It's St George, hate them or love them, you decide. I'm still on my spending requirement for the Citibank deal at the moment so will look into this around Dec for Christmas spending.

You should fix the title as can be misleading.. I believe you need to spend $1500 each month for 3months

"spend $1,500 or more each month for the first 3 months"

Oof, good catch. That changes it quite a bit

Agreed, that takes minimum total spend to $4,500, which, while not excessive for 70k QFF points, is annoying in that you need to make sure you hit the $1,500 for each month, and can't just spend it in one go in month one to secure the points… a big drawback of this offer.

Agreed. Sorry guys, didn't read the T&C closely.

        Updated title & description.

  • So if I hold a WBC credit card I’m eligible ?

    • Should be, yeah

  • Any idea what the minimum income requirement is?

These guys are slow!!!! Still haven't got my points from last offer!!!

    • Some people are reporting that St George can't even see that they are entitled to the points at all.
I need to ring them about it.

  • Personally I don't think this is as good as the deal a couple of months ago https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/543234
Half the fee and lower spent threshold for 10k less

    • Total agreed. I was excited at first when saw the higher bonus points and under impression of only need spending $1500 within 3 months - instead $1500/month minimum for 3 months.

$4.5K for 3 months is quite tough - and must keep track of only need $1.5K/month (to carry the spending in the following month) is quite a hassle.

  • Applied for the last deal at the last minute. Gave them a call they said it would take 10 business days to do the checks. Looks like a lot of people applied for this card as well. An unusually long time. A bit strange as it usually doesn't take that long to get approved.

    • Really? I applied on 30 Sep and got full approval confirmation just over 24 hours later. Are your circumstances complex?

      • Applied through Telesales (by phone). They actually said they would give me first year free + the 60k Qantas Points but not sure if that will turn out to be true. Can play the waiting game if need be. Still have an offer to churn. Maybe doing it by phone is why it is taking so long.

        • Have you had a bill yet with your annual fee waiver?

I got charged $99 when i was expecting $49 but when i looked at the webpage history I couldn't see any reference to a $49 annual fee.

          hmm.

          • @Poolprouk: Yeah completely wiped off… but cant see if I'm enrolled into Qantas or Amplify until my 1st statement. Made it clear that I wanted the Qantas points Offer though.

Think the deal is over as they moved onto the 70k offer + 99 annual fee.

  • Thanks OP. Have had this card before, application was quick and painless, applepay, decent mobile app. altogether a good exp. these points/fees were better than what i got at the time!

Took ANZ 3 months and multiple emails and calls for them to recognise they had "lost" the application. I should hope this would be better…

  • "Existing customers who currently hold an Amplify, Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card issued by St. George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA"
Does this include additional cardholders of an Amplify card? My partner is the primary cardholder and I am the additional cardholder… would I still qualify if I applied for a separate new card?

would I still qualify if I applied for a separate new card?

      Yes

  • Yay, frequent flyer points that I can use to fly where exactly?

Got declined for this. No idea why.

    $85k salary
    no dependants
    $700 expenses a month
    no debts
    $800k home equity.
    Low mortgage repayments

I honestly think they looked at how much I pay for the mortgage each month but those are all overpayments and not the min amount required. Very strange indeed

    • I hate applying for st George cards. They're interested to understand how much credit you are given from owning other financial institutes. I was asked to proof the spending (debts) on each card and reduce credit to a certain limit to meet their requirement.

Even though your actual spending around or close to 700, but they'll use standard living cost in AU depends on where you live as calculation whether you can afford it or not.

      • found out it is because I overpay my mortgage which is my choice. They didnt quite seem to understand that I'm not liable to pay that and it was my choice.

        • Can you tell me why you would choose to over pay rather than hold the amount in an offset account? My understanding is that the money in an offset account would be doing the same thing, but available to be withdrawn if needed, where what you over pay is gone and cannot be taken back out.
