    School janitor ok?

  • +4

Wow really some of you don’t disappoint with the comments.

    Tall poppy syndrome indeed.

    Salty as.

My theory is if anyone wants to do anything with teaching cancel the course .
Not counting direct Covid impact the mountain of unemployed staff provided by all the International Students gone will takes years to dissipate .
With not many vacancies competing against these guys is not a winning battle . Many positions will be filled by staff way over qualified .

    • Anything regarding education? How does this effect pre-school, primary, secondary?

Tertiary i have many friends taking up a new course to re-skill in order to find employment. International students will not stay away forever, the economy can't afford it.

      • -1

At extremes Professors ( of course most are well reference Teacher's ) can't compete with checkout chicks as lower age wins that battle . Best attack is anything in education for these guys starting at Teacher Aids vs being shelve stackers ( again if they can't beat the juniors ) Hence instead of the average 12 per job its more than double for most education jobs at the application . I'm saying the next few years it will be like that in this field . Any in the field competing ( students just finishing their course ) against these way over qualified candidates are going to fail .

I teach discounts, and freebies and how to be a tight ass, do I qualify for free tickets.

    It's stil teaching.

  • -7

Health workers, supermarket workers, bank staff, police and military, yes any of the other essential workers deserve recognition but teachers??
A teacher at my sons school told a student to stop bothering them on Teams because they were home schooling and didn't have time for this child. Dont get me wrong many teachers have been brilliant but many others have been treating this time as an extended holiday. The only positive here is that because parents have more visibility of the effort afforded to our kids, they are now familiar with which teachers are not up to standard.

  • is the catch the $3k charge on returning to australia for 2 week hotel quarantine? I'm sceptical this travel requirement will be lifted until national/global immunity, unless we can forge lots of travel bubbles.

  • And the moral of the deal is :” Now I remember I will fly with Qatar next time I want to fly … thank you Qatar “‘

  • Anyone get today's allocation?

    • +1

Yep; had the form filled out, as soon as it ticked over 12, clicked submit (do the captcha at about 11:59:40 - do it too early and you'll need to redo the captcha, in possibly at an inopportune moment)

      • Oh I tried that. Didn’t work. I’ll try again tomorrow

      • Very lucky! I had it all cued up, submitted at 12 on the dot and nothing. My partner did the same. Todays allocation already exhausted. Congrats!

  • Any Qatar heroes today?

  • +8

This is (profanity) bullshit, I literally submitted my form at 9:00:03 and the allocation was exhausted. Neg worthy due to insufficient quantity

    • +1

Screw this, I didn't want to spend the time doing it but I'm creating a bot for tomorrow.

      • Fortunately the capcha isnt used:)

  • +4

    Yep got it today!

    • +2

Had it filled in at 11:59 and kept hitting submit from 12 onwards. Got cleared on about the 5th time.

  • +5

I got 'Thank you for submitting your details. We will send you an email within 48 hours once your request has been processed.' Does that mean I got through?

    • +1

      Looks like it! Nice work

  • No go for me today :(

  • +1

No dice, when you hit it it just sits there. Don't know if I screwed it up by hitting submit twice. CheaperChooser, did you prefill the form before 12? or load a fresh one?

    • +2

Pre-filled. It allowed me to hit submit several times. Kept giving me the allocation exhausted message and then after about 5 I got the blue submitted one.

      • +1

did you stay on the same page? I was alternating tabs and it never changed to blue for any of them. Just wondering for tomorrow's try. What was your strategy? pre-filled at 11:59 and you clicked submit when sorry? thank you!

        • +3

Stayed on the same page. Pre-filled. Clicked submit, then after getting the red message saying allocation exhausted, I just unticked and reticked the terms and conditions box. (I think this made the submit button active again, but it may have been unnecessary). Continued this process from 12 on the dot and succeeded after about 5 attempts.

  • submitted on the dot and too late

  • +1

No luck today. All gone within 10 seconds. Would really just be happy with just the 50% code if it meant there was greater access.

    • Try 3 seconds

      • +1

Worst part is that I lost the rhythm of my marking to do this.

        • Lose-Lose situation >:(

  • +1

    submitted on the dot…no go

  • +2

The submit button is disabled for me even after the captcha :/

    • +1

You got terms and conditions box ticked?

  • +2

Mum's a teacher, no luck yesterday but today we got "Thank you for submitting your details. We will send you an email within 48 hours once your request has been processed."

    • Quick update: Mum received an email today confirming her free flight with a promo code in the email. :) She is so stoked, has been calling people all day to tell them!

  • +2

A bit cruel to have the promotion start in the middle of a teaching day.

I understand the concept of time zones, but I am having a woe is me moment haha

Had the darn thing pre-filled, clicked submit the moment the clocked rolled over. No dice.

  • +3

I constantly kept submitting from 11:59 for a couple minutes and no go…

  • +1

Got the blue button today. I had 1 phone, 1 desktop clicking from 11.58am onwards and after about 5 attempts on each device, got the blue button on the phone, and the "you already submitted your details" on the desktop.

  • Pressed it right on 12.00.00 and Firefox panicked, kept hitting the submit button but 'allocation exhausted.' Hoping for tomorrow!

  • -8

Successfully got 2 for my wife yesterday (submitted wrong details yesterday hence i retried today and got it).

Tip: Click the submit button exactly on 11:59:58-59 and I’m sure you’ll get it :)

    • +5

Not sure why you needed to take another when someone else could have benefited from it? I'm sure the details could have been fixed by contacting the airline.

  • No luck. Let's see tomorrow.

  • If we have to wait 48 hours to have it confirmed, is everyone who got through still trying on subsequent days or just waiting? Bit nervous without the full confirmation but I was lucky to get the blue message today!

