      What's this you speak of?

    Unless its local whey, avoid

  • This is my favourite chocolate whey protein. Really creamy with a nice thick consistency.

  • -4

Just consume split green peas! It’s way cheaper

    • +4

You're right it's cheaper per g of protein, but not as easily/practically consumable and you would be consuming 20x the carbs for the same amount of protein.

      • -2

And do smelly protein farts all day and get constipated.

        • Dono about you but whey makes me need to go, not the opposite.

          • @spiff: Try a quality Hemp protien, I find way easier to digest. But doesn't taste as good, gotta add some vanilla and smidge of honey usually.

  • +1

Link goes to chocolate, not vanilla. Thanks Rawm.

Edit - Just found this one for $37.49 - Musashi High Protein Chocolate 2kg
    Also available in Vanillla.

    • It's not essentially all Whey though so you are paying fir some carbs/filler. It's likely better value for money getting the 100% Whey and your carbs from another source. 44 serves per 2kg vs 60.

  • Musashi protein is ok especially for this price.

  • how does this compared to the Gold Standard 100% Whey

  • +1

Good deal for those who may need a convenient purchase otherwise buy from Bulk Nutrients!

    • +2

But why? 2kg of WPI from Bulk Nutrients is $69 compared to this for $40.

      • +1

There's a few reasons but most people would agree that BN has the best value vs quality.

This product is not comparable to WPI and the price you've stated, better compare it to WPC which would still be superior in terms of protein percentage.

From what I could see on the label it looks to be only 67% protein as opposed to WPC from BN which sits closer to 80%.

With BN the more you buy the cheaper it gets per kg hence why I regularly order 5kgs at a time.

        • Fair enough. Though the concentrate is still $9 more and pretty much line ball in terms of protein content (Musashi 74% vs BN ~75% based on the nutrition info). Things of course change if you order in bulk but then again you have to factor in shipping. I still grabbed a couple of these as I only use flavoured protein pre-workout and only one scoop at a time so it lasts a while.

@EBC: Agreed its a good deal for someone who needs it today and I'd mistakenly looked at a different Musashi link with a disappointing 67% protein content.

Ordering the 5kgs from BN works out to be $20 per kg as an everyday price, not taking into account their $7 delivery charge.

BN will also allow you to have a different flavours as they are packaged into individual kg bags.

Vanilla will have the highest % of protein for a flavoured option which comes in closer to 80% but I also like their Salted Caramel, the aftertaste is what appeals to me most.

  • I like the vanilla flavour. I think it's pretty good for the price.
This could be an option for anyone looking to get it fast via Click and Collect but I do recommend checking out Bulk Nutrients as well.

  • I was about to buy this but clicked on the pic to blow up the nutrition info & the protein % is actually 74%.

    That's less than WPC - 80%

    • That label states 33 serves per container which is only 1kg, not 2kg

The Musashi is a 33g scoop for 25g of protein, that one is 24g in a 30g scoop. In a 2kg bag, you will have 6 more servings but 1g less protein per serve.
Given you're likely to just go by the scoops rather than weighing it out to 30/33g, I really doubt you're going to notice any difference between the two.

      • The eBay link is for 2kg, it comes in 2 one kilo bags. Regardless I was looking at the nutrition information which states the amount of protein per 100g.

        • Given that it is unflavoured, that is where the difference will be. If you're going to sweeten/flavour it anyway, the difference is negligible. Couldn't pay me to have unflavored protein powder on it's own, you end up using it in a smoothie or cooking with it. If you're going to consume a protein supplement, may as well make it semi enjoyable.

If you want more than the 74% from Musashi, vanilla will have a slightly higher protein content than chocolate. Chocolate always has a higher sweetener content so the protein is a little lower.

Also given the lack of information, I'd be cautious about the product. Plenty of milk powders being sold as protein powder out there, have a search for the old "No Bull" saga…they also claimed 80% protein and tests put it around 30%. You can send samples off to Bulk Nutrients to test the actual content.

I will say their pre workout is also good value at around $20. Excellent taste and a crap ton of caffeine. Pump factor is ok but could do with a top up of arginine or something

    • What's your go to flavour? I'm about to grab some pre-w.

      • +1

The tropical punch is pretty good

        • My local was out of all but grape. Tastes pretty good!

  • Whats the difference between the Musashi High Protein vs 100% Whey?? They're both half price but because I've never tried them before so was thinking to get the High Protein (1kg) to try first… I've just started weightlifting. Thanks

    • +1

The high protein has some milk powder contributing to it's protein source/content where the 100% Whey is just WPC and WPI.
The high protein also has a higher carb content per 100g. While you seemingly get more protein per serve in the high protein one, it is a 45g scoop vs a 33g scoop so you have more serves per tub with the 100% Whey. If you were to weigh out 45g serves of the 100% Whey, you'd get 33g of protein which is higher than the equivalent High Protein.

The High Protein likely tastes better as it's got more carbs ie sugars/sweeteners but the 100% Whey is the better product IMO. If you're really fussy with taste, get the deluxe one rather than the High Protein IMO

      • thanks for explaining, but which one is better for muscle growth?

        • Protein is protein, your muscles don't really discriminate on the source. As long as you're getting an adequate amount of protein per bodyweight per day, either will do the job. Afterall, they're a supplement so go alongside a decent diet and just top up your protein needs, it's not the only source of protein you're consuming.

The 100% Whey is better value IMO.
