    Boy that's tempting

    • -1

Cheaper at TecoBuy, and similar price at BecexTech.

      • +2

Shipping is not free with teco

        • -2

Then use code: TECO8, save some $$

          • +7

@UserGM: Couldn't get TECO8 to work, but coupon code CART3 saves you another $35.97
Bringing the total down to: AU$1,163.03

  • Me 2… anyone can review on this phone?

    • +21

It’s just like a regular smart phone..but with a gimmicky flip feature. It’s usually way overpriced, but reasonably priced here. The elephant in the room is the seller. How is your appetite for risk?

      • +1

Toby Deals are fine… I've used them to purchase Samsung phones before.

        • +1

You’re right. No one else’s terrible experience matters as long as yours was ok.

          Brilliant.

    • +2

Plenty of reviews on YouTube. At this price it more accurately reflects it's value, nice phone but they need to work out how to protect the screen better and get an IP68 rating for durability.

    • +1

ive only seen them in display at stores. all the samsung branded ones have fairly obvious warping of the screens at the bends, though they arent as noticeable when the phones in use.

  • +8

I saw this a lot in Korean TV dramas recently.

    • +2

😂. you know samsung’s based in korea right?

    • +14

The drama was probably produced by a Samsung company.

      • +1

Wow product placement in TV, who would have thought?

    • +5

Yup, Samsung sponsors a lot of those big drama companies (as well as some other brands like Subway and Jaguar/Land Rover). Pretty much every product that gets more than a little screen time in a large scale Korean drama is most likely sponsored.

My sister in law has this phone. It's chunky. Her sole purpose was getting a phone that could fit her purse. I personally don't see the benefit of having a flip phone that's this expensive.

    • +1

If someones having difficulty putting a normal sized mobile phone into their purse, then it's probably too small

But then again I'm a guy and walk around with phone, wallet and keys in my trouser pockets so what do I know?

    • Flip phones back in the 90s used to cost the same and they didn't even have a colour display.

  • +1

Does anyone know what version this is - will Samsung Pay work in Aus?

    • +2

Yes Samsung pay works in Australia. I have it set up on my galaxy gear 3 watch

    • +1

Samsung pay works but not all financial institutions support it (mainly the smaller ones like building societies).

      • I don't carry anything other than my Galaxy Note 10+, with all cards in Samsung Pay (CBA, ANZ, 28Degrees, & more). It works even without tap with the magnetic simulator.

    • +3

Confirmed to work with ANZ cards.

      • +2

Confirmed to work with Coles Mastercard too

      • ANZ had been the most techy bank in Australia for years: ticketing system, Apple Pay, etc. They introduced that years before Commonwealth.

    • +1

Yes but does Samsung Pay on this particular grey market phone work in Australia…. I know the app works in Aus, but recall hearing something vaguely a while ago that it didn't work on grey market phones?

      • +1

Samsung Pay works on my S8+ grey market phone bought from the US but for the UAE market. So it has promos etc for that region only. There was no issue connecting Citibank and Westpac cards to it. I believe you can flash the local version if you really want to but not sure if that might affect options like dual SIM which was not available on S8(+) here.

        • Thanks for your response - genuinely appreciated!

  • +8

Might want to also check the seller reviews before buying

    • +8

My experience with Tobydeals has been awful. Every. Single. Time. (3 times). Sworn off them for life.

      • +4

Just trying to avoid a new thread in the forum about where is my phone. What do I do to get my money back. Need to do some due diligence before purchase with these guys. Cheapest may not necessarily mean the best purchase experience.

        • use paypal

      • -1

when you didn't learn the second time.. i have no pity for you lol

    • -2

Might want to also check the seller reviews before buying

      Already did. You didn’t?

      • +2

Just flagging it. Alot of new Ozber's go all out for deal then think later and complain. There is a reason it is cheaper than local offerings. Purchase with Paypal and price protection CC.

    • +2

I got the poco f2 pro from them few weeks ago, no complaint, fast delivery. What's the issue?

      • +1

I got one too with no issues, the problem with Tobydeals is when the item breaks and you need to make a warranty claim.

  • Thanks to Prino app

  • +8

My experience with tobydeals is quite good. Cheaper Poco F2 pro phone with super fast delivery.

  • +7

Are they paying the Queen to assemble these? That original price is insane!

    • +2

Gotta pay off all that foldable screen R&D somehow.

    • +13

Have you seen the new iPhone price? Phone looks the same as the previous year but price is over 2000$. At least you can fold this one.😉

      • +2

The new iPhone is cheaper than the old one.

      • +31

Fold phone is nothing new. Apple did that with their iPhone 6. Instead of fold they called it bend.

        • Lmao

      • -1

But the screen will break sooner, from all that folding.

      • Phone looks the same as the previous year

Looks more like the iPhone 5 tbh

  • +4

Warranty is with Toby's , not Samsung …..I'm out.

    • +4

      Sale is by Toby’s…I’m out

      • No dual Sim… I'm out

        • +3

          What is this?

