dont do it. network isnt the same, volte not enabled and the customer support is non-existent at the moment due to c19. I would wait.

I've spoken to numerous people on Boost who've said that wifi calling (VOLTE) is enabled.

I was with them a few years ago and can confirm the network is the same as Telstra's. I'm with nuMobile ATM and can confirm it's not the same as Boost/Telstra.

wifi calling is vowifi (Voice Over WiFi) whereas calling using data is volte (Voice over Long-Term Evolution)

I'm currently with boost and I have vowiifi enabled and I can confirm it works. I have the option for volte as well, however, I don't have it enabled because I have terrible LTE reception and have never used it.

Data point: Can confirm from a recent sign-up (on the $150 plan) that VoLTE and WiFi Calling (voice o wifi) all working fine as is RCS on a Samsung S10. The port to Boost was painful though (took a week). Since then all working fine and dandy. Also have an S20 5G phone on 'genuine' Telstra plan. If I force it off 5G, then the coverage we get from Boost vs Telstra is identical in Sydney CBD through to regional NSW towns. Both phones are generic from Samsung and not purchased through a carrier. YMMV.

    • wife has had problems since joining boost from Telstra, calls wont connect the first time, had issues using data. level of support and availability is not the same as telstra - never had any issues with telstra.

that said, its a quarter of the price we where paying - so would switch over again, just something to be aware of.

i also spend hours (literally hours) on the phone porting from telstra.

I have been on the $150 plan as well for the last 10 months.
Calls don't connect on first attempt for last two months and no customer service available.

Reset phone, clean & reinsert SIM, tried only 3g but still the same.
Boost are cheap, but think I will look at another Telstra MVNO when the plan ends next month.

Anyone else have the same issue?

        • interesting, so more likely to be a carrier issue.

      • I went through the same headache, porting from telstra post paid to boost is an utter nightmare. They eventually converted my account to telstra prepaid then over to boost to get it to work, seemed no one had any idea how to do it (and yet it must be very common for people finishing a handset plan and wanting to stay on Telstra, maybe it's horrible by design).

But since then, has been mostly fine. Just wish I could roll over all the unused data thanks to covid.

    • I concur. Virtually impossible to get any customer service. No live chat, no one picking up the phone call. Pray you don't have any issues

      • I used to be on Telstra prepaid. I switched over last August 2019 to Boost $150 (12 month plan) using their special sim card to be delivered to home. Got on the phone for them to switched over and I told them over and over again to stop Telstra auto recharge after porting. Guess what Telstra kept charging me for a few months after port. Now I want to set up auto recharge on Boost App and app kept asking me to try again later. I have been trying since August 2020 without any success. It is not my credit card because I have successfully used it to set up auto recharge for my parents and inlaws using the same credit card. They just danced around the problem but never really solved it.

        • App is a bit glitchy , have you tried calling customer service to help set up auto top-up? There is a long wait time though so be prepared.

      • interestingly it uses the same chat agent as telstra. if you have both pages up at the same time, they link to the same chat (like how when you open up a second window on boost.)

    I'm on Boost, it's fantastic. It's 4G, but it hits 300mbps

I've also used about 5 Gig since May due to lockdown.

The product history seems to show this frequently dropping to around $240

Anyone know if this is likely to continue?

guess I would keep hopping from $4.90/14.90 Kogan and other discounted prepaid sim packs for a while, no need to spend hundreds or even over a thousand for mobile these days

eBay sellers still selling in the $240-$250 range, here $246 or best offer, also $5 off with your $5 monthly eBay plus voucher

any good deals for recharging an existing account? Thanks

or just price match at Officeworks for 257 if they have not updated their price

      • No stock at any Officeworks store that is remotely near me. Can you price match for a delivery order?

        • yes you can, and since the price is so high, you get free delivery, that's how i did it months ago :)

    • I love their other boost listing

      • 85gb $200 for $184.95, not bad

      • 80gb $150 for $169.95, lol

      shit on it

  • Anyone having issues ordering a sim? I get the following message when I try to order. Tried multiple computers/browsers all the same.

    SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG
We're sorry but experiencing technical issues. Please try again later.

And of course as they're part of Telstra you can't actually speak to them. I rang and they gave me a link to contact them by messenger. Which isn't running at the moment.

    • get it from Officeworks and pricematch it to get further 5% discount

does this data rollover after the next recharge? Can't seem to find it in their fine print.

  • Do you need to port in and out of boost to use this prepaid if you're an existing Boost customer?

    • Yes

    • This may be available as a recharge option. Click Recharge and see what you can find there

    • If you port out you will loose $150 80gb plan

  • The issue of Call Drops with those not having VoLTE enabled phones is being discussed here:

  • If porting over using the website doesn't work instantly then you will need to contact customer service directly to have them do it for you. I tried porting online and after waiting almost two days I called customer service to do it for me and the rep said they are limited with staff now due to COVID.
Be prepared to wait 1-2hrs on hold.

  • Let me guess, new customers only?

    • Yep. I put forward the motion that we have no more Boost "new SIM/port in" deals on OzB until we get some more recharge deals. You'd think OzB Boost users never actually recharge their plans.

Porting out and in has the potential to be a pain, especially during the COVID era.

    • Old deals are much better, $150 for a year with unlimited calls/texts and 80GB

  • Not sure why I got downvoted.
Customer service at boost is in lockdown, no telephone support just very average chat over the web.
    The website goes down
The calls don't connect you need to try multiple times
Volte is enabled by default and even when they say they did enable it it still doesn't work
I have both Telstra and boost in a dual Sim as I couldn't stand boost any longer and in the exact same location I tested both, CBD Sydney, right next to the Apple store.
    50/20 boost
    160/100 Telstra
It's a Huawei mate pro 20 so no 5g. Just boost is clearly a lower tier Telstra.
Like amaysim is a lower tier Optus.
Boost was good when I last had it but something has changed and it isn't as good
