    • Nope but I didn't do more than a quick test with the global ROM.

Xiaomi.eu ROM, (which I installed after 168 hours of ownership), doesn't have any problems though.

      • Can you link exactly which ROM you installed?

11.0.2 was the first version available for Joyeuse, and that's what I first installed.

          We're up to 11.0.5 now.

          • @sir_bazz: Any downsides or quirks you’ve found? I’m worried about losing widevine or safetynet but don’t know enough yet - also any major improvements? Really appreciate any help with this :)

            • +1

@maxexcloo: Unfortunately, Google's hardware attestation has already rolled out for the Note 9 Pro, so once you unlock the bootloader, (which is required for xiaomi.eu or any custom ROM), you're device will be flagged as Uncertified by safety net.

There is a workaround but it requires rooting with Magisk…… there's also no guarantee just how long this will continue to work.
But without passing safety net, some banking apps may not work including GPay.

Widevine stays at L1 so no problems there.

              • @sir_bazz: Thanks for the useful info!

Can you say what advantages you see in using the EU ROM? From what I can tell they're pretty similar - any new features, debloat, bug fixes?

                • @maxexcloo: Debloated and no ads, some small fixes like the reported WiFi disconnects. Some small customisations, (more grid options for the launcher), and some apps replaced.

But to be honest I'd normally go straight for Lineage from a cleaner ROM, however to use the dual apps feature, I need to stick with MIUI and their system launcher to make it work.

Ohhh and even with xiaomi.eu ROM, I still removed even more MIUI apps with the debloat tool you can find on GitHub.

              • @sir_bazz: so if I'm reading correctly, if I buy this phone (I see it being oos, hypothetically) and don't mod the rom or unlock bootloader, and use as is, it WILL pass safety net?

I have a Chinese rom redmi note 8 pro but unfortunately it doesn't pass safetynet so no Google Pay and now no 7 11

  • Is there such a brand name mobile with a bigger screen say closer to 8inch or higher? Just wondering as why bother with a small sized tablet when these big screen mobiles are so cheap and im sure faster 👍🤪🤑

  • So by leaving warehouse on the 17th, are they referring to an Australian warehouse or one from, say ,China?

  • Kogan are importing it. It ships from kogans warehouse https://www.kogan.com/au/shipping-guide-international/

  • So deciding if I should go with this or pay $100 less and go for Note 9 on Tobys Deals?

    • It's Helio processor and lower camera. For Note 9. Pro is worth it.

  • Pulled the trigger even tho the 64 gb was the only option

  • IPS is the only issue but amazing value for money!!

  • I bought the 128GB one from Tobydeal 4 days ago and now the tracking status is “in transit to destination”. Finger crossed i will get it by end of next week.

  • I ordered from Toby last week, just delivered today, nice phone, like it. And my cases also arrived today, so lucky.

    • What case did you order?

Being after a back cover and a screen protector.

My Redmi Note 9 Pro from Toby ~3-4 months ago came with a stock case (included in box).

        I bought a Nilkin: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nillkin-Nature-Clear-TPU-Case-Co…

Because there are textured grips on the side and bumpers on all four corners.

A screen protector is attached on the phone by default but im unsure if this is a glass one.

        • Thanks. I may order one as well.

  • Finally arrived in Australia (Dandenong)
