After being told at 9.15am they couldn’t honour the order I went back at 5.30pm and they packed my order and handed it over.

  • Just got it delivered by my local JB staff member. I could actually see him making a few deliveries on the way through the app lol

  • +1

Glad it worked out. Enjoy it

    Great post OP

Just got another email now they are honouring the sale.

You would have recently received an email from us advising that your online order for the APPLE TV 4K 32GB had been cancelled due to a pricing error.

Please ignore this notification, we will continue to process your order.

For Click and Collect orders, please wait for your collection notification.

For delivery orders, you will receive a shipping confirmation email containing your tracking information shortly.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.

    • I also got the email saying they will now process my order! I think I will quickly go now and pick it up before they change their mind again! :)

    • Just received this email also, thanks for the heads up and grateful JB have honored the transaction.

  • +1

Thanks for the heads up on this! Thought it was a lost cause but after seeing the comments, went in this arvo and picked up my click and collect order no problems at all!!

  • +1

Just got the email as well to say they will honour the price error.

That's a really good customer service and outcome from a big company to he honest. They had all rights to cancel it.

    JB you've done it again.

  • +10

This feels like an epic deal… from the initial excitement of finding the deal, the regret of purchasing, the disappointment of the cancellation, the confusion of messages, the distraction of wondering if it will arrive, and the pleasure of having two lovely JB staff personally deliver the item…

  • +1

I got that email as well saying the order will be processed and I shall wait for a new notification for pick up.

    • I didn't wait for new notification pickup! Just went then and picked up no problem! Maybe just try or ring them!

    Kind Regards,

  • I got another email, jbhifi will honor it.

  • Yep just got an email saying they will honour it.

Guess losing $20-30 per sale isn’t worth the hassle of customer service dealing with angry ozbargain people

    • Do you think they concern themselves with the wrath of the ozbargain community? Damn straight…

  • Perhaps a JB online staff member noticed it was a pricing error and started the cancellation process, then some higher up may have realized that with the new Apple TV coming soon and the number of sales they had, it was in their best interests to proceed with the sales.

    • New Apple TV coming out next year

      • Around when next year?

        • No clue just next year

    • +1

Staff member told me they had to send initial cancellation email due to stock concerns that they wouldnt be able to honour orders - so had to make assessment before any orders.

  • I also got the email at 6:30pm Sydney time that JB will honour the order and to ignore the price error email.

Mine is for delivery and hasn't been sent out yet. I think by tomorrow it might be sent out.

  • Picked up form castle hill no problems!

    • I got mine in castle towers too.

  • Got mine from Castle hill as well

  • anyone get their new pick up notification?

    • +1

Just go in with previous pickup notification.

Got mine today without the new pickup email.

  • Picked up after receiving email no problems.

  • Just got email from them.

  • Got the email… woohoo! I’m glad I won’t be stuck with the gift card I bought.

Any recommendations for a suitable HDMI cable online?

    • +1 this. Do we really need a 48Mbps like what Apple recommend or will an 18Mbps cable do the same thing?

    • +4

A bit or research on Amazon and Whirpool came up with these being the most bang for your buck:

      • AmazonBasics cable
      • Monoprice Certified Premium HDMI Cable

Can be purchased on Amazon with free shipping if you have Prime. I purchased the AmazonBasics one

      • Yeah I did see these, I found quite conflicting comments on the 48 vs 18 Gbps. Some swear by using the 48, but other people seem to think there isn't much difference. I spoke to someone at JB who said 18 is fine, and 48 is overkill for pretty much everything (except maybe 8K TV's).

Apple do recommend a 48 Gbps one so it can support Dolby Atmos, so I wanted to ask someone who knows what they're talking about.

        • The Apple TV 4K supports HDMI 2.0a only. HDMI 2.0a has a maximum bandwidth of 18Gbps.

          • @Gradenko: Right. So Apple are recommending the 48Gbps one because they're Apple, not necessarily because they need it?

            • @JoKing: Do you have a link to Apple recommending 48Gbps cable for the Apple TV 4K?

              • @Gradenko: Point 4 talks about needing a HDMI that supports Dolby Vision.
The only ones I can find is this. This one mentions Dolby Vision HDR compatible and is 48Gbps.

There is also this, however it doesn't mention Dolby Vision and is only 18Gbps.

      • can you share link to the listing?

  • +3

Me too! What a roller coaster!
    Smells like an expensive backflip!
I bought with e-gift card via Suncorp for $151 with express postage. For $100 off (and a chance to pass on or sell our 4th gen), it’s a bargain even if a new one is imminent.
I love OzBargain, it means a great deal to me.

