    • For the ignorant (me), what's the difference?

      • +4

HS has displayport and height adjustable & rotatable stand

        • Also FreeSync support for nVidia cards using DP

          • @bazingaa: Hey could I ask, im using this one right now on HDMI with a 2080 Super, will it be a big improvement if I were to use the HS version?

I recommended this monitor to a friend and they bought 2, so I took one off her incase it wasn't that great.

            • @Ttpaa: Actually I don't have this monitor or haven't used G-Sync. As I know, if you need to use G-Sync on a FreeSync monitor, a DP cable should be used with latest drivers on 1xxx or above cards as per nVidia FreeSync guide. Then in nVidia control panel's G-Sync configurations will be enabled. Other than using G-Sync for gaming (their is no DP on HN version as it has 2 HDMI ports only) and adjustable stand, the both monitors are similar.

      Expecting 4k for $188?

    • I feel like the $40-50 spent moving to QHD/1440p on the Dell S2721D/S (when on sale) is a noticeable improvement and a worthwhile investment.

  • What's the difference between S2721H and S2721HN?

    • +42

      N.

      • +1

not with that dot at the end it isn't

    • +11

      s2721h has speaker.

… and the other just from Harvey

Any word on the 27 inch QHD?

    • +12

      Yep. Says DELL.

    lol 1080p

  • +15

Currently using one. Great for movies and gaming. Is ok for office work…text can suffer a bit from low res. No good for photo editing.

    • You can try with a higher custom resolution while keeping active signal resolution at 1080p. I am using 1920 * 1536 on a 1280 * 1024 monitor when I have to work with multiple windows to keep them side by side.

      • Thanks! Didn't know I could so that. Unfortunately it just makes the text worse.

      • What's the point?

        • +1

Everything is scaled down and so more screen real estate

    • +1

Which monitor would you recommend for photo editing and also a bit of gaming as well at a half-decent price?

      • Not sure on specific models, but text and images looked better at 1080p on my 24". Not enough pixels on a 27" at 1080p. So if you're on a budget stick with a 24". If you do any photo editing or graphics work I'd prioritize that over gaming, cause gaming is very forgiving.

    • spot on - i got one from the previous deal for use as a second monitor - it's fine for watching youtube in 1080 which is what i wanted it for

no matter matter how much i played with the settings, word docs look washed out and too bright and if i turned down the brightness then youtube vids are too dark etc - impossible to find a brightness/contrast/gamma setting that suits both

    • I use one with my desktop PC as my 2nd screen to display my CCTV cameras (13 of them)….it's perfect for that. My main screen is a 32" 4K

      • +1

13 cameras? Now I know where are all the weeds coming from…..lol

  • ordered one thanks!

A comparison of various S2721 dell models
    https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/efd714b1…

  • Waiting for another S2721D deal, missed the earlier one :(

    • Didn't help when punters were buying 5 at a time!!

  • Doesn't look like this bad boy can go vertical?

  • So tempting… Ugh… Thanks for posting.

Great as a spare kid Xbox monitor while they use headphones on their controllers. While the main room TV is in use.

  • just got mine from last deal (with stand). looks VERY NICE and noticeably bigger than my 24" dell

  • +10

Do yourself a favor and dont buy this. Need 1440p minimum for 27inch

    • +1

      mine looks fine

    • Yeah I remember when I bought my 1440p korean monitor around 8 years ago. I don't know why people are using 1080p monitors in 2020.

pleases link to comparable 1440p monitor for similar price to this deal

        • The best 2k 27" product close to this price would be the S2721D @ $239 when on deal.

    • Need 1440p minimum for 27inch

No we don't, the resolution is fine for the size.

      • Last time I appreciated 1080p monitor was in 2007.

      • dont use "we"!

        • You may need it, but everybody else may not.

    • +1

      I have a 1080p 27". Looks fine imo. Ymmv.

  • i would buy if it had 1:1 scaling and better color accuracy.

  • I have a DELL ST2420L 24"W HD Monitor with WLED. Will this be an upgrade? Thanks

    • Your current one is TN, this one is IPS. This will be an upgrade, especially if you have an oldish PC (which doesn't support 1440p or won't do it unless through DisplayPort).

  • I was considering this for an arcade cabinet build, but I ended up going with the BenQ GL2780 for $183 from PLE

    • Pi or PC?

