Incoming comments from all the people that paid $1219 for the same laptop 3 days ago.

    • Oh wow! Even that was a really good deal.

I’m a pretty dedicated desktop pc gamer having had a “gaming” laptop about 10 years ago that was not a great experience; but were I in the market for a laptop this is very tempting

    • +14

it was 10 years ago. try again to refresh your disappointment.

      • Haha. No thanks! 😎

        • +2

I've had one for 3 years now and trust me, I still wouldn't recommend it.
          Heating issues ruin the experience

          • +1

@BarginGrabber: I use ThrottleStop to undervolt the CPU on mine and it runs much cooler and at higher fps due to no therm throttling. Would recommend it. Can also use MSI afterburner to undervolt the GPU but can be a little unstable touching that.

            • @Agret: You're a lifesaver, thank for this advice.

My laptop for the past year or so had this issue of just going to like 70+ degrees whilst simply using chrome and word whilst charging.

I cleaned the fans, I replaced the thermal paste, nothing happened.

Undervolting was the first and only thing to work, thanks.

EDIT: wait nvm, temps are still kinda high but better than before

10 years ago, HDD was still the norm. SSD itself is such a huge performance gain.

3 minute boot up times. Never forget.

Yeah it was a 17” big boi with 2 drive bays so that’s where my 60 GB ocz vertex 2 ended up. Helped but still can’t fix an outdated gpu

I think gaming laptops shot up in quality after Nvidia dropped the 'm' moniker and starting using effectively the desktop cards in laptops. They still have issues in regards to heat, noise and longevity but the actual gaming experience on a modern gaming laptop is impressively good especially when compared with gaming laptops of yesteryear.

  • Was gonna pull the trigger on the other deal but this is great!

    • hold it. see if goes down $100 more.

      • But would it?

  • I am wondering has anyone play FPS game using 1650ti laptop? how much fps/s it normally has with all lowest settings?
I am using 2080max-q, fps is about 110/s with all lowest settings in multiplayer mode, if there is no big difference between 2080maxq and 1650ti, may consider getting a 1650ti laptop.

    • My guess is there would be a massive difference in those two GPUs.

EDIT: A quick Google search reveals this is true. Your 2080 Max Q is in a higher class.

      • Thanks mate, I have done a quick research as well. The 1650ti only gets around 70fps in battlefield.

the only thing I am not so sure about is 45Wh battery
but then again what do I know? maybe it's able to deliver better battery life than i5H with 55Wh, I don't know
can anyone here say how is battery life with these H Ryzen 4000?

    • Up to 6.7 hours according to Lenovo's website.

    • 45wh is absolute garbage, that thing will not last more than 2 hours off the wall.

a "decent" range to start for proper mobility and not living a life tethered to a wall would be 80ish Wh at least.

  • Must resist!!!!!

  • If only they offered two years warranty - then use my credit card extra 1 year on top :)

    • What credit card gives extra 1 year?

      • Several ones do - my Altitude Black for example does and price protection (if more than $75 difference…used it previously and was good)

  • Will it be good for 4k video editing?

    • Maybe, but the 4800H or 4900H would be more the go for that.

    • I don't think you want to be doing any video editing on a 250 nits screen

  • hopefully they can restock this, seems like a good deal

Something strange happened, when you posted the deal it said 10 units and more left in stock, then I came back 30 mins later and it ran out of stock but the sale history shows no unit sold after your posted time… . Anyone here grabbed any?

    • +1

Yea. My afterpay got refunded and I missed out. History shows only 3 sold today but the page said 10 units was available. Hopefully it comes back.

      • eBay trick with 10 units still available. I doubt there will be more.

        • Dang it. I was looking for a laptop in the 1k - 1.2k range and this worked out perfectly. back to searching I guess

          • +2

@Alaken: I'm in the same boat, this would have been perfect if I didn't miss out. If I find something I'll let you know, and vice versa pls ;)

            • @MiguelSanchez91: Back in stock but up to $1519 sadly

              • +1

@Alaken: it seems like they only sold 2 laptops for the lower price, if you check the sales history, then they relised it will be popular so they increase the price again, or maybe they worry the people bought it a few days ago would request for cancellation

                • @ozvictor: perfect example of price jacking

                  • @Homr: Yea too bad, otherwise I would buy one

  • Damn just missed out! Crossing fingers it'll come back in stock

  • +2

It shows back in stock but at the original 1,519 - so you can still get this for 1219 like the original post. Pity, I held off too long.

    • Same. Seems like their website is selling same model for $1399 but ebay store has different price.
