[NSW] Brother MFC-L2750DW $298 (C&C Only) @ Officeworks Alexandria

122

Given the interest and discussion on Brother MFC devices in my recent post, I wanted to share this "bargain" at near retail ($329) price of the Brother MFC-L2750DW.

There is nearly zero stock anywhere in NSW of this full duplexing scanner/mono (black and white) laser printer from what I could tell when I was looking (and even messaged numerous other sellers), but I happened to stumble into Officeworks in Alexandria NSW and they had just received a lot of MFC-L2750DWs on the shelves. The website has just been updated to reflect they have plenty of stock there but you can't order for delivery and it's C&C only. As per the Officeworks guidance, this item is showing as "Available at this store" for Officeworks Alexandria, and there are some others with limited stock.

Just to emphasise this point again, this price at $298 C&C is nowhere near the bargain prices on OzBargain previously for this device at low $200's but as at August 2020, stock is extremely hard to come by hence my jaw-dropping shock when I saw so many of them in the store on the shelf! That is, I consider it to be a bargain for August 2020 in the current climate vs the sellers on eBay who have price-jacked.

Features:
Fast print speeds of up to 34 pages per minute
Automatic 2-sided (duplex) print, scan and copy
250 sheet paper input
50 sheet Automatic Document Feeder
Built in wired and wireless connectivity
Near-Field Communication (NFC), for mobile print
Up to 3,000 page optional high-yield toner
6.8cm colour touchscreen
256MB memory

Refer to official Brother website for more detail.

EDIT
As pointed out by ln28909, it is listed at $269 at Umart and is in stock in Milton, QLD. Add $21 for delivery to Sydney and at $290, it's cheaper than this deal, or they may be willing to transfer it to NSW for free C&C.

Alternatively, OW may price beat for $255.55. Thanks denandenan21.

For those looking at other sellers (and before you neg this deal), as I noted above, be weary of some of the smaller sellers who claim "In stock" as you'll find out once you order…

umm, it's like cheaper everywhere else

    i.e. Umart $269

    Super Cartridge $259.82

    • +3

I'm literally scratching my head… a week ago when I was dead set on buying one of these, I was Googling and ordering from numerous stores only to find that none had actual stock of this model or it would be from Perth and add $75 delivery charge, etc…

That being said, from Brisbane to Sydney is $21 at UMart so it becomes $290 which is a cheaper deal so I'll edit my post.

Also they can transfer it to NSW for free C&C so you should be able to PB at OW at the $269 price which comes down to $255.55

    • FYI Super Cartridge doesn't actually have stock. They were the ones who told me $75 delivery to Sydney.

      • how long ago was this, cause it's showing to me as in stock and $22 delivery to Sydney metro, and yeah if you can PB with OW than it's even better

          Last Friday.

          Per their email to me:

We do have it in stock but it is in WA. The freight charge will be substantial - probably about $75.00
The website is set to ship from the eastern states. If you order we will call and charge you the extra freight.

    • Ask Officeworks for a pricematch, if you happen to have one nearby with stock. With the delivery added (which they'll insist on) a 5% price beat should come down to ~$275.

  • $274 delivered Aus wide and in stock @ Ecotech

    • +2

Another one which I believe is not actually ready to ship… further emphasised by the warning message at the top of their site:

Attn: Due to Brother's factories being shut down for 5 weeks due to COVID-19, some stock has been affected generally wait times of 2 weeks are expected. We are doing all we can to shorten wait times. If you have an order as soon as your model lands in Australia it's shipped. We are extremely sorry for any inconvenience this may course

This is consistent with what I heard from a few other small sellers when I messaged them about their supposed stock levels.

    This is a great unit!

Agree. I have a Brother MFC-L2720DW and has so far done 42094 pages without missing a beat!

  • Looking for recommendations for a coloured printer that wont break the bank,

    • +1

Found that one too last week - it's a third party seller on the Bunnings site (like Catch marketplace) and not actually available in a Bunnings store. You need to add about $35 for delivery on top of that.

