  • Bing Lee are selling a 32" HD LCD TV for $749 with HDMI input but also comes with an integrated HD box and a 3 year warranty. Palsonic make. For $100 more you get a 3 year warranty, HD panel and an integrated set-top box. $649 is too much for this.

  • I think perhaps you are getting confused with the offer from Bing Lee as listed below. 81cm as listed in the bargain posted above is very different to the 48cm tv you are referring to.

Palsonic 48cm Integrated High Definition LCD TV with Built-in DVD Player

    1440x900 pixel resolution
    HDMI input
    Teletext
    5ms response rate
    3 year warranty
    Available in black or white

Also on Bing Lee is a comparable size LG 81 cm Integrated HD LCD TV $1,499 Model No. 32LG60UD

    • Thanratt, I am not talking about the LCD you speak of. I am talking about a $749 Palsonic 32"/81cm TV.

It was a web-special they are still doing while stocks last. For whatever reason, I cannot find the link but let me assure you it is still available in store.

It sounds crazy, but they are truly doing the 32" LCD I speak of for $749, not a penny more or less.

EDIT: Of course, this does not apply to states outside of NSW because Bing Lee don't have stores anywhere apart from ACT/NSW, but I still think better deals can be found!

  • I therefore think I was quite justified in posting this bargain. Please check your facts prior to voting negatively. Thanks.

    • You are justified in posting this bargain and I am not negatively voting haphazardly. I am not negatively voting you either, just the deal and quality of the product. It's noting personal, but I'm telling you there are better deals out there from retail stores.

      • That's fine cyssero, I understand it's not personal, however perhaps you could have posted your bargain to share with the rest of us then I wouldn't have bothered posting mine had I located 'the better deal here.' That is the idea of this site, to inform others of great savings - if it's not here then how are we to know?

I did search the Bing Lee site for your deal but was unable to come up with it either.

        • The ad was on the main page of the Bing Lee website but has been taken out of rotation for whatever reason. They are still doing them and there is still stock there. The model is TFTV81PBHDT and it is usually $1099, down to $749.

I would definitely make a posting to it if I could still find it. Offer valid till stock runs out, last time I was in they had around 150 left.

  • Just another thought. Not everyone has access to a Bing Lee store - at least with oo.com.au you can shop online.

    • Agreed, as we have no Bing Lee in WA. :(

Also, this would work quite well with the first $30 postage for PayPal's free shipping promotion :)

      • And it costs $100.80 to deliver to WA. Ouch.

        • Exactly! I think the courier company oo.com.au uses only hires people with PhD. That's why I always wait for their $100 limit free-shipping offer to get bulky goods. Otherwise, it just ain't worth it.

  • If anyone is impressed by the "Panel made by LG" part, then don't be. There's a lot more to a plasma TV set than its panel. Its like saying your Kmart shoes are made in the same factory as the Giorgio Armani shoes…it doesn't make them the same quality though.

  • Questions:
    1) Why would anyone buy a 32" Plasma TV? (No, I'm not a big-screen snob,, I make do quite nicely with a 'little' 32" CRT wide-screen LG.)
    2) Would you buy a Plasma device by mail-order & have it transported across the country?
Believe me, I'm all for a bargain, but I can't help feeling that for some things you NEED to shop locally so that you have some come-back on the merchant.
I'm currently having problems with much smaller purchases from 2 x on-line merchants (both frequently featured in Ozbargain) who have gone strangely deaf when I attempt to make contact about D.O.A. / non-delivery!!!

    Cheers,

      1. Because they can't afford a 40-50" Plasma TV? There are even 15" LCD TVs on the market so I presume there are people buying all kinds of stuff.

      2. I think the difference is not whether mail order plasma TV or mail order smaller items, but where you order it from. OO.com.au is a bigger distributor and their warehouse is around 10 minute drive from my place (so I usually just pick them up anyway). Smaller shops usually don't have dedicated support staffs handling DOA or delivery related issues. If everything works — great! Otherwise, nightmares :(

      • Hi Scotty.
        1. Yes, there's a market out there all right. Flat panels are sooooo easy to fit in smaller places. I'm just a bit old fashioned & baulk at the $/" factor.
        2. Nightmares - I'm getting there! :(

        Cheers

  • Hello guys

If you are after a smaller LCD/Plasma, I recommend that you look for 2 for 1 deals including a larger 47-52" Set with a smaller 26" bonus, I was after 2 LCD Flat TVs, smaller for bedroom and bigger for lounge… have a look at the LG Scarlet Series deals around or like me, see Clive Peters in store for very good deals on 52" inch LCDs Full HDMI with bonus 26" LCD Flat screen. (We're talking $3499 for 2 TVs!)Some awesome deals out there!

Good luck with your shopping! :)
