slide it across when you want to use it

    • +2

Meh, A small cut duct tape(Or any black tape) and you can't tell apart from screen. Look more professional than because you actually need focus on camera to notice it.

The only reason it look bad is because people either can't or be brother to cut a somewhat square piece of tape. I mean any small sticker can also work and just permanent marker it black or white.

      • Its not good if u are a consultant and have a tape in front of a customer. Or a sales person trying to sell something for thousands while insisting on 1$ save on sticky tape 😅 at the end of the day its personal choice mate

        • +1

Its not good if u are a consultant and have a tape in front of a customer

          why?

          • +1

@jv: Yeah what if you are selling tape, then it's the best thing you could have in front of you.

      • +2

You're missing the point. These slide out of the way when you want to use the camera. I've got a free one on my laptop and it works fine. If I used tape I'd have to clean adhesive off the lens each time I wanted to use it and find a new bit of tape to replace the one that now doesn't stick so well.

These ones are stupidly expensive though.

I have work laptop if I need my camera. I legit haven't even used my camera or built in microphone on my personal laptop.

Phone these day are much easier to have video call/phone call when require. I don't think I remember i time when i use my laptop to have voice/video calls to family/friends in past 10 years.

          • @[Deactivated]: Missing the point again. These aren't just for laptops, some use them on mobiles too. Also, is your work laptop immune to the threats that concern people enough to use these?

            • @banana365: Yeah this will work great on hole punch phones these days.

            • +1

@banana365: I guess so, running Debian with whitelisted firewall. Is far more secure than my window based systems.

    • Precisely! Tape is a one time use usually
      This slide on/off is great!
Hardly an expensive product at less than a $1 each delivered

  • Fits the Mac Mini? really?

  • +1

Why not just disable the webcam in device manager?

    • People that know what device manager is and how to use it aren't the intended clientele for this product.

    • +2

There are ways of bypassing that and enabling it independently of the visible OS level controls. I'm sure that for most people the risk of this is almost zero, but not actually zero.

    • +1

easier to slide the cover across then re-enabling in device manager each time for a video call

  • +1

coloured tabs are nice and cheap - usually even free from office supplies at work

  • +3

Can I downvote because no ozbargainer should be buying this when the very spirit of a bargain would be to just find some tape or cut a square peice of black paper out and then tape over it?

    • +1

      Can I downvote

Of course. It is in the list of human rights…

  • The answer to all problems in this world is to buy something … not use common sense

  • How much do these normally retail for anyway? Seems kinda pricey

  • I used them they look better than tacky sticky tape
