  • Thanks OP, order placed.

    • Yep. These deals bring out the scum of ozbargain

    “Step one”: order
    Step two: order cancelled

  • +1

    They gonna get smashed

    • +5

That's the colour I got. Smashed Avocado 🥑

  • For those still spinning, just add the boxers to the cart and then just use the generic code at checkout. You don't actually have to spin… I learnt that the hard way.

    Thanks OP!

    • Says that the code is invalid

  • Thanks OP, ordered.
Didn’t get much spins, worked in 3 secs. And order confirmed email came through straight away

  • +6

If you use a generic code with a promotion like this you only really have yourself to blame though…

    • +3

Probably need to employ a slightly better web developer.

      • looks like they use Shopify

  • +2

It's going to get cancelled. And then someone will say they're complaining to the ACCC.

    • Thanks for the idea …jk

  • Got mine order the ones with the fly (usually $31.00) and you pay $2 on top may be a better chance of being honoured.

Free amount seems to be $29.00.

  • I paid $2 for mine for getting boxers +FLY, surely now because that went through it would work?

  • Got one cheers.

  • Works for trunks too. Thanks!

  • got one, thanks OP

  • Can't imagine they'll honour this. Haven't ordered.

  • Thanks OP!

    7 Pairs Men's Boxers for $68.8 or 15 Pairs for $78 @ Step One

    Dear OzBargain Community,

I'm Greg, one of the founders of Step One.

So I guess we got caught with our pants down. Pardon the pun.

I woke this morning to quite a 'few' more orders than I normally would on a Tuesday morning! As it's described above, there was a hack in our system that enabled people to purchase our beloved underwear at extremely discounted prices.

We are just a small company, we're not a multi-national so this is going to cost us A LOT of money :( (That's my really sad face)

I don't believe dishonouring this is the right thing to do, so we will if you wish, honour your order, but this is money coming out of our pockets which does make a huge difference to us, we're not a Bonds or a CK where it wouldn’t touch the sides.

So, if you want to retain the order you obviously can, but we urge you to think about the loss we are going to wear with it.

You will shortly receive an email explaining the situation and we will offer you a discount code of 20% if you would kindly agree to cancel your order.

Obviously, it's a flaw which we have fixed, we don't have an IT team so we have learnt a very expensive lesson!

Really sorry about it and hope you understand.

If you could please get in touch with us or reply to your order confirmation with either

    'Cancel my order'
    or
'Keep my order and send discount code'

    ..it would be much appreciated!

    Thanks for your understanding!

    Kind Regards

    Greg

    • Unfortunately I think this time won’t be “a few”

Didn’t pass the follow up exam

I won’t order but hopefully they actually learn this time

  • +1

Thanks- looks like you can do multiple times but felt too guilty to place a second free order

    • -2

And risk having all orders cancelled? Pls dont be greedy.

      • +5

Did you even read his comment

        • -1

Indeed I did. He felt guilty to place second order meaning he was thinking about it.

  • +3

Ive struggled for many years to find good comfortable undies - TBH if their undies are as good as they advertise giving out a free pair would lead to me buying many more pairs.

    • +1

They have a 'first pair guarantee' anyway. If you don't like it, you can request your money back. Just do that.

    • I agree but I think they might have closed the fly on the free undies.

    • I’m the same but unfortunately not everyone is like us my friend 🙄

yikes, this is gonna be a more expensive lesson !

    • +3

      that's so sad

  • +2

No longer works? First it applied, but failed at 'complete order'

  • How does everyone get the coupon to work?

  • They just took down the code I think.

  • "Enter a valid discount code or gift card"

    They caught on.

  • Looks like it's over

"Enter a valid discount code or gift card"

  • Code is dead.

  • Code no longer works

  • Code invalid for me.

  • +1

I just ordred 2 miutes ago, and now its not working

  • Not working for me

  • Gotta be quick. Another site ozbargained!

  • +7

Cancelled mine guys … Its kind of a looting rather than a Bargain …

    • If it a big company I'm all for it.

