Should I pull the trigger now or will the mobo prices get lower with the release of zen 3?

    • +1

I speculate demand for b450+ boards will go up as the new Zen3 CPU's arrive and demand for b550+ boards will increase as people start getting PCIe 4.0 Gfx and SSDs.

      On Thursday.

      • so for ~$100 difference , this or MSI MAG X570 TOMAHAWK ? TA

        • imho, i would never get MSI MAG X570 because it has active cooling / fan on the motherboard.

          • @jonathonsunshine: just curious but why is that bad?

            • @ntodt: I had one on my mobo and it died. it's imho… "they are loud" because they are so small, they are "whiny"

              • +1

                @jonathonsunshine: Lol.

Compare the Tomahawk chipset fan to other X570 boards, it's much larger. It also doesn't spin at all, unless under really heavy load. Some users say they've never seen it spin.

Have a google around for comparisons of noise levels and etc for your specific choice of board before letting someone who's never owned that board in particular, tell you that there's a problem with it.

  • Hello. I'm planning to build my first PC. And initially, I wanted to go with Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming ATX AM4 Motherboard. What is the difference between this and the B550 boards? Are the B550 boards better than the X570 because they're newer? Will that Z570 support the upcoming Zen 3?

    • X570 will support Zen 3 CPUs

So does 550. I think 570s have more PCIe 4.0 lanes from the chipset, the X570 allows for more 8 USB (3.0) 10 Gbps ports than the B550, meaning that most ports on your PC can make use of faster data transfer speeds when compared to the two on the B550.

    • B550's as better value imo, general use it is more than enough unless you really want multiple pcie 4.0 nvme to go with your pcie 4 gpu :) Here's the comparison chart, i have a x570 iTX (and in that form factor there is barely any point) but i got it cheaper than B550 at the time so if you get a good x570 cheaper go for it otherwise B550 is better value.

This is not B550, this is B550-A.

      Perhaps this video would explain

This is a B550 chipset, not B550A chipset

Apologies, you are correct. I didn't look pass the name of the board. Thanks for the correction!

comes with free doom eternal pc redemption from asus as well

bought one as I have a feeling prices will go up after zen 3 announcement in a few days

    • What about the counteracting forces of Black Friday and Cyber Monday?

      • I think the dark side will be very strong young padewon .. you will need to master the forces of a true jedi warrior to win a 570 or bits for the arrival or the Red forces soon…

      • black friday is end of nov/dec

a long time away, everything would have been released and probably sold out then…

Please be aware that b550-A was just a 450 tweaked to give it a 5 series number..

Not a problem if your happy with specs..

I think you are talking about B550A chipset which only supports PCIe Gen 3. Rog strict B550-A is B550 chipset
      Refer to the spec here:https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-B550-A-GAMING/specifications/

Rog strix names the new white and silver color scheme board XXX-A, like Z490-A

The B550-A Strix is simply a white-coloured B550-F Strix without the RGB logo.
