ASRock B450M Steel Legend Motherboard AM4 Ryzen - $128.94 + Dellivery @ Megabuy

91

Found this when looking for a cheap board for a 2nd hand Ryzen 5 I just picked up.
$169 at PCCG for comparison.

Features are better explained on PCCG website (https://www.pccasegear.com/products/46170/asrock-b450m-steel…) but I was interested in:

  • 2x M.2 slots (one x4, one x2/SATA)
  • USB 3.1 Gen 2
  • USB-C port
  • 4x RAM slots
  • Fan/pump/LED headers
  • Heatsinks on the VRMs, apparently good VRMs
  • Fancy-ish audio setup

MSI B450m Pro-VDH for $119 at MSY was a close second for anyone interested.

This company has a terrible reputation for misleading advertising and some of the worst customer service around.

For anyone who doesn't know about megabuy yet, checkout feedback from their customers before you consider placing an order. A couple of links to get you started.

ProductReview feedback (Sudden rush of 5 star reviews recently from one post wonders makes me dubious given their history but make of that what you will)

    80 pages of Whirlpool feedback

If you're after more info on the company, check feedback for the other sites they also run.

    Major issues with this seller.

    • I’ve bought a few items lately with not a single issue.

    • Even so many names/sites alone looks very suspicious, for me it looks like instead of building the brand with a good reputation everyone trusts they are hiding/recycling names with bad reputation.

    • Well I'm a whole lot more apprehensive now! Good looking out though

    • Just reporting back that two separate orders I placed came through today, in frankly record time.
Not to say they don't have big issues as above, but no issues for me this time round.

  • Historical low?

Got one of these about a year ago, great price and a rock solid board!
I went looking for another one of these a couple of months ago and prices were about $250, so this is fantastic.

  • I recently ordered one from AmazonUS via AmazonAU for my Ryzen 3600 build for just over $150 delivered (Currently $148 delivered). It took about a month, but I wasn't in a hurry as I was gathering parts from different sources over time. Going by the tracking about half the time was getting from Sydney to Melbourne. I built the system last night, seems like a great board so far.

    • nice one. hopefully mine comes from Megabuy a little quicker!

did you have any 3rd gen Ryzen issues? and are you using an nvme boot drive by any chance?

No issues, it was Ryzen 3000 ready out of the box. There's a sticker on the front of the box indicating that. So you should be good unless it's quite old stock.

No NVME for me yet. Budget build. Well, it was going to be! I was planning on just the MB/CPU/RAM, which then evolved to include case, fans, CPU cooler too. haha. The only items I'm reusing are the 840 Evo 250GB SSD, EVGA 1060 SC 6GB and Antec TruePower Quattro 850w PSU.
