This is not 100% butter is it? Most spreadable butter is blended with Canola oil.

The only one we have found is the Mainland Buttersoft which is available in Woolies.

    • Yes, blended with Canola…definitely not as good as the real deal.

Thanks for the info. That is helpful. I have been trying to find 100% or close spreadable butter. Would def check out Mainland

If you want 100% spreadable butter, buy 100% butter and keep a weeks worth covered in the cupboard instead of the fridge, and store the rest in the fridge until the cupboard stuff needs topping up.
Butter doesn't need to be stored in the fridge in the short term, but it will go rancid after a couple of weeks.

Mainland definitely tastes better but my missus prefers Lurpak because itā€™s a ā€œpremium brandā€ šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Mainland is my preferred as well. You can get the salted one from both Coles and Woollies and the unsalted from Woollies.

  • 1kg seems a lot as a spread, when is the expiry/BB date? Unlike butter, canā€™t use for baking cakes, brownies, etc.

    • Mine had a date of Feb 21 when I bought it last week.

  • This is that Dutch brand, isnā€™t it?

    • No Danish/Denmark.

  • I'm old fashioned, I like butter that is butter. My wife does like Lurpak thou.

If you havenā€™t tried the Mainland I would recommend it. It tastes like real butter.

      • +1

Because it is real butter? Just churned more to soften

        • +2

Yup, cream and salt triple churned to make it spreadable.

  • Does anyone know when this was invented?