      • Pi

        • Off topic, but I'm working on a 60 in 1 jamma, a pc based and a retropi at the moment. Which front end for pi you going to use?

  • +1

Got one on the last deal, received it Monday, it's fine for my WFH. I have 2x24" 1080p Dell screens at work, so I'm used to the screen for Word etc. I probably should have got the height adjustable model, assuming it can go higher than this.

    • +2

      Agree.

Mine arrived Saturday, ordered from original deal.

I also got it for WFH use.

Have it next to an old Dell 24" ultrasharp, but both set back about a metre from my seating position and with my old eyes, have screen size and font size enlarged so I don't need to use reading glasses.

1440p display would be a waste for this setup, as not going to notice the difference with font size and distance I am from it. It replaced an older 22" Dell ultrasharp that was just a bit small for the distance - recycled to another family member for attaching to their laptop now.

Old 24" it's next to has a bit of a warm light tint, so set the S2721HN using warm colour preset and is a close enough match. Agree, the out of the box setting is too bright and cold for standard PC use - whites start to sear a hole in the back of your eyeballs.

Have second HDMI port connected to an Android box (Vodafone TV) and it remembers a separate colour setting for that, without losing the warm setting for the PC. Nice to have the audio out port, so can just plug in some headphones for VTV or music files on the PC.

A couple of stuck dark pixels, but not noticeable unless you go looking close up.

For $188 delivered and 3 year warranty, cannot complain for my use. Might have just been improved if I'd got the S2721H with speakers deal when it was the same price for a fleeting moment, but at 3W the speakers would be pretty underpowered anyway, so probably not missing much. Have a good amp with speakers setup close by, if really want decent sound without headphones.

Elevated mine slightly using centre speaker that sits at back of desk and makes it just the right height for me. If you don't need swivel to put in vertical position, then easy enough to put something under the stand to elevate it - has a broad base, so pretty stable.

An extra DP port and the adustable stand is not worth the extra $40 for my use, so overall, very happy with it so far for the price.

  • Does this monitor have VESA mount support? I cant see anything in the tech specs but it looks as though there may be a plate you can remove on the back to connect a monitor arm

    • Yep, has VESA. Also comes with four screws, so is a simple matter to slot it onto a monitor arm

    • I got one from original deal and used VESA mount with out any issues. The monitor is not top notch but good value for the $$ paid.

  • +3

Great deal but I think it would be worthwhile waiting/paying for a 1440p instead

    • Yeah 2K seems to suit my needs better for my wife's PC in the family room that watches a bit of netfix too.

  • Will the cashrewards bonus apply to this?

    • You can try, it will probably track, but you will need to wait till 2021 to find out whether Dell will approve it.

  • With a 27 inch screen, is it big enough to have 3 open PDFs or excels side by side? Or would a 32 to 34 inch better. My current 24 is too small.

    • +3

I would say no because of 1080p. If you have a 27" 4k then yeah maybe.

      • Hmmm is that just the pixel difference? Why do you say so?

        • I guess it's personal preference. But I would think the text would be rendered too large in native 1080p for 3 docs to be open. And the pixel density not great enough to shrink the text and still be clear/sharp.

          • @Drogo: I see. I don’t really know too much about monitors and I need one for study/work. Would the xiaomi 34” be good enough in your opinion?

            • @Flowerbomb: Sorry I'm not really an expert on monitors either. Just sharing my experience with 24" and 27" 1080p monitors.

    • -1

27 inch 1440p, you can probably do 2 PDFs side by side. 27 inch 4K, you pretty much have to use 150% scaling (which will feel like 1440p equivalent in terms of effective desktop space).

If you want 4K at 1:1 mode, you should go 32-34. Alternatively, get 2 27 inch monitors.

      • Thanks. Yeah need to have 3 documents open side by side, so probably will get a 34 ultra wide as you mentioned. Would this be a good budget option? It’s still more than the $400 I want to spend though. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/576144

I ordered the one last time, it just came yesterday. A no-frill monitor, nothing's fancy. It is good for watching the video, not too much for text.

  • Hi all, I get a price of $236 and the discount code of PD20TEK doesn't work.
Did anyone else experience that as I don't get $188 price.

    Many thanks.
