On Optus site, There seem to have free $30 recharge applied when you activate included SIM. Offer ends 27/9/20

It's there in the screenshot of this deal as well.
Technically, phone will cost you $8, if you consider you paid $30 for the 1 month Optus plan.

      Deal's a wow!

      • +1

The $30 starter kit is usually available for $10 (and once a while for $5). So I would say a $28 phone.

        • Yes, agree. Not too bad for $28 either, right?
Btw, what is your first hand review on the Huawei Y5? All good?

          • @djoz: Haven't started to use much yet. Just did the software update. I need to move my data from Y5 2018 to this 2019 version and then try to sell the 2018 one (it's locked to Vodafone).

  • Decent low cost/burner phone if happy to stick to Optus.

Ticket says Optus X Power, so might be a ticket for older model.

    • Yes, it is the current X Power 2

      • OP, did you manage to get one, i.e. the Optus X Power 2 at this price?

  • Whoa! This is nice for those who missed on the Aus Post Huawei Y5 deal.
Locked to Optus though. Can anyone confirm if this is Nationwide?

When locked to Optus, would these phones work with MVNOs like Amaysim / CatchConnect which use Optus?

    • If the the carrier is Optus, then changes are you can …

    • Yep. I'm currently using an Optus prepaid: Optus X Start (aka Alcatel 1), still locked to Optus, as a modem with an Amaysim prepaid sim, no probs.

Actually got a similar deal couple of years ago- (On sale at local Coles for $39, inc. $30 Prepaid credit, plus bonus FlyBuys), because when I went to upgrade my mobile internet to 4G, the X Start was half the price of the dedicated modems, equally pocket-sized but more than twice as useful.

(eg. I use it primarily as my hotspot but it's also there as a backup phone in case my main phone dies/breaks, and to keep as bedside notepad and Audible/podcast player etc).

    • Has anyone actually bought one from Woolworths?

      • Appears to be unobtainable. Has OP confirmed if he bought one?

  • it comes with 9.0 . what OS is it up gradable to? good luck trying to find one. called local store only optus x sart 2 in stock. is there a woolies url we can check for stock levels?

  • Is it possible to unlock it for a reasonable price?

  • +2

The ticket is for X Power, then the price is for X power.
If it stick on the X power 2 box, then you can only force the shop made the mistake to practice the price.
But no way to get it at the price from any other shop

    • I went to my local Woolies. Saw this phone listed for usual price $129, but there was a sticker stuck on it saying: "This item is temporarily not available".

Looks like they've come to know about the mistake. And so have temporarily stopped the sales.

  • If anyone is looking for two of these X Power version 1, contact me for offers, Melbourne Central meet once restrictions are eased

  • I'm guessing its a reasonable phone comparing original price of $129 too others below that range like the Alcatel versions wow 2gb memory 16gb storage room to play so yes it is 👍

  • Is it the (Go edition) Android Pie installed?

  • Cheap unlock available?