    • +1

It’s a great site, I’ve bought a lot of crap I didn’t really need over the years but it’s all a bit of fun.
I have also managed to snare some great deals like this, thanks to OzBargain community.

      • I agree but I was also making a pun ;)

        • Ah yes. I see what you did there. 😏

  • Picked up tonight. We also got an email that the order would be honoured

  • Am I the only one who haven’t got any communication except initial order confirmation email ?? 🤔

    • I’m the same. Got a cancellation and my order is still processing. I might give the store a call tomorrow

      • I got the cancellation, no follow up, but the order has changed to shipped, but no tracking number / email.

        • For me even there is no cancellation email

    • I received the cancellation email but not the follow up yet.

      • Just checked my toll tracking. Item was picked up yesterday and on the way to the USA.

        Wtf

    • I gave my store a call this morning to find out what was going on. They were polite and said they knew it was cancelled due to a price error, but they were also aware it was being honoured again - the only problem was they hadn't received clear comms about what to do, so they haven't handed out any. They took my details and have asked their storeroom staff to figure out what is going on and call me back.

  • +2

The most pleasant thing i would remember in 2020 !

    • +3

I hope that changes in 2 weeks.

  • +3

The 4k is superb. The A10x cpu and 3gig of ram really shine through compared to the 1080p model with A8 and 2gig. I thought that was smooth and snappy, this thing is on a whole new level.

  • +1

Got mine. Thanks so much OP. Amazing deal

  • I was able to pick up in Brisbane City this afternoon after getting a cancellation email this morning then a pickup SMS at lunchtime.

Crappy communication throughout but a decent end result from JB considering it was an error.

  • +12

Props to JB for honouring the price

    • staff member told me they had to freeze initially to check stock levels and see what they could honour before giving the ok

  • Well JB Kedron refused to give me the order. Despite having the collection email and text a couple of hours after the cancelled email. The manager contacted head office who told her that I have to apparently email head office, asking them to reinstate the order or something? So i have just sent off an email to head office explaining the circumstances. The manager said once this is done, I can come back and get the order. Seems strange but will hopefully get a response tomorrow.

Ordered C&C yesterday night - Penrith NSW. Got SMS ready for pickup at 7.30 am today. Followed by cancellation email at 9.00am advising refund. Online order status:Processing order.Called the store at 12pm to try my luck and ask if i can still pick up. Picked up at 12.30pm - no questions asked at the counter. Online order status:collected. Cheers OP and JB - this deal has been a roller coaster - mixed feelings all the way.

  • Originally JB was cancelling all orders due to pricing error.. I got a call from chadstone store at 9am saying order is locked and on hold.. and expect a cancellation email.

About 4pm I also received another call from the store letting me know JB has now decided to honor the price and i can come collect it.

Picked up after work no problem.

  • Thanks OP what a great find.

I spoke to the sales person regarding the confusion and she mentioned it was a pricing error and they had low stocks and they will be losing money on new stock. I was like meh, their markup is already way over to make up for such errors.

    • +5

'I was like meh, their markup is already way over to make up for such errors.'

Not when it comes to Apple goods it isn't.

Apple provides resellers with bugger all margin to negotiate on which is why most of the % off sales exclude Apple.

That's why this was and is such a good dealer.

Sometimes it really is a retailer doing the right thing by their customers when they make a pricing error. Give it the kudos it deserves.

  • +4

    This is fun.

The deal is better when you have to hunt and fight for it.

As things have been since the dawn of time.

  • PS5 just announced media apps which includes Apple TV too. Kinda makes this redundant now unless you want apps.

    https://blog.playstation.com/2020/10/22/new-media-experience…

    • +1

Problem with media apps on gaming consoles is having to switch game mode on/off manually. Some may be ok with game mode permanently, but not those that value top iq.

    • Not sure if I should thank you or curse you for posting that. This news makes it a difficult decision on whether to keep this Apple TV or just make the ps5 a streaming system too.

    • redundant now unless you want apps.

I'd say that's why 99% of people want this. The Apple TV+ service is shit house, it being available on other platforms means nothing to the usefulness of the actual Apple TV device.

Plus, using a video game console as a media player always sucks in my experience.

    • Not everyone wants to use their gaming console to watch movies.

    • Lel. That’s like saying don’t buy a new car cause your bike now has an odometer.