  • +1

Is it just me or are they asking for a fair amount of PI data that is stored in a non EU/AU location?

  • has anyone received the email with the promo code??

  • No email yet

    • ditto

  • F5 Ready. Let's see today :D

  • -5

I GOT ONE. MY BOT WORKED YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

    • I missed out :(
      What bot did you use?

      • Made my own bot to submit a request.

The first response looked like this

        {"transactionInfo":{"transactionId":"REDACTED"},"captchaRequired":false,"status":true}

And then the second response looked like this which means the details were already in the system due to the failure caused by the duplicate email

        {"transactionInfo":{"transactionId":"REDACTED"},"captchaRequired":false,"status":false,"statusCode":"DUP_EMAIL"}

      • +1

You can code your own pretty quick- they dont actually respect the capcha.

        • Yep, I noticed that when I captured my session yesterday and saw this hahaha

          "captchaRequired":false

          • @[Deactivated]: It seems like all the capcha does is enable the button on the webpage

            • @tororm: You can enable it by messing with the css too. Change something to auto and then another value to 1. Can't remember exactly as it wasn't worth exploring.

    • Mine too!

    • +2

Hey props for being resourceful and making things happen for yourself. I gave you a + and don't think you deserve the negs. It's not as if you made 5 different entries.

      • Thanks. It's literally no different to if I smashed the submit button and got one. This way was just guaranteed because the request was sent directly to the server rather than through the website. If you ever need help to secure something with a bot, let me know. Happy to help for free :)

  • Got the blue one. Email in 48hours.

  • OMG how did you guys do this????

  • +1

Missed out, look it's not the end of the world as the missus is pregnant, so not sure when we'd be able to take advangage of it anyway! I tried from 11:59:58 and got the red message at 12:00:00 haha.

  • I think I got one! Says details already submitted. Submitted at 12:00:01.

  • Nothing, what a shame, mum has been working for 30 + years and would've been a good retirement surprise.

  • Nice dice. Oh well!

All three days were pre filled and clicked right on 12 pm. Congrats to all that got a ticket! Enjoy the well deserved holiday!

  • +1

Missed it! The submit seemed to take so long that the CAPTCHA expired…

    • yeah same thing happened here too.

  • Blue box today! Hopefully comes through.

  • +1

YAS! 3rd time was the charm. Thanks for the heads up, I can’t wait to get these itchy feet out on the road again!

  • No luck today either was ready with two computers at bang on 12…

  • +1

Got one for my wife! Third day trying and go there at last. Thanks OP!

  • +2

No go again. I even tried another country because I'm a dual national and it's very early morning there. Oh well.

    • yeah I realised that aswell and claimed for a different country…you can argue it was a mistake and surely they'll give you the ticket…worst case scenario you;ve got code for 50% ;)

  • +1

I had like 4 tabs ready..all showed limit reached…now i tried again and I get message, "You have submitted your details already"…does that mean i got it?

    • +2

      Yes (99% sure)

      • +2

        see you in qatar! ;)

        • +2

Don't forget to bring your papers to mark! :p

    • Did you get the blue confirmation message? I submitted the form 4 seconds before midday and that seems to have been what did the trick.

      • +1

        no i didnt…we'll see after 48hours!

  • I got the "you submitted your details already?"

    Wtf does that mean??

    • +4

Means (I think) you were successful and you'll get an email within 48 hours

    • +1

same here, word is that it's a good sign (system captured our details), but won't get my hopes up for next 48hours

    • +1

I assume you were mashing the submit button multiple times? It most likely means one of you requests went through and then another request that would've gone through was declined because your information (it checks against email address) was already found in the database.

    • You might have been successful! Seems more people got lucky today, or perhaps it’s just that us OzB fans knew about it and most are still on school holidays, so able to take advantage.
I can tell from your username that you’re definitely a teacher!

    • Good sign! Means that when you hit submit, the confirmation page didn't load, and after hitting submit again, it confirms you've already made a successful entry.

Same experience for when I registered for the Healthcare workers offer.

      Congrats!

  • Whilst I congratulate all those deserving teachers who got one (including myself)…..let's be real, is convenient international travel to and from Australia in 2021 really going to be a thing? I'm not getting my hopes up.

    • Regardless if it will be a thing, Qatar will honour it even if we have to wait till 2022 to travel.

      • Yes I've got no doubt they'll honour it and extend if required but sooner or later they will force you to book something in and my key word was convenient - you might be forced to use it whilst Corona is still rampant and an expensive hotel quarantine on arrival/return is compulsory. Fingers crossed but I don't really have expectations of this going away internationally in a hurry.

        • Big if. I highly doubt Qatar will force you to fly knowingly you’ll be out of pocket of $3k when you return.

  • Imagine those that got the message of "You have submitted your details already" and simply used multiple different details how many you could have got ?
I think 2021 there will be travel bubbles and just of a matter of this airline flying the route .

    • +2

Some might not even use the promo code given. Hopefully everyone actually takes this offer up, if I do end up getting a code and cant travel for extra ordinary reasons, i will give it away to someone who missed out here.

      • +1

Agreed, I tried all three days to get tickets for my mum who has been teaching for 25yrs, certainly hope she didn’t miss out as a result of someone trying to play the system :(

  • +1

Tried everyday, absolutely crushed I couldn't get this! :(

  • +1

Has anyone got an email from the previous days?

    • +2

      Nothing yet.

    • +1

      Nope

    • +1

I had the 48 hr thing pop up on Monday and haven't heard anything yet. Been checking my emails so many times over the last couple days haha

  • For those who have had a look at flights and restrictions, how do you plan on using the promo code?

    • Hey, have you received the email with further info, I got the blue 48h mark 2 days ago but nothing yet

      • +1

No nothing yet either and mine was 2 days ago too
