  • New versions coming out soon? anyone know?

  • There was a free CS4 trial here the other day, so I'm guessing very, very soon.

    • Those were only CS3 trials - I was the one that posted that 'deal' :)

I don't think CS4 will be out for a while - CS3.3 (a paid upgrade) was just released in around April and CS4 is still in beta. Beta versions just came out on Adobe Labs in May/early June. If you have a CS3 license, you can download them.

    • I've been reading a few reports which suggest that CS4 will be released October 2008 to April 2009, based on the fact that major releases come out every 18 - 24 months. It's all just speculation though.

  • Has anyone tried this? I tried it in the Australian store (on adobe.com) and it says 'Promotion Code not valid in this store'. Is it only for US store?

  • DO NOT, repeat DO NOT give your patronage to the Adobe Australian online store (or Adobe Australia at all for that matter).

Thinking of buying something ? Do this excercise. Go to Adobe.com (USA) Store and find what you want, then chech the prices for the download version. Then go to the AUST store and check the prices for the download version. They are greedy out-of-touch and should not be encouraged. The download version is the SAME stream of 1' and 0's from the same Akamai server, that costs Adobe the same money to sell to you in Aust and Chuck in the USA. Yet we pay a MASSIVE premium here.

My advice (which is what I do when I need to buy Adobe software) is to get it from the USA. You can buy the retail full boxed version via the various "Shop USA" services for MUCH MUCH MUCH less than Adobe Australia Store. And then tell Adobe Australia that you've chosen to excercise your rights with your money and by pass thier ridiculous Australian pricing. And will continue to do so until they wake up to themselves.

And my past experiences were when the AUD$ was in the mid $0.80's, let alon now when it the high $0.90's.

On the plus side though, if you follow my advice it looks like you can save and EXTRA 15% in USA Store now :-)

Adobe… great products… Mafia style business model… (IMO)