People aren’t buying a $200 device just so they can access one (relatively cr*p) streaming service

    • Use my Apple TV as my homekit hub……

    • you will not be able to use homepod on ps5.

    • Power usage will be considerably different between PS5 and ATV 4k

  • Damn that didn't last long :(

  • +1

Just had Toll sms that it was delivered to our local 7-11 just now for collection. This was after the cancellation email and no other contact. Thanks for the find op. Will go collect today.

  • My order still says processing so fired off an email to them to see what the hold up is. So many people have had their's delivered and also collected from the local stores. I hope they haven't forgotten about me lol.

    • Mines says shipped, no email or tracking numbers. Fired email off asking for tracking. Happy to wait just want to be home so tracking makes that easier to organise availability and confirm it actually shipped

  • Just picked mine up after calling and confirming it was there and ready. The lady said their store was not updated by Head Office until late yesterday afternoon.

  • +4

So many BNIB Apple TVs popping up on fb marketplace for $230.. disappointing

    • +2

Also a few Vodafone TV streamers appearing on Gumtree. It's a good little unit, and mine is going into the TV in the family room…
But I have to say that Kayo in 4K on a proper native app is just mega, and while the selection of stuff to watch on Apple TV+ is not huge, there is a bit there I would like to see.
Thanks again to OP for one of the best buys of 2020

      • Kayo doesn’t broadcast in 4K, max is 1080p

  • Well done to everyone who got one, great deal. I wanted to pull the trigger bad but for once the realisation that I don’t actually need it got the better of me.

But the amount of brand new, sealed Apple TV 4ks that have suddenly popped up on Facebook marketplace today at $20-30 below RRP is insane. Been pretty funny reading the BS stories in their posts as to why they’re selling them though. e.g. “bought yesterday for my new TV, realised I don’t need it as it already has all the apps built in. Selling cheaper, My loss is your gain.” - mate it’s still sealed, you can return it lmao.

    • +2
      • Silly Fil.

        • Funny how these people come up with stories. After the Apple Airpods Pro deals on Ebay, so many people were selling those by saying how they all got these "unwanted" gifts. I wonder why I don't get these unwanted gifts ever.

There will now be a surge in "unwanted" Apple TVs as gifts.

    • +1

Yeah saw this one too. Should spam this guy for trolling..

  • Can anyone suggest good hdmi cable for Apple TV. Currently am using the cable came with Vodafone tv. It won’t support playing some videos in Amazon prime

    • +1

I'm just using a cheap DTech one I got from an OZB deal(don't remember when)
The only thing I was not aware of(or I had forgotten about) is that my Sony Bravia TV only supports HDR on HDMI 2 and 3, and HDMI 3 is taken by the soundbar as it's the only ARC port. When I connected the Applet TV to HDMI 2, HDR was automatically activated.
Update: Found the deal from last year and it's still available and inexpensive, less than $6 delivered with Amazon Prime https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/446223
P.S. I watched Grayhound on Apple TV+ last night and it looked amazing

  • +1

I’m absolutely spewing I missed out on this. I have the gen 4 1080 model in my living room but would love a 4K model to put in the living room and put the gen 4 in my garage.

    • +1

I had already the gen 4 and moved it to my 1080p projector room when I got the 4K.
Another pleasant fact I discovered today is that Airplay(mirror iphone/ipad screen) on the 4K is much smoother and faster to connect

      • That’s great because recently I’ve found my AirPlay a little dodgy.

  • +1

Got no backflip email but unit turned up today.

Received my Apple TV 4K 32GB from JB Hi-Fi. Activated my free Apple TV+ last night!

  • +1

Lol mine is still processing as per the order status. I chose delivery.

I have emailed them on Friday asking what's the hold up. So far no response.

    I will call them tomorrow.

    • Same here, keep me updated!

      • +2

I got a reply this morning from JB support. They said my order has been packed and will be despatched soon.

I will let you know once they send it out.

      • +1

I got an email from JB at 3:55pm that my order is awaiting carrier pickup.

So finally on the move. It hasn't been picked up yet but hoping to get it by the end of the week.

      • +2

Just got it delivered now. Setting it up now :)

    • +1

Ordered mine 21/10 when it was posted here, got confirmation email, then email saying it was cancelled then another email it wasn't cancelled. My order was marked as shipped however no tracking number. Sent msg asking what was going on on the 22nd and no response still. I was on hold with head office today (hadn't spoken to anyone yet) when I received an email that my item was being picked up today and the courier details had been added to my order. Seems they are just behind. Hope that gives some others waiting some hope :)
