Apologies, deal starts tomorrow (Mon 5th Oct)

  • Bugger. Just bought some yesterday.

  • Is this good quality???

      It's 5w30 API SN Semi-Synthetic.

      I wouldn't go longer than 10k km on a semi-syn.

I have had good results with this and the full synthetic Nulon in my wifes Hyundai.
Excellent fuel economy and quiet running - valve train was noticeably quieter than whatever was in it beforehand.
Will definitely be buying this as it will be perfect for the warmer weather service. Used Nulon full synthetic over winter. Good results again

Agreed, the full syn Nulon is great.

I'd prefer to spend $35 on the full rather than the semi.

great deal, but i need full synthetic :(

  • I've got an 2008 mazda 3 which had a service a few months ago which included a change of engine oil. However, the engine oil light is showing up already. No visible oil leaks. Is that normal?

Also, Can you just top up engine oil or do i have to empty out the old one and add the new one.

Is it a low oil warning or an oil change indicator? If it’s an oil change light maybe the mechanic didn’t reset the interval. If it’s low oil maybe it wasn’t filled up during the service and has since burnt enough oil to trigger the sensor. You can check your oil level using the dipstick. Bring it back to the mechanic and ask them to top it up.

You can top up the oil yourself, just make sure it’s the same grade, or even better use the same oil as what the mechanic used. I top up my wifes Tiguan with the correct spec oil (504/507) every several thousand kms as it’s known to burn oil.

    • You can always top up; oils are compatible with each other (even mixing syn and dino); It's part of meeting newer API specs.

If it's a low oil light, you should stop driving instantly, use another car or foot, to go and get oil.
Those low oil lights come on about 10psi or lower; and most cars are deigned to run about 60~100psi…. If you have a lubrication failure, your engine is a bin job.

When it comes to topping up between major services, the same oil, or slightly thicker is fine.
I personally use the thicker, because if it's low, that smaller amount of oil will have been stressed and will have sheared thinner; so viscosity boosting is in order.

Mazdas are known for using oil, so just be sure you check it each weekend or so and topup as needed.
They're not broken per se; they're just a much looser oil control ring on the piston than most manufacturers specify.

    • Engine oil light? or just engine light?
as mentioned if it's engine oil light, I'd be highly concerned.

Check oil level. If good, could have engine bearing failure.