          An episode on Shark Tank?

  • +4

This phone has never retailed at $3,249.99 so how are they allowed to say it was that price?

The most I've seen it retail at was $2199

    • -2

It's probably HKD. Since Tobydeals is based in HK.

      • +2

        That’s like $500. I doubt it.

    • Their shop, their rules.

  • +2

Got my Poco f2 from tobydeals few weeks ago. Experience was actually not bad. Got the phone within a week.well packaged. Good price. No complaints here.

  • Let me guess this phone hasn't been selling well at its original price of >$3000?

    • I have a feeling the days of well priced electronics from HK aren't there any more. Well maybe camera equipment might be better.

  • Tobynodeals

  • +1

Saw this in store and honestly kept putting it down for the fold 😅

  • I will have to plead ignorance on the subject.

is this even convenient to use?

    • +1

To close, yes. To open, no.

  • +2

I've bought 2 xiaomi phones from toby before. Both times went smoothly. They never broke though, so can't speak for warranty

    • Pray they dont.

  • -6

Samsung trying hard to be relevant, imagine if they just banished the adds, removed their advertising business and just sold it based on the product.

I dunno about Toby, maybe the name says it all, anyways.

That's another reason why I like xiomai, they do what others can't… and build premium products that make the consumer question them selves.

Strangely enough when ever I carry my mi max 3, people assume it's a iPhone due to the thin body ratio and mui interface.

    And I've never had a i phone

    • I'm a heavy Samsung user and never noticed any ads. Decided to check based on your comments and it seems it's only inside Samsung apps.

      For example:
Places, I didn't even have turned on.
      Samsung Music, who uses that?
Samsung Health, I use it every day and haven't seen any ads.

      • Turn your TV on, have a look at YouTube, adds everywhere…

Adds shouldn't be the driving force to sell a product if your confident enough to list it as the world's best, so deep down what are you really paying for when you buy a smart phone from Samsungs point of view.

        • Youtube? That's owned by Google not Samsung.

        • Indian YouTube Premium subscription is something like $2AU a month. No ads whatsoever. You need to up your ozbargining skills!

          • @laudern: How you do you get that?

            • @onlinepred: Set your vpn to India and then simply go to YouTube and sign up/pay. Once you are signed up turn off your vpn and youre all set to go.

              • @laudern: Do you pay currency conversion etc?

                • @onlinepred: I don't. But my credit card waves all international fees. But the fee is less than a dollar as I see how much I save when my bank waves the fee.

                  • @laudern: Signed up, will see what happens. Thanks mate!

                    • @onlinepred: I just checked my bank statements and I am charged $0.07 in international fees.

    • +1

      mi max 3

      Talk about ads lol.

      • Haha yeah…..Xiaomi's entire ecosystem is built off ads.

  • Is this the second gen flip or is it the same one where screen flex failed miserably?

    • Second gen mate. Flip never had any issues, it was the original Fold that wasn't even available to the public that had initial problems.

  • +1

I feel like I’m the only one who has had really really positive experiences with Tobys deals. It’s like my favourite place to buy technology now.

Warranty would probably be a hassle but I honestly think the savings make it worth the risk

  • +1

Hardly a deal? It's cheaper at TecoBuy and similar price at BecexTech, and that original price isnt even RRP. Just a made up number

  • +1

Was interested in this, but the display model at jb hi fi shows screen damage at the fold. I presume excessive use led to damage. Fold in the end a gimmick or very niche need.

    • The new one is very strong, many reviewers treat it worse than other phones, and still holds up.

      • fair enough, as usual it's early tech adoption phase still.

        • Not really. The fold is due to software, not this one though. Great phone with 3 years of updates.

  • RRP is wrong. Why not say it was selling for $20000? The New Z flip 5G Model is only $2100z

  • I have bought once from Tobys and the experience was pretty smooth. Good price!

  • +5

Toby or not to buy 😉

  • Spending $1200 for a folding screen phone from grey import seller. Good luck with the folding screen and your $1200.

  • +1

Just wanna share a little experience from my colleague who got this phone.

The biggest selling point for him for this phone is size after the phone is closed. It is much easier to put in his pocket and the phone drop rate has been lesser.

The biggest problem with this phone is the bluetooth. He used a galaxy watch and the bluetooth kept on and off connecting to his watch. This issue eats up his watch battery. He complainted this issue to samsung retailer and they gave him a replacement phone (allowed him to keep the flip).

    Therefore, please beawared.

    • yeah, every samsung that I have had ~5, had shitty bluetooth..

    • So he ended up with 2 flips?

  • Warranty would be hard to obtain at best. Good deal if you want to take the small risk.

  • I'm honestly perplexed at folding smartphones. People went crazy for thin & light, which I kind of understand, but 1-1.5 thousand to bend a phone into a chunky square is just odd to me….Specs (which other phones will offer) aside, is this basically about having the "new" carrot or am I missing something wonderful about folding up a phone?
