  • I ordered on Friday shortly after this was posted. FleaBay still insists it's getting delivered today despite the item not being marked as sent. Express shipping … right.

    So here are my observations.

Shipment will come from Amazon (don't have an issue with that as Amazon also does pick, pack and ship services for many companies).

Box has been opened and US white power cable replaced with black Aussie cable. As the device looks great all white with blue led, I would have much preferred a white cable.
So it is not a retail unit specifically for the AU market. Eg. Sonos has an AU version which is exactly the same as the US version apart from the Sonos power cable.

Little bit surprised about the packaging as the all white device surface easily marks and it has no protection of the surfaces in the box and probably should have had some cloth cover around it like Sonos does it.

Device works fine. Lots to tweak which is nice. Was dropping some wifi but that was just channel config. Happy with the new UI in beta and hoping that more updates will come such as open von etc.

Given that the US rrp price $299 and if I would have bought it over there I would have done the same and replace the US cable.

Overall I'm ok with the situation based on the price. Seller is pro active and responds quickly and probably never seen the actual box or shipment as they are just a reseller and don't touch any units as they sit with amazon.
For a full price purchase this would not have been acceptable. I don't believe it is refurbished , just a sloppy AU market solution but apart from aesthetics it doesn't matter too much.

    • Yeah I agree with what you said.

    • When I asked, they said it was an AU model with local warranty. That doesn't sound like an AU model to me, not to mention the item description specifically says it's an unopened one. Now as you say, this is such a big discount it might not matter a lot but it's disappointing they're not up front about this. I would like to know who is supplying the warranty though, if it's a US model.

      • there is no such thing as AU model
most of the devices are global with some local variations such as power cables.

  • Beta Settings are still super buggy, creating six wifi networks in new design (beta) and then they don't appear in classic mode anymore and it hangs itself up. for now i'll stick to classic menu/options.

  • Just got the package today. Took 3 hours to setup.
Not sure if this is a bug or I'm being hacked, but my Amazon Echo Dot has used 1.4TB.

    • I highly doubt you've got the pipes to support 1.4tb in 3 hours :)
Traffic statistics are notoroiously unreliable on these

    • my smart tv, google home, vodafone box all keep eating mbs all day long…wonder what the network chatter is about.

  • StarTrack Brisbane depot received my package yesterday but it seems as though they can't be arsed to come and deliver it, it's still there. Even Aus post delivers quicker than this so-called express service!

    • If anyone's still reading this and wants a laugh, I still don't have my gear. Star Track sent it to Brisbane, back to Wollongong, back to Brisbane and this evening it's heading back to… you guessed, Wollongong. If anyone says they're using Star Track, run away :(
