        Your website still says TGA Approved. This is nonsense AND against the TGA advertising code. You should remove that statement. Replace it with your ARTG number if you wish but don't try and mislead consumers with "TGA Approved".

        An ARTG number means nothing other than the product can be sold as a medical device. It is NOT a guarantee of quality and it certainly doesn't mean the TGA endorses or has checked the product for quality.

    ARTG registration means nothing. It just means someone has taken the time to fill in a form. It doesn't mean that it has been tested, or that the TGA approves of the results. It doesn't mean that it's quality is any good or that the TGA approves of it's quality.

    I don't know why people even bother saying they have ARTG registration, except for marketing.

    And registration is not equal to approval.

        NO YOU DON'T, you have to obey the regs and not intentionally mislead consumers.

        Here's a direct quote from the TGA website:

        Promoting a product as "TGA approved", or including other government endorsements, whether it is included in the ARTG or not, is a violation of the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code.

        Can't be any clearer can it?

          Can you quote the extract which leads you to that conclusion please? They claim they will randomly check some - presumably based on community complaints - and remove them from the ARTG "if there is insufficient evidence to demonstrate the safety, performance, or quality of the device." Correlation isn't causation but it appears this may have led to some sponsors voluntarily remove their listing. There's a list of ARTG retirements on the website.

      I have to disagree with friend PCHammond here as I am also a face mask seller not online though. My shop applied for TGA approval as well. I have paid $550 for Class 1, provide all certified, test report documents, send out 50 masks samples per batch for lab testing in 10 days ( strictly no extension from TGA). So, please research and don’t say ARTG registration means nothing. Thanks!

        I suggest you read what the TGA website says thanhthanh. You cannot sell a mask as a medical device unless it is registered with the ARTG. Registration does not automatically authenticate a product - that is the responsibility of the sponsor (you). The ATG does sfa quality control of product test claims and products themselves - they rely on consumer/user complaints and the possibility of legal action against sellers to regulate the market.

        You paid an application fee to enable you to sell the product as a medical device, as per the TGA fee structure: https://www.tga.gov.au/book-page/medical-devices-3

        That said, if you have a quality product with certification and test results then by all means post that info with your product because there are plenty of substandard masks masquerading (pun intended) as something they aren't. Good quality masks and deals for same deserve our support.

            @thanhthanh78: As we've seen on Ozbargain previously Than, unfortunately ARTG registration is no guarantee of quality. In some cases people didn't even get the brand/product they thought they were buying. GL with your business.

          Saying "TGA Approved" is similar to saying you are "RMS Approved" (NSW) or "Vicroads Approved" (Victoria) for having a driving license.

            @djbst: You are right djbst, it should be "TGA registered" rather than "TGA approved". However, to have Victoria registered driving license, you can't simply convert your oversea license without complete and pass VicRoads driving test.Similar to TGA registered face masks.
