  • Is that like.. On special? Is this a deal?

This router was $458 a week ago.

  • +1

    did you mean $478?

    • Thanks, corrected the price.

This seems to be fairly standard pricing looking at Staticice… seems like the deal here basically amounts to free delivery which isn't terribly significant given the asking price.

Was also ~$460 delivered twice in early August.

My RT-AC68U is working fine, waiting for this new Wifi6 version to come down in price $200 before I get a new one :D

    • Cya in 2022.

That's fine! Cant get faster than 100/40 on TPG FTTB Non NBN anyways, and no wifi 6 devices. :D

        • My thinking is the same … 2022 will be fine for this …

          • @mini_wombat: Hardly, RT-AX88U was released in 2018 and it still hasn't come down that much. RT-AC68U is still being sold for $200 and how old is that? Granted it's still being supported and I just got a brand new 2020 manufactured one as replacement from ASUS.

            • @Bigboomboom: I have the RT-AC68U … but I paid around 180$ for it. Years ago. It's a wonderful router. Still going strong.
Ah well. It might not go to $200 but it will be cheaper. I guess $300 in 2022 might be possible as a super special Ozbargain deal. One day.

  • When is wifi 6x or 6ax coming ?

    • This Asus router is wifi 6 802.11ax. The next step is wifi 6e.

    • +1

It's here. Wifi 6E is the gen after this one and hardware will probably be available within 6 months at a guess. Devices tend to take 6 to 12 months after that.

  • Does anyone know if I use this as main router and Aimesh connect to a RT-AC68U or AC86U, does the mesh nodes also has wifi6 signal?

    • Wifi 6 will only be on the RT-AX86U.

      • thanks, that's a bummer….the performance gain may not be that much

        • not if you own wifi 6 devices and have pretty good NBN connection

        • We have an RT-AX88U and two HP laptops, one with WiFi 5 and the other with WiFi 6. The WiFi 6 one definitely has better wireless performance, especially in range but also in link rates.

Bought one last week and connected to the Aussie Broadband 1000/50 connection, using WiFi 6 (AX) with my Note 20, I could get 600-800mbps in the 2nd storey of the house. Definitely a good router if you have WiFi 6 devices.

My 3.5 year old Nighthawk AC1900 is still a working horse!
