Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 UK Version - $37 Shipped from OzGameShop

72

Needed one for work and thought this was an excellent price

Google says it's the UK version - I'm not sure what that means or how it's different from the NA version, there might be an extra key

This is an excellent keyboard for those that touch-type, my co-workers who hunt and peck can't operate it due to the giant gap in the middle. I find it extremely comfortable and the only thing I can use for long days of pain-free coding

  • They are actually quite a bit different, and even if you didn't mind anyone else who ever used your computer is likely to assault you with the keyboard.

Update: differences include: @, #, ", ~ and the addition of two extra symbols.

I don't know if it deserves a neg though, I have the 7000 US version, it is extremely efficient, works really well and the shape (which is the same) is comfortable. Some people may prefer a UK keyboard, maybe they are from the uk or just having used one before. I am not saying it is for everyone, but it is a bargain, cheapest on StaticIce is $56.70. So I don't think it deserves a neg.

  • Gosh, how I hate these things. According to how I learned how to type, the B is on the wrong side of the keyboard.

    • I don't like them either, but that is person preference, but the US/UK thing is a real issue.

  • does this have the problem where [] () ; / \ are placed on different keys?

Best non-gaming keyboard ever! Has a scrolling device in the middle and very comfortable wrist rests.

Once you learn how to type with them you will never go back to standard keyboards. (Unless you are a gamer and then they will really annoy you!) Also fun when people go to use your PC and you get to watch them struggle :-)

    Great keyboard.

  • A keyboard like this is for a touch typist, we are taught to touch type with US keyboards in Australia so this keyboard would be counterintuitive for a touch typist.

People with limited keyboard skills will find the tilts make it harder to see/find the keys

So I'm going to neg this deal too, is it a deal to get something cheaper but doesn't work as you would expect?

  • Changing keyboard layouts is like moving between left and right hand drive cars…. You go for the invisible gear stick a few times but after 30 mins you are sorted.

That said given the choice the old huge white one is still my best keyboard.

      …right into the oncoming 22 wheeler. ;)

      • Except instead of 1 stick more like 5 and their all in different places, I have to question whether you have tried your theory out

Your shooting yourself in the foot with a keyboard like this. I have found even changing from a US to US keyboard that has keys slightly different sizes takes time to get used to when touch typing

Anyway you guys have been warned do as you will!

  • Emailed OzGameShop and they confirmed it is the UK version. From looking at the differences, I don't think this will work for me

OzGameShop was kind enough to cancel the order and issue a refund, so +1 for good service

Best price I could find for the NA version was $72 shipped
