If you don't want to fight with your beach shades/shelters, these instant-up shelters are the go.

Similar in concept to the Coleman instant-up tents (and similar).

    I'd probably need some links but they likely don't have the folding mechanism which is the secret sauce that makes these super easy to erect and take down.

    I have one of those ebay ones. It's pretty good but you need to practice packing it so you don't look like an idiot standing on the beach while your wife and kids are waiting in the car rolling their eyes at you. The instructions are in Chinglish.

    I also feel a good beach tent must have mesh parts to allow wind to blow through the tent and not blow the tent over.

      I've been there. And I'm not going back there :) That's why these are at least 5x better.

      Also there are ones that do have the mesh, or have more cutouts. I prefer this for more privacy.

    These are the spring steel type that you need to fold into 4 dimensional space to pack up.

          @iwearpants: Nope not even close as that is basically a children's one. The one I have is virtually the same as the one pictured in the deal & much larger than your link. It's served me well. Obliviously Aldi deals are usually only once a year but tend to be of pretty good value.

              @iwearpants: It might be that one but I can say with absolute certainly that it has a central collapsible folding mechanism. It likewise came with carry bag, pegs and built-in sandbags. In any case the Aldi one you have linked is far larger for $39.99 at 240x255x140mm as oppposed to the Kogan which is only 213x133x120mm.

  I bought this like 3-4 years ago on Kogan and it was also $49. The quality is decent for the price.

  Don't think it's worth $79.99 though.
