  • I'm guessing no smart apps for that low a price?

    • +9

Turn the Linsar TV into a smart TV by connecting Google Chromecast (sold separately) for Android, or Apple TV (sold separately) for iOS to stream your subscription entertainment services straight to the TV screen from your compatible Android or iOS smartphone or tablet.

And thank god for that. TVs at this price point have shocking smart capabilities.

      • huh?

that means no the TV itself is not running any smart programs?
if u need it to be "smart" u need to by a set-top box?

        • +1

If you want apps like Netflix, YouTube etc then yes, you need to buy a dedicated box like a Mi Box, Voda TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Firestick…

This TV is just a TV that gets it's signal from an aerial and beams to you "quality" shows on Freeview.

          • @SnowDragon: Freeview has massively picked up its game in the last 12 months.

I used to totally agree with everyone; but I rarely come away from channel surfing without at least 1 show im willing to watch, often 2.

Having dedicated movie channels on sbs helps too.

      • So too do some TVs at the other end of the price point!!!

Stock seems to be very limited - I just checked a bunch of stores and couldn't find one within 200km of me.

You may be lucky, but it seems this is just a run-out price for the last 10 they have scattered around the country.

Only available in store, none in Canberra or nearest NSW regional areas.

TV is ok for causal watching.

    • Do you reckon it will be a good TV paired to a PS5? I am considering upgrading the old samsung 55" 1080p TV with a 4K TV since the PS5 is coming out and I will be getting it

      • No. Asking too much from this budget TV

        • Noob question - why wouldn't it be alright for PS5? I realise no HDR, but apart from that? What would you be looking for when in search for a PS5-suitable TV?

          • @bouncybear: It can handle 4K at 60fps with my chromecast ultra. The motion smoothing isnt great. I feel its better if i set the chromecast to 4K at 50fps.

            • @nanite: I always switch off motion smoothing on every single TV, as films and TV look unnatural to me in "hi fps".

I wouldn't expect great colours and viewing angles, yet I'm not sure what would be wrong playing games on it. Poor darks?

              • +1

@bouncybear: Agree bouncybear, I also disable any gimmickry by the tv considering their processors.

It has a bit of backlight bleed at the edges. You only notice it if you go looking for it. I only found those out watching a space movie in a darkened room, 5 months after the purchase.

As mentioned, its great for casual viewing and definitely a good second TV. I use it as my primary because I'm not too fussed, and going from a HD to 4K is still a big upgrade for me.

      • I've used the Linsar 75" inch for gaming for a good while and PERSONALLY, I think the colors pop like crazy, really vibrant. But more than anything, the refresh rate is super noticeable, like that TV is (profanity) smooth as shit. The remasters of Uncharted 1-3, the last thing I played on it, were probably the smoothest looking frame rate I've ever had from any game.

They're not the exact same thing so I can't reeeeeally comment, bc that one is a "smart" TV and this isn't AFAIK (though smart really means it has Netflix and YouTube, it's still very dumb otherwise), so they might not even be the same anyway, but I really thought it was a good little tele for the price.

      • Theres only a few TV's and only 1 TV I know that is good for the PS5, and you need a HDMI 2.1 port. Its a sony model

        • Wait; need hdmi2.1?!

Wow, for a while i was expecting the playstation to do quite well, but if 90% of the population also needs a new TV? Thats going to seriously dampen uptake.

          • @MasterScythe: Yes, you need a HDMI 2.1 port. In a nutshell its better for the PS5 because of the higher bandwidth it transmit.

Better for 4k and faster refresh rates.

            BUT…… 2.1 isn't a need. I am sure the average person wouldn't even notice.

Plus I purchased a TV that is $1k with no 2.1 port, I had harvey norman vouchers to use but I am not willing to spend 1.7k on their tvs with 2.1 HDMI ports for a PS5 just yet.

      • It's my only TV, and I have no issues with it for switch gaming. The blacks might not be great for games designed to "pop" with HDR though, but the colours are decent if you tune them a bit (turn down that saturation especially).

  • Anyone tried using budget UHD TVs as monitors? What is that like? Seems there are a few deals out these days where 50" UHD TVs are around 300-400 range. I am considering using the UHD TV as 4 screens to replace my current dual monitor setup.

    • I am using this model now, for the previous silly cheap price.
Works fine, clear enough for my crappy vision.

      • Thanks, I might give one ago the next time one of these cheap UHD TVs come up.

    • I've been using this as my computer screen in WFH since April. Big enough to manage 2 or 4 windows side by side. MAssive improvement than having to squint at my surface pro. Having 2 windows on the same hardware is less taxing (processing-wise) on the surface pro, and I dont need a dock.

      • Thanks, have you thought about splitting the TV artificially into 4 screens using software or do you feel that working with 2 or 4 windows side by side in one gigantic screen is better?

      • Any chance you could pots a photo of the screen with text. I am keen to purchase for WFH too.

  • No stock in Brisbane it seems.

  • +1

oh yeah, got one ready for PS5

  • Wow so cheap. At this price, it is cheaper to hang this on the wall as display photo rather than printing a photo and put a proper frame on it :D. Remember the old days where they were selling 10" digital photo frame for over $300?

  • I had a big TCL 4K once as a monitor. The delay was horrible, as was the text. Sold it off asap as I did not need a big TV. Been too scared to try another since.

Got the last one in maribynong (melb Vic), thanks OP. My fellow Victorians the GG are having an extra 10% off promo until sunday, find one where you can. I paid $265 for a 50 inch 4k TV! not expecting the best quality but moving on from a 5 year old 1080P tv

  • you can buy 5 of these rather than getting one full array Sony lol

Dam do manufacturers have no shame on landfill.

    • What are you talking about?

      • -1

Well that sums up to answer

        • You’re making no sense.

            Linsar 50" 4K UHD LED TV $294

            What are you talking about,

            You’re making no sense @paintoad

            • @[Deactivated]: What are you on about?

Are you suggesting people save enough money to properly dispose of this at an ewaste facility in 5-10 years when its obsolete?

Are you suggesting that big brands are wasteful, as indicated by cost?

Is Linsar also a major recycling company?

You're really not making any sense.

              • -3

@MasterScythe: If two political candidates were running for a position in politics way way up, and you and someone else were to decide the fate of either candidate, I would suggest both candidates shoot them selves for their is no cure for foolish people like your self.

                Stay strong my naive friend.

                • @[Deactivated]: Are you a bot?

Both myself and paintoad have had zero responses that are at all related.

You've made no sense in any reply.

And you refuse to explain what you mean.

Also, suggesting suicide isn't acceptable in our culture.

                  Learn, bot; learn.

  • This smart TV is not using Android TV OS right?

    • -1

Yes it's using everything that's cheap, you can buy as many of these TV's as you want can't say your getting your money's worth.

If you cannot tell the difference between a apple or orange, I guess it doesn't really matter.

      • If you cannot tell the difference between a apple or orange, I guess it doesn't really matter.

In which case, he CAN say he's getting his moneys worth.

Why pay for an orange when an apple will do just fine?

        • -1

Because both are the same, the orange is the apple, as so the the apple being the orange.

Go get a blood test and ask your self why.

But if all you can see is skin, then maybe that's the problem with the consumer.

          • @[Deactivated]:

Because both are the same, the orange is the apple, as so the the apple being the orange.

Then the smart consumer would buy whichever is cheaper.