Kinda feel sorry for these people tho

    • +1

Start a new website - OzLooting

      • hahaha … that would be a big hit … can give a tough time to Ozbargain 😂

    • +1

Good for you mate, too many people taking advantage of small businesses, especially during these tough times.

  • Code dead, intern now enslaved to work for them until costs paid back

  • Looks like I spent too long deciding what colour to do haha damnn

  • If I get these and they fit and are comfortable, I'll come back and buy for sure. I've been looking for a new brand to switch to

  • +4

    Ordered.
    Read comments.
    Requested cancellation.

  • -1

Can someone post a screenshot of their code? Cheers

  • code invalid

  • +4

This is a promo. What if people did spin and get the free undies? U cant expect pple to take a screenshot after order. So they will dishonour all orders including genuine ones. In life sometimes you need to lose money to gain money. I'm sure if pple that tried it and like it will buy and now they just lost the opportunity.

    • They would just cancel all orders submitted after this deal was posted

    • bad publicity is good publicity. How did they not think about such a simple loophole? Wonder if they even had the intention of giving free undies away

  • Always minutes late to the party. :(

  • +7

I've been spinning in incognito for 50 minutes. I AM going to be on their ad

  • +2

My vision is spinning after about 200 tries

  • +5

As someone who legitimately wants to try their product I won't be cancelling my order after their last blunder. If they're comfy and don't ride up then expect an order for more shortly.

    • +2

Another user posted this. But they have a 'first pair guarantee'. If you don't like the undies you can request your money back. Might be a slightly more ethical decision.

    • +3

They are very thin but are relatively comfortable. My only concerns are made in china and whether they will last well.

    • +2

      I agree.

Although unintentional, I think it's good marketing if the product is good. I've never bought from them, but would consider if I like this "free sample". I obviously don't know how much this campaign could cost.

I would, however, cancel my order if they want me to cancel, but I think they should learn with this (and the previous) mistake.

      • As the saying goes… fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me

    New code: TH7DWF9Q8

    • Legend!

    • MVP

    • +1

Okay, now I am bamboozled. Why did they cancel the last code and then activate another? Hmm

      • +2

        Must be airheads with tech

      • Unless the other code was already active and they only deactivated the one everybody else used?

      • Because it was an easy thing for them to do? Probably hoping no one would post the new code.

      • +1

Did you read the comment he made after the last deal? He says they were hacked. It could be the same. I just feel sorry for them. We just destroyed some peoples long weekend

    • Code dead?

      • Yep, looks like they got smart and haven't activated a new one… yet.

  • +4

After reading the comments I would feel bad if I managed to snag a free pair but if they were great undies then I'd buy more.

  • +13

Seriously… How much do these guys spend on TV advertising…

Like… They can't complain they got no money.

    TV is not cheap!

    • +5

And they're Chinese made, there must be plenty of markup but most of it goes back into marketing I guess.

  • +3

I'd only take them free .
Don't you realize how much the advertising budget adds to the cost ?

  • +1

    New code dead

  • 10,000 clicks. I'm sure it will be honoured 🙄

  • +1

    new code disabled

  • That wheel is B/S, just tried 60 times and no freebie. Reminds me of the shenanegan carni games that are unwinnable. Shame, ive wanted to try a pair for me and get some for my son for ages now, would have liked to do a try before we buy (lots) but this kinda puts me off them…

    • You realise that the code for the freebie is lying in plain sight in the post description right? It's a generic code, you could've applied that instead of wasting your time spinning the wheel.

    • +5

I've checked the JS code. The freebie on the wheel is disabled/impossible to get now, same as the "be in an ad" option.

  • Was just charged full price even after applying code. Will be contacting them to cancel.

    • +1

The code was probably removed while you were in the process of checking out.

  • This is why small businesses struggle. Dont abuse this code

    • +10

Use unique codes to begin with.

      • Doesn't entitle anyone to buy 5 and then complain once these are cancelled and claim a 'scam' when it takes a few business days to get a refund
