having withdrawals from the amazon deal that done a hole in my pockets

  • how much are these normally? not the $299 normal I mean

      • Thanks, I will pass. Delivery added its only a 12% saving for me.

        • -2

These r $159 for a while now. U can wait until they has sth else on sale with free shipping, then add these it. Then ur whole cart has free shipping, no matyer how heavy they r. Their cart is quite dumb.

  • Bought Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz from amazon third party instead…$182, but have to wait.

Planning to build a new Ryzen 5000 based PC late this year/early next year. Should I just bite the bullet on this deal?

    • I'm in the same boat!

    • +2

There are some cheaper ones on amazon when you factor in shipping. So you can prob wait for a better deal.
I'm annoyed I missed out on the crucial 32gb kit for $140 on prime days.

      • +1

I suppose that is a good idea, especially with black Friday and holiday sales coming up soon enough. Thanks!

        • +1

There are some stuff worth buying if it's cheap enough.
I bought a psu and M.2 ssd from ebay during the prime days and also got a mobo.

    • I'm waiting for RAM compatibility and performance on the new CPUs.

      • +3

AMD have said RAM compatibility and performance will be same as everything we know for the 3000 series FYI so 3600MHz CL16 the performance sweetspot.

        • +1

A may have misinterpreted an article today that recommends 4000mhz

          https://videocardz.com/newz/leaked-slide-explains-amd-ryzen-…

          • @Unseatingcargo1: Oh very interesting - thanks for that!
All the youtube reviewers stated that AMD told them what I said above - so I wonder if that slide is just outdated or if reviewers weren't told the whole story….
I found this reddit thread as well - https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/jbqghu/leaked_slide_ex…

          • @Unseatingcargo1: Interesting. Just curious they said 4000mhz is to Zen 3 as 3800 was the sweet spot for Zen 2.

How common was 3800? Without a loose timing?

I havn't tinkered with my pc for the last 8 years so no idea just asking.

            • @phynicle: It's not the memory speed/bandwidth/throughput that matters, it's having the fabric clock 3600mhz (or higher) and no wait to to transfer to memory (matched clock speed). 3200c16 can probably provide enough throughput but the lower fclk with hurt performance

So, if you're at 3800c18 you're not leaving too much on the table performance wise.

All that being said, getting the fclk and mclk to 3800 isn't that common. 3600 is pretty much guaranteed but I do have one running at 4000.

      • wouldnt it be based on the motherboard not the cpu

        • +1

Memory controllers haven't been on motherboards for quite a while now.

  • I bought 32GB of this a couple of months ago, keep getting tempted to pick up another, but they seem to be on sale every week or two anyway.

Thanks OP, just got the 32GB Neo for my son's gaming PC :)

      Hey, it's me your son…..

        lol

        Kids are expensive…

        • +1

          That's why I haven't bought one….

@Forfiet: I thought I wanted a baby but then I had to carry around an umbrella around all day while it wasn’t raining and now I’m like, nah.

  • Not as good as the Amazon for $140, but still good for prices now.

  • I seriously can't decide between 3200cl16 or 3600c18 for the extra 100 bucks (will be getting a ryzen 5000 series cpu).

Tempted to go for the cheap ram and throw the money at a better cpu

    • +5

depending on what your spending the extra 100 on, you will probably find a bigger improvement in, say, an improvement from r5 to r7, then 3200 to 3600, from what i understand

      • Thanks for the advice :)

    • +1

If you have the time to wait for decent prices on the ryzen 5xxx series, you might as well wait and hunt for deals on Black Friday or Cyber Monday for stuff like this:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572445

If you don't have the time then yeah go with the cheaper ram. Ram is getting much cheaper every year compared to CPU's.

  • +1

    Ignore this. I'm dumb.

    • Thank you

    • Clock 18 3600 and is 16gb.

Speed would be around cl16 3200 I reckon

  • +2

shipping killed it for me :(

  • G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MHz CL16 DDR4 Desktop RAM Memory Kit $159.30

noob question, would this be fine for my ryzen 3600 build?

    • Yes.

    • I'd still run the DRAM calculator and try for 3600mhz or more

  • +1

ram can give trouble - getting support from shopping express about faulty ram ain't gonna be easy - not sure if its worth the hassle.

    • Probably not much different to other cheap sellers tho

      • no amazon does cheap ram occasionally - better odds

  • I just checked and it’s listed as $177
Is there a discount code to get the $159 price?

    • Read the OP - "Discount Shows at Checkout"

      • Thanks mate
