  • Are SSDs good for long term archival storage like to put in a safe or something? Probably be plugged in, checked and updated every 12 months or so?

    • they are better marginally (u can drop these and they will most likely be fine) but far more expensive per GB as storage units.

It’s not comparable with the MX500 performance-wise is it?

    • That's right, there are very significant performance differences between the two.

      • I only ask since this is the second listing I’ve noticed today that has made such a clumsy comparison…I know they’re not comparable (but I’m sure the link will be useful to those who don’t so thanks)!

It’s not a “price beat” is it?!
Since the products aren’t like for like.

  • what would you recommend to put inside a PS3 ? to replace my aging WD HDD

    • Personally, I wouldn't recommend purchasing an ssd for your ps3 because the ps3 will be limited by it's older SATA interface. In other words, you'll only experience a small fraction of the ssd's full speed compared to a hdd.

I'd only really do it if you can find one for an exceptionally cheap price or if the price difference between a hdd and ssd is small for you — Otherwise, i'd just get a hdd.

      • I don't know PS3 but SATA SSD still a lot faster than HDD

        • I'm pretty sure the PS3 uses first gen SATA controllers, limiting the speed significantly. I don't think an SSD would be much faster in this use case.

  • this one seems equal to wd green and sandisk's Ultra 3D is WD blue
