That first link is the dupe as this was posted first.
The second link is a different app.

  • Strange how the ratings differ so much between Amazon Appstore (3/5) and Android Market (4.3/5) (comparing both full versions)

    • The complaints on the Amazon Appstore were largely related to registering the paid version.

Freekin' awesome! How could I miss this release. D2G is easily king of the mobile office suites. Please +1 the OP to get as many people aware while it's available. This is the whole reason you siged up to Amazon in the first place. Woo!

OP maybe you can copy and paste the instructions for other Ozzies to get their hands on this from other Amazon posts? P.S. Thanks for posting OP!

Also it seems the Amazon Full version key also unlocks the Android Market trial version too!!

      • How do you get the key?
I've downloaded the app, but can;'t install it due to not enough space on my phone.
Do i need to install it before i can get the 'key'?

        • the key is just one small separate app downloaded off Amazon store. You need to grab the trial from Android market and it will open up as full, tap on upgrade store and it will show you what's been unlocked.

btw you don't have to install it yet but keep it under 'my apps' and download it later, make sure Amazon notifies you that you have purchased it for $0.00 (the best part of the deal)

I've already paid for this app, definitely worth it

    Sweet thanks OP.

That's the third Mobile documents app I've got from Amazon in the past few weeks - very nice.

    • Yeah, pretty sweet eh!

yeap, plus everyday there are many interesting new apps for free, paper camera is awesome, there was a funny game called 'pigs in trees', that was an eye opener :D

the kindle fire will do very well with these free apps keeping their customers occupied

  • Thanks

This is the reigning champion of An Office suite app. Nothing better than this and its features rival no other office app on Android or iOS

    • Really? I've been quite liking QuickOffice, which was also free on Amazon recently, especially dropbox integration. What do you think makes Document to Go the best?

      • The UI and rendering of documents in Docs to Go seems better.

PDF documents also open a tad faster in PDF To Go vs Quick PDF.

      • ^^ plus Doc2go has much better editing features and google doc sync( I need that a lot) as well as ability to edit powerpoints, which is very useful if you forget to put something in your presentation and remember on the way to a Meeting/Uni

If only I had waited a month to save $15. great app

  • Well the gods must be smiling today… for after what must have been about 15 attempts, I now have a working Amazon Appstore account.

For anyone sick of creating free email addresses, you can simply use gmail aliases to create a new Amazon login.

    • so did you do something different this time for it work?

      • Besides using the full details of some person I found in the Whitepages, nope.

  • Hhhhmmm tried it. I think native Google Docs app on Android is superior.

  • How do you go about 'purchasing' this?

When I try I get this error:

We could not process your order because of geographical restrictions on the product which you were attempting to purchase. Please refer to the terms of use for this product to determine the geographical restrictions.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

    • DERP! Just saw the second half of the post. Looking into that now.

  • Bought it, installed it and uninstalled it 5 min later, didn't do copy and paste properly like Office Suite

  • Is this app tablet-native?

    • I would say it is as it came pre-installed on my iconia. The app is now "unlocked via Amazon key"

P.S: I was beaten as I came to PST this to only find out its already here :-)

  • got 'not in this region' after mucking around for 30 mins loading up the new amazon app on a HTC. Not sure why the amazon app loaded but the freebie didn't.

    • Sign into all your old amazon accounts that you've signed in with your HTC (do this bit on your comp)
And visit https://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/your-account/myapps then deregister your phone.
Then try again, I used browsesafely.co.uk to mask my IP while signing up a new account [white pages random yank details], hopefully it works for you.

  • i downloaded it successfully to my acer iconia but with the same account i cant purchase it from my mobile…restricted geographical location. all my apps that was previously bought by the same account disappeared…
p.s. bought the free Quick office pro by fake id and did not upgrade to the latest version of the amazon store…
    anyone experiencing the same

    • I got the Quick office pro app as well with fake ID. I have since updated the app with no problem and am still able to access all amazon apps (except the ones that cost money since the credit card is fake). Had no problem with this app at all.

  • Geographical restrictions…. help anyone??

    • read the OP. The link tells you everything you need to do

  • cheers

  • i think people are getting confused here .. You are purchasing the unlock key from amazon which makes the app fully functional. once you have purchased it from the appstore you will also need to download the free version from the app store and then it will function.
ps. ignore the "download now" splash screen that pops up when you go to open the app. The app will not work without the free version installed on your phone.

    cheers

  • Is there anyway to download this without using an android phone ie save for later? I'll be getting one in the next two weeks or so, would love to take advantage of this… (I've created a US amazon account etc)

    • google Youwave and install the amazon appstore on it to 'purchase' it.

    • yep youwave works but is buggy and laggy as hell for me.

Have you tried logging into the appstore from amazon website and then purchasing the app?

    • https://www.amazon.com/ap/signin?encoding=UTF8&openid.assoc_handle=usflex&openid.return_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fyourstore%3Fie%3DUTF8%26path%3D%252Fgp%252Fyourstore%26ref%3Dpd_irl_gw_r%26signIn%3D1%26useRedirectOnSuccess%3D1%26action%3Dsign-out&openid.mode=checkid_setup&openid.ns=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0&openid.claimed_id=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select&openid.pape.max_auth_age=0&openid.ns.pape=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fextensions%2Fpape%2F1.0&openid.identity=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select

just log in there and purchase - worked for me

      • nope didnt work for me… :(

Another alternative to Youwave is Bluestacks. It's a much more functional Android emulator.

  • Excellent finally got it to work this time. I was getting regional errors last time I tried.

  • Damn that was hard. Thanks for the help.

  • better than Polaris?

  • Finally got it to work! Thanks for all the help!

  • Document to Go is the way to go.

I have also got the Quick Office from Amazon last week. Also have Polaris on my phone.

  • +1

Geez, that was easy. Just entered the fake name gen. site info, tried to 'buy' DocstoGo, entered fake details and worked straight off.

Does feel slightly dodgy, but why shouldn't the rest of the world get deals the yanks get. We all pay for it. Anyway I paid for Docs to go for Palm ages ago.

  • It didnt work for me. Registered with fake name and card on pc. Phone says not available in my region. Cant buy it on pc either. Gives me a similar error.

They must have checked phone's ip number.

    • ip address, you did use a proxy to make the account right? For the amazon market app, try using "Market enabler" app with a US telecom if proxy doesn't work

      • The instructions don't tell you to use a proxy.

        • +1

I don't need proxy to register.

  • Not sure why this is any better than the free google docs?
Just a question at this stage, not a neg.

    • Easy conversion and plethora of editing options and compatibility not available with google docs. Also ability to integrate with other cloud services

    • Main thing for me is google docs requires online access. If i'm out of coverage or overseas and want to view some docs (eg Hotel booking numbers) i need an offline option. This is perfect for it.

  • mark it as expired

  • Damn - must have expired. The app store shows D2G main app free as normal and D2G full version at $14.99

I really wouldn't mind missing out on a $15 bargain if I hadn't had to go through the whole process of creating a US Amazon account. It's a bit of a fiddle the first time.

Never mind, I'm sure it'll be useful later.

Edit - not only too late for the app, but beaten to the expiry post by 5 mins. Not my day!
