  • When will wifi 6e come out?

    • Already is but won't be mainstream for long time

      • Bugger. Personally in my house 802.11ac seems to be more than adequate for everything in the house even including the IoT devices. Really doesn't have a compelling reason to move to Wifi 6. But the extra band in 6E is the only one that could help justify an upgrade. Suppose the manufacturer's need to clear their existing wifi6 inventory first before 6E starts to trickle out

  • anyone use one of these in aus? mind sharing experience?

Looking for a dedicated router to use for virtual desktop /quest 2, will this be a good option?

    • Should be, pop it in bridge mode and connect up. I used an old Telstra Cable modem as a dedicated access point on the Quest 1 and despite not evening maxing out Quest 1 wifi it worked well. A pci-e card in the pc itself set as an access point could potentially have less latency, but my pc is nowhere near play areas so range is an issue.

  • Will this replace my vodafone hub box and will it be fasteR?
    it bloody looks good

  • ok, bring out the racists……

Bloody PRC company, trying to spy on everyone's porbhub history. How dare they!

  • Would be good to have some review on Huawei's mesh performance. Asus AiMesh is the benchmark for 1. Scalability; 2. Combination of router performance + a mesh setup.

  • Shows as AU$110.91 delivered once GST and delivery added how to get A$99.75?

edit: ok went through again and got the correct price this time. Odd.

  • Cheaper on aliexpress, bangood slow too 6 weeks to deliver poco x3 so as slow as aliexpress

I went with Asus thru newegg for my wifi 6 router but not cheap

  • Just remember this is the Chinese language version you'll have to use google translate through Chrome

Got one 2 weeks ago and very happy.Been in my house since 2006 and despite trying various solutions such as additional routers, never had full wifi coverage. This cover the whole home and with a very strong signal and can handle video without drop outs. Not set up for Mesh, just daisy chained off an Optus Sagemcom F@st3864AC. There are 2 versions of the software - Global and Chinese. Chinese is supposedly better. You can use Google Chrome to translate for setup. If you use the app and have the Chinese software, set the region to China or it will not find the router. The language on the app automatically displayed as English. Thinking of getting a second one for my in-laws who have a Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 that does not give real good coverage in their 2 storey house. Best price I have found is on Aliexpress for about AUD$80 delivered.

    • Thanks. Very tempting. Have you tested speed on ethernet connection?

      • Why not skip the Optus router altogether (unless on fttn).

        • Definitely use bridge mode if available. No point doing double NAT

          • @CoronavirusVaccine: A switch will do the trick, the switch with 1. Nbn box, 2. Personal/main router 3. Optus VOIP/local phone/"router" plugged in. Key is disabling DHCP on the ISP supplied junk.

If voip is not needed, just the nbn box + main/personal router will suffice.

          • @CoronavirusVaccine: He doesn't even need to do that. Just disable DHCP on the Huawei router

        • I know the current setup is not optimum. Planned to drop the optus router that but one downside is I then have only 3 gigabit ports and I have 4 things on ethernet. This way I get the additional ports. The other issue I have is kicking 4 people off the network whilst I reconfigure :-)

      • Yes. With my far from optimum setup on the one port on ethernet I get 52.9 Mbps download and 18.2 Mbps upload on a laptop. My Optus plan is an HFC NBN 50 so maybe take that result with a pinch of salt. A PC connected directly to the Optus Sagemcom router consistently gives me 47.7 Mbps download and 18.8 Mbps upload. That PC would be 10 years old so maybe that is a factor.

        • Thanks. I'm on FTTC 50/20, and I'm getting 44-46Mbs download and 18Mbs upload on ethernet, and I think that's probably as good as I can get , and like you I'm also using an old laptop more than 10 years old.

  • Is this nbn compatible?

    • +4

Yeah it can be used on the NBN.

HFC & FTTP = NBN NTD + Huawei.
FTTC = NBN NCD + Huawei.
      FTTN & FTTB = VDSL2 modem + Huawei.

  • Dont mind commies spying.

From a security point of view, any reports on backdoor/vulnerability to-date?

I find some Chinese domestic models to have backdoor/vulnerability issues.

  • These look good. But I'll be holding out for 11/11 singles day specials. They should be doing a decent sale then being an Asian company. If not there's Black Friday