  • I have this model and beware that it does not do duplex printing …

    • +1

Are you sure it's the MFC-L2750DW? There's quite a few Brother models with very similar names, and like most printers, a single letter/number difference can be the difference between full duplex printing vs full duplex scanning vs both. This specific model for this deal is the one which is advertised as offering both duplex scanning and duplex printing > https://www.brother.com.au/en/products/all-printers/printers…

      • Sorry, mine is MFC-L2710DW … cannot edit my original post

    • +2

      Did you install the drivers?

My wife had some issue, until I installed drivers on computer for her. Can automatically print double sided just fine.

I have this family of printers at work, l2710 to l2750, all can duplex no problem.

  • +7

For those with The Good Guys Commercial access you can get the MFC-L2710DW for $184 - used the printer for a single event and smashed through a cartridge in a weekend and can rate it.

    • thanks, bought 1 and click n collect from Alexandria.

  • +2

FYI - this is one of the Brother laser printers that's quite easy to refill with toner, versus buying replacement toner cartridges. Additionally, it only requires a replacement chip to reset the toner counter instead of the annoying disassembly process to reset a physical 'flag gear'.

    • finally in stock, still don't know the difference between those 2 models.

      • +1

Sorry, I'm not sure if you're referring to the printers in the OP or the toner cartridges mentioned in the link to the toner refills I commented on. Which ones are you not sure of? I'll see if I can explain them to you.

        • thanks 4 the reply, it was explained below.

        Brother 2710 & 2750
Quick answer: 2750 will also duplex scan

        Both print, copy, scan, fax.
        google the models for specs
I would pay the extra for duplex scanning if I scanned a lot of double sided pages.
Historically Brother printers have a great reputation.
Was waiting for price closer to $200 for 2750, but maybe a while since covid reduced availability.

        • Cheers mate!

    • I have the MFC-L2703DW and purchased a 2 generic toners ($10ea) and drum ($15) from a ebay and the quality is great. Compared to the original brother toner/drum which still had 70% left, the generic one was darker.

For a $10 replacement toner, I personally wouldn't waste the time with refills.

      • +2

That's fine, too. I've also bought cheap replacement cartridges, but I was always left feeling uncomfortable with the amount of plastic that's left over when they're exhausted. So, I switched to toner refills. I still have plastic left over when the bottle is empty, but it's far less.

Agree this is a "good" printer. I disagree with with this being a deal, as I did a sloppy google search and found many stores selling much lower cost with delivery (e.g. other OzB members has shared above). Use the lower price to PB OW not OW display price.

  • Brother told me that all their models would be back in stock in August.

    I.don't.think.so.

    • Unless they all came in over the weekend, I have serious doubts. That being said the Alexandria OW store suddenly having stock and displayed on shelves was a surprise to me given the number of stores and online sellers I had reached out to over the past week for one of these L2750DWs.

  • CPL have it for $278.

    • Good deal if you're able to click and collect in Melbourne. For Sydneysiders though, it's +$31 delivery (or $26.60 if a commercial address).

      • +2

Yeah definitely one for us Melbournians.

I got this printer about a month ago, pricematched CPL @ Officeworks (think I picked up the last one at the time), been very happy with it.

  • +3

Bought this printer for my folks. No complaints.

    • +1

Same here. Got this when school came home. No complaints - was plenty stock back in March.

  • +3

    Thanks OP!
Got it for $255.55 pricematched against Umart. Cheering!

    • That's awesome, was it OW Alexandria? Still plenty of stock on the shelves?

    • I too am interested in finding out if you got it price matched at OW Alexandria?

    • +1

Ok. I got it for $255.55 pricematched against Umart as well, from the OW Alexandria.

    • +1

I Got it from Alexandria. My ADF scans annoyingly crooked though. Is that a normal occurrence? I think Im going to go do a swap tomorrow.

      • I get that if I dont adjust the slider for A4 setting, for me I just assume its user error and didn't place paper straight. Using the slider makes sure its straight for me

  • +2

I bought one of these a year ago, did a lot of research before picking this. Great unit. Super easy to use, very fast.
