  • Just spoke to them over the phone. Confirmed that the $500 gift card for iPhone deal is running. It comes off the outright purchase of the iPhone (i.e it can’t be added as a mobile repayment) & is apparently running until the 5th of Nov. It’s also in store only, even for VIC customers. So bad luck my fellow Melbourne bro’s and broette’s. Fortunately, the bloke I spoke to reckons they are going to bring out a specific offer for VIC when stores reopen.

  • +1

just got call back and finish port in(vic user)

  • Got the $59 pm/$500 gift card today, but bought a 12 so not sure whether it was linked to that.

    • 12 what?

      • Read above, must be iPhone 12 given the current deal is $500 gc only if you are signing up to an iPhone 12 on the $69-$10 plan.

  • I grabbed this yesterday at TGG and it’s up and running and I’ve received the email with my contract. It mentions that changing the contract MAY incur an etc. how would I know if they’re going to charge it. I’m thinking of changing to the big plan $115 less $50 per month and keep that going. I can do the change in the app and there’s no warning there that it would incur an etc.
    what do you think guys?

    • Did you end up doing this? Keen to know outcome. THanks!

      • Same - would be good to know if possible without paying ETC.

        • According to Telstra upgrading the plan is considered early cancellation and the ETC applies.

  • So I went into JB and since they don’t have any stock wouldn’t do the plan.

Wouldn’t even give me a gift card so I could preorder for the next batch.

    Anyone else have this issue?

    • Not really helpful now but they ran this deal again on Sunday. I asked about when the next one would be and was told ‘we literally show up and all stores have an email saying today only (or the like)’. The only difference with this deal was the GC had to be used on a iPhone (maybe? Definitely phone maybe iPhone). Anyways someone before had preordered an iPhone 12 for next shipment so they offered same to me. Half way through sign up a manager came over and said I would have to pay full phone price (minus the $500 today to reserve the phone) that was a deal breaker for me as I am currently waiting on 10% JB GC from another deal. They quickly back tracked as they were going to lose a sale and said they will honor when the 12 pro comes back in stock. I did however get a phone call today saying I will need to come back in and pay the remainder off the phone to show a true preorder and proper reserve a phone for me. No real timeline was given so I will hold off until I receive my GCs anyway. This was absolutely no help I realise but as I said before I would continue to keep an eye out on here for future deals or even just showing up in person at JB when they have more stock as they do randomly have the deal and do not advertise it.

  • Anyone able to add the $10 international package for calls and texts overseas? Telstra message kept telling me unable to add and have to cancel and get telstra plan and pay ETC. Surely there is a way around this?

    • interested on this as well..

  • I've successfully ported to Telstra, when and how am I going to receive the giftcard? Thanks

    • once the sim is activated, it can take up to a week and it will be sent to via e-mail. I signed up last week and this is what i was advised. my sim comes today

    • I just went back into the store and they checked their system to confirm and then sorted me out in store.

      • What did you say? Just say you activated any asked for assistance in getting the gift card?

  • Did anyone else get billed starting from the day they signed up, instead of the day the sim card arrived/it was activated in a phone?

I'm in Vic, so had to sign up over the phone and the sim card was posted to me…

    • yes. same in VIC

  • I know this deal has expired, but for those in VIC, has anyone had any luck gettimg them to do a similar deal in-store today?

    • +1

Just checked with the store. They say there’s no such deal - upon checking further they say it’s expired now.

Let us know if anyone in Vic finds that out. ta

      • Did at JB Hifi Vic today and whole process took 25min from in to out no problems.

  • How long did people wait for the GC after activation? Should I be following it up with jb

    • 3 working days for me.

      • Thanks!
Did you get it through email from jb?

        • +1

Yep, it came through via email.

I did give them a call 1 day after activation to check on the status, and they did mentioned it might take up to 5 working days due to the number of applications they were processing.

          • @RyanMK: Awesome thanks for your help!!

  • I still haven't received my Sim - is this just a case of terrible Auspost at work? The email's I received don't have an account number I can login with…

    • auspost is delayed since covid started.

    • So much easier to do in store, did today in VIC store and got SIM card, old one stopped working immediately, and walked out with a $500GC in hand. Whole process less than 30min in total.

  • I just got my second bill and I'm not sure if I'm being billed twice for the same period (i.e. 1st full month).
My first bill charging $123.90 included fine print
"Includes a charge from the start of your new plan/bundle to the end of this billing period, plus a charge in advance for the next billing period."
The charges and corresponding dates are pretty clear in the bill. i.e. $123.90 is for 22/10-23/10 ($5.90) plus 24/10-23/11 ($59x2).

Now my second bill that I just received, is charging $118 ($59 x 2), for the period 24/10-23/11, which is the same period, and already billed in the 1st bill…
I tried querying the bill through Telstra's woeful "live" chat and 132200 tel, and now stuck with Messages Telstra service, and am even trying twitter..
Wondering out loud if this is a one off problem for me or if other people might be experiencing the same.

  • I am on my second bill now and I am not having the issue you are having, maybe others can chime in as well. However, I have a $100 'Value Mobile Customer Credit' that is appearing on my bill that have essentially given me $100 off. I'm not too sure if anyone else got that? Not sure if it's an error but I am definitely not complaining!

Agree with the Telstra chat comment though, it is painful trying to get through!

    • $100 off is a very enviable situation! No such luck here. After chatting all day to a bot like human, still no clarification. I'm told the month in advance will be refunded at the end of the contract and termination of service, but when I ask where it shows this in the bill the bot replies with an irrelevant answer that's been provided 2 times already. Going back to try and resolve this after putting it to the side for the weekend.

      • My first two bills are the same @3sky - I thought it was just Telstra's way of taking a month in advance but didn't pick up on the date issue you mentioned. Would be good to know if you get it sorted.
