  • Thinking of getting one of these to mount behind my TV to stream my Gaming PC to my Big screen TV.

Wouldn't a new Chromecast with Google TV be a better option? Cheaper, cleaner, comes with remote, no OS to manage, apps like SteamLink/Kodi/Plex/Moonlight/Netflix ready to go.

  • Is this powerful enough to play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020?

    • For a given value of "play", yes…

Been using a Pi to run Pi-Hole. Amazing experience so far.

pi 4 is probably overkill for that, a pi zero will do, at about a quarter of the price (for board + case + Ethernet micro USB adapter).

      • True.

This is one of the many uses… but this is the only thing that I have been using consistently.

IMHO, Pi Hole + a libreelec media player (a <= $50 pi 3 runs fine at 1080p if you avoid H265) are the killer apps of the raspberry pis.

  • FYI -Im still waiting in my Raspberry Pi to arrive from these guys from almost 2months ago from this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/563345

edit: Sorry may not be same seller.

I've been waiting 9 weeks for an SSD to arrive from Melbourne through AusPost (not this seller). Weird as I've received China packages during the wait.

      • I remember hearing somewhere that sellers can send a package of "something" to make it look like they fulfilled their delivery of your purchase, unless you mean that you've received other deliveries from China quicker than those from Melbourne

8+ weeks for a remote control I ordered from WA (near Perth) to get to Melbourne, sent as a large letter. I know they have been detouring stuff out of the state for sorting, but I didn't think they were using Antarctica Station.

    • Nah, they are the same. They just don't have stock without showing on their website. Went back and forth and lots of emails until they finally posted it a few days ago. The package shows it's the same company. The product is fine. Just found their practice a bit shady. On Amazon though, they need to keep their rating up.

At this price it's almost better value to get a refurb Optiplex 9010 and run Docker…

$125 for a phone CPU isn't good value unless you need the GPIOs

    • Yeah, I think <= $50 delivered for the board and a case is the magic price-point. That's what I paid for my previous pi's (earlier generations than the 4), and really hard to complain at that price.

Power consumption and farm factor are important.

My current pies are glued to the bottom side of my desk.

Pretty damn happy with the one I got its a piece of cake to get up and running. Seller is good as well.
