Fridges aren't cheap this year due to lack of stock and supply chain issues but this isn't a bad deal for a large french door with ice and water dispenser. It's $523 lower than cheapest available on the market. My local GG store matched the ebay store price. The delivery offered by the store was $74 including disconnecting and removal of the older fridge and connecting the new one.
Fridge dimension:
Height (mm) 1793 mm
Width (mm) 915 mm
Depth (mm) 744 mm

Capacity:
Total Volume 706 L
Fridge Volume 391 L
Freezer Volume 302 L

  • Aww man where was this fridge a year ago.
My Samsung looks cheap and tacky by comparison

Had to replace a black Hisense one that had a great profile but they stopped selling it (guessing cause it failed)

    Nice one OP

  • damn, nice price, I got same price for the SS one last week from JB.

5% off GC made it even better.

LG make much better fridges than Samsung. I would never buy a Samsung fridge after hearing the reviews on them. Have one at work too, the ice mechanism freezes up every 2 months, we've given up defrosting it and have just stopped using it.

My previous fridge was a Samsung that I bought in 2012, it was a great fridge and I never had any issues with it, I believe it's still going strong. Not sure what they're like now though.

I find LG products to be somewhat hit and miss, always liked their displays but our current LG microwave has what I can only assume is a cold solder joint in the display as it sometimes looses part of the last digit until I tap it. Likewise I'll never touch a disc drive made by them again, in a time period of 7 years I had 4 die just out of warranty.
That being said, next fridge I buy will probably be LG.

    • I owned a new LG Silver fridge ~5 years ago, wouldn't keep milk for more than 2 days - got serviced twice and was too hard to get a replacement product ("all the cold air rushes out of the fridge, thats why its not cold after you've opened the door was the techs offical response"

Washing machines, LG is great, TV not so great, Fridge - I've been burned - but glad to see they have gotten better

I own a Samsung Fridge at home. It's this one https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-696l-side-by-side-ref…

We had it over 2 years and everything is breaking. I don't know about the brand but I will never buy a two door or one door fridge with Plastic covers on top. They are so easy to break if something falls on them or if you use it too much to open close etc. It's hard to avoid falling over things sometimes but better to buy a good quality, hard cover ones. Also it does not have any handles on the sides to open and we find it so hard to open if we have oily hands or if we are in a rush to open the fridge while cooking..sometimes it take more than 2 attempt to open the fridge..I do not recommend this kind fridge for elderly or homes with small kids. The one on this had doesn't have any handles too so be aware of this issue.

Second that, our Samsung fridge sucks. The noises it makes is like someones stomach that hasnt eaten in a week.

    • I have a Samsung that was desperately needing defrosting every ~2months.

I found an American company was selling a kit to fix the problem for a similar age/model fridge over there. Can't fully remember the details because it was years ago but the kit had a new sensor and a bracket to position the sensor in a different position, plus instructions to modify some software settings that was done via the front user panel by some key combination to enter a configuration mode.

The kit was a rip off and so was shipping so I thought I'd just try copying what they were doing using the original sensor with cable ties to get it close to where they were putting their replacement sensor. That was about 5yrs ago and the fridge hasn't needed manually defrosting since. I was pretty much entirely clueless as to what I was doing and Samsung had no official fix so pretty amusing.

I had a Samsung fridge. It was just over 3.5 years old and I had to have the repairer out 7 times (5 of which were to do with the ice maker not working properly). On the 7th repair I ended up asking Samsung for a refund, they tried to fob me off and repair it again but when I mentioned the ACCC and that 7 repairs in 3.5 years wasn't reasonable they agreed to a full refund.

      • We've had a Samsung fridge now for 10 years and it's still going strong. We're just about to replace it because the family has outgrown it but we've never had need to service it. Guess it really just depends on the one you get.

  • What’s the noise the compressor makes… preferably in dBA?

  • Don’t need the ice and water dispenser, any recommendation on another Cheaper LG fridge?

    • The one without doesnt work out cheaper at this price. Its $2999 - https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lg-730l-french-door-refrigera…

I am still looking at it though as it has an extra 27L (fridge space is more important to me then water and ice.) And is a 3 star. Not really sure .5 of a star matters but it all adds up i guess. Oh and this one doesnt allow me to control my fridge remotely. Seriously though who needs to do that sort of thing, just clogging up your home network for no reason…

      • That one is available on their ebay store, you can get $450 off using the code

        • Good pickup, you are right! now i am tempted to pull the trigger. I do prefer the matte black look though and now trying to work out whether i need a water/ice dispenser. The hassle of having it plumbed in where my fridge sits sounds like a major extra cost.

  • 2.5 star. Lol

  • I was visiting Vietnam last year, and saw Samsung fridges at least 40% less price (as normal price) at retail outlets to what they are here.
The margins must be quite large in Australia - If only we could order direct

Dont forget Sales Tax and then Warranties and Consumer Protections available in AUS. All cost $$ and increase the Price at the shop

    • Some Samsung products are now made in Vietnam, maybe this is the reason for a lower price there.

  • Worth checking in store, as I picked up the door in door version a few months ago for similar price at Harveys as floor stock.
The ThinApp only allows you to change temp of the freezer and fridge, doesnt alert in the app when door is left open like its supposed to

  • Would be nice if they have Stainless Steel available on Ebay too

  • I got the 665BSL model a couple of years ago - very similar except has 'door-in-door' feature, which is really neat. I've been very happy with the fridge - the water & ice dispensers work really well, as does the fridge in general. The design & interior layout are excellent. And the fridge is reasonably quiet. Overall, I'd have to say my experience has been very positive. But I got mine for much less, around $2,400 delivered, installed and the old one removed via appliances online.

  • Thanks OP! I got one of these instead to fit my slightly smaller cavity: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-LG-GF-B590PL-594L-French-Doo…

  • I just pulled the trigger on the 570L Door-In-Door version, glad to see so many positive comments. Ended up getting it from JB Hi-Fi for the same price as the eBay offer (didn't expect them to play ball as it was a coupon deal) through their sales line as my card wouldn't process through eBay or PayPal.

Just letting potential buyers know, I called up TGG Hectorville (SA) and asked if they could sell it to me at the same price as the expired deal. No problem at all. Getting delivered tomorrow.

    • Called up TGG in Vic and best they could do for the SS version was $3190. This is why I hate buying appliances. Just give me the best price, I don't want to play these games lol. The SS is cheaper baseline price than this one too.

  • Hi guys, can anyone share a receipt for their fridge? Thanks
